my primary is using the newest Tomato 1.21, I was wondering if there's a good firmware for the secondary router just for bridge like the dd-wrt ones? or I should just install both as Tomato 1.21.

Any experience?

thanks

DD-WRT v24 SP1 was just released last week; but it seems to be very buggy.

If you're happy with Tomato, maybe stick with that?

Will test double Tomato soon, let's see how it goes from 2nd floor to basement.

I just did this the other day. DD-WRT v24 (not SP1) as Repeater Bridge mode. Though they say you should set it up as a Client Bridge mode first, before adjusting settings and making it a repeater bridge.

2x Tomato is working fine, dont know why WPA2 wouldnt work, took me a while to switch to WPA to get it to work.

mingyang, what kind of signal do you get with your setup? I want to do a similar setup and was wondering if going through so many floors would make the signal too weak. I actually just want to go from the top floor to the floor below. Does the tomato firmware strengthen the signal?

WPA2 will work only after you got WPA running. You change WPA to WPA2 afterward. Make sure you enable SSID.

does it function as a range extender? if you search for network on your laptop, do you see both router (SSID) or just one?
