If you go to the carwash press the back button immediately.
If you hand wash it, stick around and lemme know what you use/how you wash.
Im especially interested in removing spots after washing. I tried mr. clean, California water blade, and towels.

Thats a pretty rude thing to say.
I know many, many wealthy people who ONLY hand wash.
And the wealthiest ones, don't drive through the car wash they take it to a detailing shop to have it hand washed.
Most high pressure car washes will, in time will wear away at your paint (if you care about your car?)
I usually hand wash myself, maybe I'm not as well off as you are, if you're telling me I'm poor, but I don't mind to spend 20 minutes to hand wash my car, my car comes out a lot cleaner than you driving through the wash 3 times, does not spot, and I actually like seeing my car clean as I do try to take pride in my car.
I try to wash it at least once a week, but sometimes I can't lie when I get lazy I go to the drive through too.

LOL, keep on thinking that.... Go price out what it costs to get all the supplies to do a good hand wash then then tell me it's for "poor" people.

Sorry man but self-wash costs alot more money and takes more time than the car-wash.
The detailling arsenal I have costs $100-200 and it takes me like 5 or 6 hours to detail the car.

i use the coin-ops. but i usually go at night time. bring a bucket with me. i live in a condo, so don't have access to what i need to wash at home. plus if i leave a mess, it's not my mess to clean. :D

ROFL
This one is almost as good as the other infamous RFD car washing advice which was essentially "Don't wash your car because it's just going to get dirty again."
The things ppl say on RFD, I tell you...

I know the OP doesn't want to hear from me, but I think my question is a perfect fit for this thread.
I only use the no contact (touchless?) car wash at Ultramar. I love it. I get no scratches and it does a great cleaning job. With my last car, I was poor (kidding) and I only did hand washes in the driveway. What I found then was a lot more teeny tiny micro scratches and much more difficulty getting dead bugs off after a roadtrip.
So what's wrong with a no touch car wash?

b/c you're not doign it properly...
self washing requires a lot of knowledge... or u'r just scratching your paint..
im pretty certain 80% people aren't doing it properly.. creating swirls, improper waxing... hell, i doubt i am doing it perfectly too...
this is why detailing place charge over 100$ to wash your car...

I only hand wash my car - I am poor. I am actually a total newb in hand washing car, so I am not able to provide and advice. It's just that I feel that the car is "cleaner" when i wash the car myself. :D
However, if I really need a quick wash, I would do a rail-less + touch-less ones (Shell).

Anybody got some websites of good car detailing places around the west end of Toronto?
Just wondering how much it would cost to get one of these places to wash/wax/buff basically do everything to my car?
Thanks

hahaha, what type of rustbucket do you drive.
There's no way in hell I will let a car wash be it touchless or not, "touch" my car. Only handwash w/ pure lamb wool mitt will touch my car.
I guess I like my car so much.

how do you do your final rinse? sheeting the water from the top down will help a bit. and then blotting the car dry with a waffle towel. you can also put in a filtration system so that your hose only puts out soft water when you rinse off your car.
here's a link from autopia (http://autopia.org/forum/car-detailing/51698-well-water-hard-water-bad-good-cars.html) that may help you.

WTF?
I hand wash my car using car wash soap and a large car wash sponge. I try to wash early in the morning just before the sun hits or in the shade if I can. After the car is washed I dry it as quick as possible with a chamois. I usually will flush the underpinnings of the car and the wheel wells to get any dirt out.
If you want your car to look good clean the wheels too. Don't bother with that rim cleaner stuff, I just use an old sponge and soap and clean my rims by hand. After your done cleaning the rims spray your tires with some tire shine to give it that wet look, it'll make your car look awesome. There's nothing that looks worse then a freshly washed car with dirty brown rims.
BTW, I never go to any car wash or touchless car wash. When I take my vehicle to get service the dealership offers a free car wash which I always decline.

499$ for the unit then 199$ for the replacement filter.
Dang, I can get a set of rims for that amount.

Unless it's free (using Points, AirMiles) I try to avoid Touchless Car Washes. Even in winter I try to hand wash it. LOL
I do spend average three hours.
If you want to cut down on washing, pick up California Duster!
