View Full Version : The Worst pizza ever in my life! (from Pizza Hut tonight)
twilight
Jan 29th, 2004, 09:12 PM
I am eating the worst pizza i ever had in my life--
the crust at centre is so thin that the pizza breaks when I try to eat it. At some spots the crust actually 'melted' and the toppings are already stuck onto the cardboard. The crust at the side of the pizza is still 'uncooked' in the middle... And the toppings cover only half of the pizza...
The story goes like this...
I ordered my pizza at 7:20 on the phone and was told the pizza would arrive in 1 hr. After 1 hour and 20 minutes, it did not arrive so I called pizza hut again to trace my order.
The lady at customer service told me that there was an 'accident' so the pizza was delayed but it would be free.
Another 25 min later, some person called me asking for the major interaction near my place and sounded VERY surprised when she found out I am not at DOWNTOWN Toronto. But hanged up right away.
Another 20 min later, I still had NO pizza!! So I called pizza hut customer service to ask what happened. It turns out that they mixed up the address so they had to give my order to another uptown location to process... (so the call I got is from the downtown pizza hut place)
2 hours and 20 minutes later, the pizza finally came to my door... and after i happily opened the box, it appeared as i have described above....
my friends and i think that it is because the store knew they are baking the pizza for free so they purposely messed it up... (come on...the pizza can't even be picked up from the box and I had to eat it with fork and knife  )
But what else can I do? we waited for over two hours for the pizza and we were starving!!! so in the end we just ate the pizza and I made a brief call to pizza hut telling them to be careful about the orders next time :( ...
My friends said that real western people won't buy this crap; they would probably ask to replace the pizzas... it is us the poor asians who know little about customer service and would be embarrassed about calling again to ask for compensation... :( this is kind of sad...

Yeah, asking for another pizza = tons of sh!t in your pizza... (ie. spray of split, botton of the driver's shoes, unwashed hand tossing your pizza after he took a sh!t, etc etc... )
Just email headoffice, tell them the situation in a polite way and tell them you're telling all your friends never to order Pizza Hut again. Make sure you make it serious but professional.
By the way, being Asian have nothing to do with it.

Pizza Hut sucks. Let's face it, you can't eat their pizza without the cheese sliding off the slice in the first bite.
Order Pizza Pizza next time.

No, I dont think so.
Yes this topic involves food, but I think the main issue here is the treatment of customers (when the seller knows that they have to give the product for free).

I agree Pizza Hut is not what it used to be. Although there was one night I ordered right before closing time. It was the best pizza I've ever got from them. Meat lovers with thick crust with double the amount of cheese and toppings.... mmm it must have been at least an inch and a half thick with all the toppings on there. Must have been a fluke though 'cause it never happened again, I guess they were getting rid of the toppings...

hmmm pizza hut all you can eat, now thats an awesome deal. sadly tho they sometimes really skimp on the toppings especially the ham and pineapple in the hawians.
but still cant beat a fresh pizza off the conveyor.

i think i won't order pizza hut delivery in the future just to be safe cuz that same store is gonna take my order ;)
but we were amazed about how they baked such thin pizzas... at the parts where the crust can still hold the toppings, it is only 1.5mm thick :P

jeez guys don't you realize there's different people running every pizza hut location? It's not like "all pizza huts suck" cuz a few of them do.
IMHO, if you want a good pizza, from anywhere, order when they're quiet... rushed workers will make worse pizza.

Try Delissimo! Hahahahah...
I can't eat Pizza Hut.. maybe cuz I worked there in my younger days. That stuff is just way too oily. I prefer Delissimo. Stick some extra toppings on and bake away. No hassles with dealing with stupid Pizza Pizza. Love that creamy garlic sauce :P

Thats the weird thing about Pizza Hut. I remember when I delivered Pizza's for them when they first started delivery service. Sometimes I would deliver pies 2 to 3 hours LATE because I was the only one available to drive! People usually didn't care, and would even tip well. They were just thankful the damn pizza actually arrived at the door.

