Anyone have X-ARCADE Arcade?

Goes for $1099 USD. I know I can build one for less BUT the damn hassle and time... I just don't have anymore (yeah yeah... and I have time to game?). Just wondering if anyone had the unit and what did you think of it?

Anyone just have the joysticks?

I might be getting one next month or so.

Actually, building the unit is at least as much fun if not more that playing on the thing. I built my own MAME cabinet (http://www.freenet.edmonton.ab.ca/~atrick/) and it cost about that much. They want to sell you the cabinet without the TV and without the PC in it for $1100US. My whole cabinet cost a bit less than that and includes a 27" TV for the monitor and a decent computer (which I've since replaced with the dell 2400). Its not that difficult to build, and you learn alot about the stuff operates. The joysticks and buttons and stuff are actually pretty cheap ~$50US and another ~$50US for the interface, so you are spending about $1000US on the wood and screws....

I've built my own metal DDR pad for mine as well. If you were in Edmonton I'd offer to sell you mine if you want to save the time building (and then build a new one)

I've been meaning to build one of these myself. If I do ever take the leap I'd have to go for the 4-player setup, nothing else matches 4-player TMNT.

The X-ARCADE is a 2-player setup, anyone have any links to a 4-player setup?

I don't have cabinet plans for my cabinet exactly, but I followed these pretty closely allowing an extra inch and a half for TV width, and changed the control panel to a more traditional 2 player setup.

Thats the beuty of these things, you can customize them to suit your tastes/needs.

For a 4 player setup all you need is a bigger control panel area (see lucids design) and a different model of the interface which is a bit more expensive. Otherwise its its the same thing.

I've heard good things about the X-ARCADE despite the price, if you have the cash and don't want to build your own (see below if you do :) ) then I say go for it!

I'm almost finished building a mame machine at school for a teacher as a project, here's what it took to build and the price rundown:

Cabinet (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=D&game_id=7579) with 27" monitor no board $70 (search around, you can find deals on good cabinets!)
Duron 950 Computer $0
AC/DC wiring kit (http://www.therealbobroberts.com/) $100 US

JPAC (http://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html) $57 US
You might need a power supply if there isn't one in the cabinet, $25 US at bob robert's site.

Building this was a great experience, before this project I refurbished a Skyshark (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=S&game_id=9574) cabinet, everything was replaced but the cabinet (board was even swapped, wanted a board with 6 character high score table).

Getting into Coin-Op restoration can be daunting (ex. 56 wire jamma harness), but there is a lot of good info out there if you look for it, and the end result is really worth it.

I was such an idiot a few years back... a friend of mine offered me an Original Shinobi Arcade and a Original Bad Dudes Arcade... full blown originals with coin door, marquee... everything. I said nope cuz I have an awesome SNES :wacko:

Bet you're kicking yourself now huh.. :( I'm always looking for arcade stuff but I don't have the space for it. Xbox takes care of all my classic gaming needs for now, but arcade games are really hard on an xbox controller, you just can't tap fast enough :wacko:

Building arcade controls for emulator use would be easy enough, I'm guessing it would cost about $100 altogether if you used an ipac from ultimarc, even less if you hack something together using an old keyboard. I wonder how much of a market there is for these things at a decent price?

I'm interested in buying a pre-built cabinet (I'm not interested in building one, nor do I have the know-how or time), after doing some research I think the best pre-built cabinet on the market is the Arcade PC made by hanaho, check them out at hanaho.com. If you though the Arcade-X was expensive...the Deluxe Arcade PC model with a computer included is over 5k.

I think it's worth it, I'll be buying one within two years time.

I can talk about video games all day. Bionicbadger - thats a sweet cabinet, but you need a stool with back support for those long gaming sessions :)

Sleepyguy - you should see if you can get a used original cabinet in excellent condition. You will save alot of money versus the X-Arcade. If you in Toronto, Starburst Coin has arcade auctions every 3 months or so.

I thought Id share some photos. Below is my SF2 Turbo machine I bought at auction. Got it for $275 which was a good deal. All working original parts (header, coin mech, monitor, bezel, pcb, psu, etc) except I installed new Happs joysticks.

This is my setup. I built that crappy looking joystick for my Xbox. Gamepad hacked a Madcatz Xbox controller. Going to try to make version 2.0, a less ghetto arcade stick, when I have some time. Thats Final Fight in the background running the Mame port for Xbox.

Nice SF2 arcade... I only get 3 weeks vacation a year, so I gotta use it wisely... 1 week for house projects, 1 week for getaway, 1 week for personal (lazy gaming, booze, party, etc) :)

I was gonna build a MAME cabinet a while back to go along with my home bar. I ended up building the bar myself but not the MAME cabinet. Maybe one day when I'm bored I'll do it :) I even went as far as buying the X-Arcade controller and MAME building plans.

It's surprisingly expensive to build the case on your own so I would suggest buying the case from that video game auction as someone mentioned. It goes for about $50-$100.

x-arcade joystick, I own one, the 2 player version is the best arcade stick ever made, has a life time warranty, im trying to sell mine :P, but NOT for the moment, i posted info on selling this, but i changed my mine, due to unreliable buyers!!! anyways, its even better then the one in the arcades, its really big, very strong and 2 players can play without a problem next to eachothers, alot of space., bottom has sticky patches, or whatever its called, so it can stick on any surface u place it on, and best part is, u can connect it with any system!!! its worth while! btw, im Not talking about the 999$ cabinet...just the joystick, it goes for around 200$, with a pc adaptor.

x arcade better then the arcade? ha man i guess u must of forgotten how it is at the arcade or u been to a ****** broken arcade.. nothing beats authentic happ sticks and buttons..
