Big fan of the site, been lurking, now I'm officially on board!

Using this site, I set up with the AMEX Gold 2% cashback but its giving me tears from all the tiers.

I stumbled upon the HSBC Weekend Master Card - here are the details:

http://www.hsbccreditcard.com/ecare/cards?docId=Cards_Tab_data_cards_hs_p4_xml
---
* Earn 2% cash back on Saturday and Sunday on every card purchase, everywhere.
* Also earn 1% cash back on card purchases Monday through Friday.
* Plus, get a 0% Introductory APR on card purchases and balance transfers for 12 months, and NO annual fee.*
* MasterCard's Platinum Benefits package including:♦
o Purchase Assurance® Coverage protecting you from theft or damage on new purchases.
o Extended Warranty insurance doubles the manufacturer's warranty on new purchases.
o MasterCard Global Services® providing 24-hour assistance with lost or stolen card needs.
* 100% Fraud Liability Protection automatically.
---

Benefits to me:
-No tiers
-It's Mastercard, which means you can use it in more places
-It's better than the Citibank Enrich because of the 2% weekends and it is uncapped earnings

Thoughts?

Does anyone know if HSBC will open a US card for you based on your Canadian credit history, like some other cross-border banks will (AMEX) ?

Target Visa and Nordstorm Visa in USA takes Canadian Address(you have to apply in Store), accept cdn credit history and they will mail your bills to Canada but you have to make bill payment using a US based bank accounts...

I went to one of the Target in Buffalo and they are willing to let me apply and I got my card in less than 3 weeks mailed to Canada.

Process : I ask the sales rep before and they said they are taking canadians too, the system is similar to the one you apply at "the Bay" counter, there is a touch pad where you will enter your SSN (I ask them I dont have SSN in US so the rep told me enter your SIN in Canada and it will be fine) info and date of birth in there. The rep will enter your name, address, drivers license number and telephone number (make sure its a real one because they will call to confirm once you activated the card) in there.

In less than 5 minutes, you will get a temporary receipt where it shows your credit limit, interest rate (usually its high but if you paid on time, you should be ok) and 10% off with that temporary slip while shopping in Target. In 3 weeks, you will get your REAL card with all the insurance contract and agreement.

A US Based Visa is different than the CDN ones, one difference is they do charge a finance charge (based on the interest rate on your card) on Non-US based purchases. So, please make sure you are using it only in USA. Ex : I got charge $ 1.03 USD on top of a $ 40 CAD converted to USD is $ 39.90 at that time while I made a purchase at Niagara Falls.

Target Visa comes with all those Purchase Protection, Insurance and Car Rental Waiver for FREE with NO ANNUAL FEE.

I use it alot while shopping down states to avoid currency exchange and fees plus the Americans wont make a dull face on you while you are in front of the cashier and in many occassions while I make purchase down south with a cdn visa, they would say "What card is that, never seen it before? Canadian Visa ? Oops! "
