Has anyone purchase train tickets for travel within england? I am trying to buy tickets online but none of the sites work. One website support team told me that I can only purchase tickets when I get to england as the website does not allow purchases other than by UK residents. I just don't know if they will run out of seats on my specific travel date or perhaps increase the prices on the date of travel.

I've had no problems buying train tickets in the UK ahead of time in Canada. I've booked directly with First Great Western and First Capital Connect. All bookings went through with a Canadian credit card (Mastercard) and email confirmations with my confirmation codes were sent immediately for me to carry to the UK to get the actual tickets.
What website are you trying to book your tickets with?

Unless you need seats for a busy weekend, like a Bank Holiday or something, you'll be fine buying once you're there. Where and when do you need to go?

i tried booking through the national railway enquiries (official website for the england rail). However, the booking process is done by a list of subcontractors that you can choose from. i looked at the virgin train website and national rail east coast.
i will look at the website you have suggested. thanks:)

I tried to use the First Great Western website, but it won't allow me to register. It can't reconginze my postal code. Were you able to register with the website? Also, when I entered 4 adults, it automatically gave us the group 4 discount. So should I go with that price or I must have the rail card?
