Just wondering, if it ships from the US why no taxes?
No complaining, just want to check if end price will be higher due to taxes and duties.

There are no duties (usually) becuase amazon.com tends to ship from their canadian warehouse... a small number of people have gotten screwed with duties on occasion, so be warned

Keep in mind Blu Ray versions of the bond movies are coming this fall.
A majority of the bond movies weren't originally filmed in high def anyway. 42 dvds for $104 is a great deal.
Even if you could find a tremendously great discount on James Bond Blu-ray, say $10 per disc (no way that will happen anytime soon), that will still be $420 for the same collection on blu-ray.

Pretty good deal. I bought it for $109 when it went on sale as a Gold Box Deal in Dec./07.
Yes, you can wait for the Blu-ray discs but you will pay an arm and a leg for it.
Amazon.com accepts orders from Canada for books, dvds, and cds. Unlikely to pay duty or any other taxes since they are shipped from Mississauga using Canada Post. I have placed about 8 orders with no problems.

Wouldn't they have to ship it to you from the US? And you will get charged customs.

this is very wrong... they were all shot on 35mm film which can be scanned into hi-def. 35mm is still better visual fidelity than any HD camera as well.

Here is the email I just got from amazon.COM regarding the Curb Your Enthusiam order I placed:
Items shipped on August 13, 2008:
Delivery estimate: August 29, 2008
1 package via Canada Int'l Shipping
So.....looks like there is a chance it's coming from the U.S since they used "international" shipping.

I have seen my tracking like that before i.e. shipped from texas. Finally, I got it from mississauga! It looks like they ship from the U.S. to their mississauga warehouse, thus taking care of customs (and hence the increased shipping from last year). most items are probably already in mississauga, seeing that they ship only dvds, cds and books.

I started the thread. Read the post I was replying to. Someone said something about using the Bill Me Later $20 coupon which HAS to be shipped to a US address to work.+1 for you, I'm a 'tard and should have read more carefully.
In actual response to your post... then it depends. If you can wait for your friend to haul it up or to go and visit them, you can get duplicitous and simply forget to declare it when you cross the border. Heck, just open it up and then you're just borrowing it from your friend.
But if you ship it across the border and you want it insured, you'll have to declare its value and yeah you'll probably get hit. Not worth the effort for me since you'd have to pay to ship it as well.

I guess that would explain the long shipping time as well if it's going from the U.S to the .ca warehouse and then out to Calgary.
I'll update after I get the package.

If these were only Blu-ray discs, i would have been all over it. I stopped buying DVD's all together except for my favorite show Entourage.
Amazing price none the less. Thanks OP.

Ordered this ultimate set too. Awesome price!!! Although I haven't bought standard DVDs for a long time since I only buy HD-DVD and Blu-Rays. But for older movies and getting 42 discs, can't complain. This will be my last standard DVDs that I'm buying for sure.

Would I have to pay taxes if I got it shipped via Expedited shipping though? I'm assuming that if its expedited, Amazon doesnt have the time to get it shipped to Mississauga and then ship it out to me? Or do they still do that?

Wow. A month for Expedited International Shipping ?Yeah, it said something similar for me when I ordered the complete Stargate series, but it took like 3 days from order placement to in my mailbox. Take what they say as a worst-case scenario.

the info in gsrce's signature is correct.
I did some more searching; there is no warehouse in canada.
It appears that the mississauga address is a DHL facility. It does act as a redirect address because of agreement with amazon.com, so no customs charges. you are buying from US, so no taxes. If you return an item, it goes to the mississauga address, and I'm guessing DHL sends it back to the US.
And those shipping times are all estimates and not accurate at all.
