How do you erase the name and address that is often printed on your magazine covers?
I would like to give away or donate lots of my old mag's but don't like the idea of my name and address printed on it.
Thanks.

what kind of stickies can you put on the magazines and then pull off and nicely rip off the surface layer to take out the address part?
Sometimes the markers still show your address through tho

Cut out the entire sticky as the second posts says.
You don't want your subscriber # there either btw

what if there is no label, ie. the address is printed directly onto the magazine cover?

Are you really serious about this?
If you are, how do you go through life like this?

I'm amazed at how many people lack common sense to figure out solutions to simple problems. Even people who go to university.

I don't wanna ruin the magazine by making a big gaping hole for the next guy.
Not sure what the big fuss is about "common sense", geez.

I just don't understand how something so simple needs to be discussed?
How do you decide what to have for breakfast in the morning?

You know some of you guys are way too non-chalant about this - just FYI a Sharpie is no solution because it is trivial to wash off the sharpie ink leavving the original printed address.
The guy wants to anonymize the magazines, if he is concerned about it I assume he has a reason (worried about identity theft?) , and dismissing it outright and offering stupid obvious suggestions like sharpies doesn't help anyone, it just makes you look pompous.
To OP - if it is printed directly on the cover and not a label you can remove, then your only real option Either:
a) Cut out the address with scissors. Whoever you are donating them to hopefully should not mind that.
b) Use a more powerful compound like lacquer thinner and rubbing to try to dissolve the top shiny surface (and address) off the magazine. Doing would *probably* ruin the cover in that area anyway though, so you probably will still need to cut it out.

Yes, I don't know why the original poster is so concerned about the magazines being in 100% condition. They are used. If you just cut out your address or tear off the front or back page (where the address label is), why would it matter? The contents of the magazine are still intact.
Those on the receiving end of the used magazines will be thankful even if there is no front or back page.

How can identity theft happen through information that is pretty much public to everyone at Canada Post?

I had a similar problem when I bought those videos and such from that "special store" in Montreal
Didn't they find a bunch of "and such" in George Michael's car trunk a few years ago?
