Hey guys. Haven't done a lot of research yet, but starting today. I noticed the Waikiki thread already, but didn't see a whole lot on Maui. Any ideas on what are the must things to do. Also cheap things to do would be great. Where to eat? We have hotel and car booked already as well as flight. Any ideas would be awesome!

One of the sites i've been looking at for my trip.
Maui i'm only doing a day trip as there isn't much that interests me on that island :)

In Oahu, lots to consider:
* a trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center, including the night Horizon show. Can use coupon from the Entertainment book. The luau there is not bad.
* trip to see the Pearl Harbour (go early to get a tender ticket), and can seeing other ship, submarine, etc.
* Drive to the Pali Lookout.
* Hike up Diamond Head
* Hanauma Bay, see the video first, then down to the beach for easy snorkeling. This is not the best snorkeling spot as there're lots of people stepping on the corals and they die. But you can swim a little bit further out and still be inside the enclosed bay with little wave.
* Of course you want to stroll on the Waikiki beach, with Diamond head as the backdrop.
In Maui:
* Can do lots of snorkeling where you're staying
* The Old Lahaina Luau is consider one of the best
* A day-trip drive to Hana and back. Be prepared to stop everywhere and enjoy the beautify scenery.
* Maybe one early morning, be at the top of the Haleakala mountain to see sunset.
The cost of food is similar to other US cities. Gas a little more.
Take your time and enjoy paradise.
