Just noticed all of a sudden that if you try to load a bad domain (http://www.xcupoucouoausdoaudasd.com for example), Rogers redirects your browser to some craptastically bad Yahoo search result for your page. You can then "opt out", which just leads you to:

http://www20.search.rogers.com/not_found

Note that even in FireFox, it tries to make the page "look" like the IE error. What brilliance.

Anyone else notice this? Any other surprises waiting around the corner? Any way to turn this any any other Rogers "improvements" off permanently?

It's the DNS server that is automatically pushed down to your connection by Rogers. That DNS server can't find the URL, directs you to the horrid Yahoo page there. Myself, I use OpenDNS, and they have their own sort of error reporting. It's pretty much the same concept as what you've got going on there, just not nearly as annoying (imo).

Change your DNS servers to 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3, 4.2.2.4

These are Verizon's DNS servers - much faster and more reliable than Roger's servers.
