75-80 is about the average, there is no such thing as 25 exams, even if they do exist... i dont trust the people performing it.

the best "deal" u can do with eye exams is if the optometrist subsidize that money into your cost of a pair of glasses/contacts should you decided to buy from them.

No, the 'best' deal is have your employer insurance cover the eye exam 100%, buy your "prescription" eyeglasses online or any cross border outlet malls.

And claim 80-100% up to the max for the eyeglasses under your insurance.

You're a ****** if you think you can say you have diabetes. The family doctor and optometrist are the ones who decide if you have diabetes. You can't self-diagnosis diabetes. What the hell? Never heard of that before.

$25-$50. Good luck. Maybe you can go find an optical who will do it with the auto-refractor (automatic, they just press a button) which will over-minus you. Also they can't write you a prescription, so how will you get a new pair of glasses? Your insurance company isn't gonna pay you back if you don't have a script.

You do know an eye exam isn't just about getting a new pair of glasses.

I guess that's what its come down to now a days, people rather spend money on teeth, clothes, food instead of their eyes which they get checked rarely every year, surprisingly if at least 2 years.

Some places will give you free eye exams, but you have to purchase your glasses/contact lenses right after at the connected store the optometrist is attached to

I like McGuinty. Even if you don't think he's the best, there really were not any other legitimate choices in the last campaign. I'll pay 90 bucks every few years rather than have huge sums of money being put into funding schools for every possible religion.

it's so annoying how people do not see the value of an eye exam. I dip my hands in many different industries, but I find the number of people who consider eye care a "rip off" very, very strange. I could go on and on about the things people freely spend money on that are more clearly rip offs. Maybe it's just me but I never hear people complaining about anything else, like plumbers who will charge you $150 to install a $1.20 pipe. The eye care industry whether it be eye exams or manufacturing eyewear is all about professional labour, and like most industries, there is a cost for a professional's time.

A good eye exam is worth good money, but most people performing eye exams are borderline incompetent.

The industry insiders know that the eye exams are crammed into 2 hours slots, where the 'eye doctor' tries to see as many people as possible in that two hour time slot. $60.00 for 4-8 minutes is not really that cheap. Add in that many of the people who perform eye exams in these places are not very accurate, I wouldn't even go for a free eye exam at walmart.

You can get a referral, but your eyeglass prescription does not need to be given to you or you'll still need to pay for it.

Visiting your family doctor (1/2 hour) and then waiting 3-4 hours to see an ophthalmologist who was never trained to detect eye glass prescriptions, only to end up with a prescription that is normally 60% on the mark is not a good way to get a free eye exam for me (or to save $100), but for those that want to waste about 4.5 hours to get an subpar prescription - that is their own choice - it's a free country :)

I have worn glasses since 7th grade and every eye exam I have ever had was nearly the same. #1 or #2. Basically 21 one question until they narrow it down to the proper lens. Now I don't have bifocals or astigmatism so my prescription is very simple. I am looking for a cheap, but legit eye exam. At the mall they give a free eye exam when you buy a pair. Which even if I found a cheap exam and then bought online I think I couldn't find a better deal. Then I can always buy a second pair or contacts online. Does this sound good?

I am here in Brampton. Arrived Saturday. I feel crazy when I can only read have the print on the packaging and I can't tell what TV stations are what yet. And I would like to say another thing while it is fresh in my mind. This is a bargain website. Those commenting that you shouldn't sacrifice quality for price are in the wrong place. Everyone knows that is the case (most times). And in my opinion (for most people) one eye exam will be as good as the next unless you have complex lens (tri-focal, astigma, ect). But what I am interested in finding out and the purpose of this site is... How much does Wal-mart cost vs. Costco vs Lens Crafters vs Sears. Does the free exam at the mall make it worth spending $150 on frames?

Maybe I will do some leg work today and let you know.

PS. I wear my daily contacts for a week!!!! OMG!