I had a problem with Greco Pizza here in New Brunswick.
We ordered a pizza and it arived 1 hour late.
I paid the delivery guy and when we opened the pizza it was nice looking but it was burned really bad under it. There was only like a small spot not burned out.... I called them back saying that I wasn't satisfied and that I wanted another one.. they said it would take about 2 hour to get another one.. so I told the sales rep to call the delivery guy and come pick it up again.. and that I wanted my money back.
they came, took about 2 hour, and gave me my money back..
We cooked lunch in that 2 hour frame..
At least I got my money back and I never ordered from that Restaurant since..

Well I don't think they'll give it free if you phone in every time you order :P and seeing as I order a couple every couple weeks, and maybe 10% have some kind of mixup where I phone in, to me it seems like pretty good customer service and a good way to retain a customer :)
Course it helps that their pizzas cost an arm and a leg :P

I generally tip whatever the first digit of the total is;
ie if its 25.34$ I tip 2$
if it's 33.42$ I tip 3$...
It's a bit less than 10% I guess...I have no idea what the standard is supposed to be :P

well.. i love pizza hut.. there's something about the taste of it that's very unique. over the years, there's been a considerable drop in the oiliness of their pizzas too. compared to ten years ago, i find the difference enormous and a very pleasant surprise..
I also noticed that most people complaining about their pizza hut experience was from the ontario area. i feel bad for you guys if you have to wait longer than an hour for a pizza. I dont' think i've ever had to wait more than 40 minutes for one here in the vancouver area. I guess pizza places are just further away from residential areas. That's odd and kinda dumb if every order tkaes 1-2 hours. I think it's safe to say that guys in the West would go apesh!t if that happened normally.
Twilight, I would definitely send them a polite letter with your nightmare experience. Pizza Hut's a big company and they have an image to uphold. They will treat you right in the end i'm sure. As a consumer, it's important that companies don't get lazy and complaining aobut one's experience is a perfectly acceptable way to do this.
No one asked, but here's my little rundown on local pizza establishments:
Little Caesar's $5 pizza is crap. Their pre-made $5 pepperoni pizza is usually warm by the time the buyer gets to it. Frozen pizza from the supermarket is good. $.99 pizza downtown (at every block) is good after drinking/clubbing too. Another good place for pizza is Gigi's on Broadway. Excellent pizza, great toppings that don't fall off, good crust, and reasonably priced for a small restaurant that's open late. Martini's pizza (next door to Gigi's is crap; topppings fall off and it's usually soggy). Johnny's pizza on Granville is good. Boston Pizza's pies are great too (mmm.. perogy pizza). Costco pizza is damn yummy too. Panago's pizza's are generally not that greasy (except for maybe the New Yorker) and they have a good variety to choose from. That's all for now....

Feb 17th, 2004, 07:01 PM
I think Vancouverians get their pizzas quicker because Vancouver is more "condensed" while Toronto is more spread out. They can get to homes quicker.
I like the $5 Little Caesers pretty good. This was at the Champlain Square location. It's usualky hot (sometimes sauce too hot).
You can walk out with that in less than a minute. But that person doing the cash is so slow! He has to straighten out every bill, and drop every coin SLOWLY into its place!

i'm Asian and I have no problem complaining and demanding the service that I am owed.
I have to say that you have to take some responsibility for your inability to demand service and becoming uneducated about customer service.

yes, most Pizza places charge a delivery fee but that fee is not given to the driver. these drivers are not responsible for making your food, but delivering it. it's a crappy job. they should get a buck or two, at least.

Huh? What are you saying? The pizza driver is not getting PAID to deliver my pizza? Of course that delivery fee is going towards the pizza driver.
Many years ago I looked at Pizza Pizza franchises. Back then the drivers were paid by delivery, they don't even get a minimum wage so tips definitely help them fill up the gas tank. They're also expected to do free work while they wait for deliverys like make boxes, simple prep work, etc. Slave labour heeheheh
I had this nice Tuscany Pizza at Boston Pizza tonight. It was nice and delicious. Highly recommended.

i would never willingly eat pizza hut pizza.
i hope this has changed, but the last time i ate at pizza hut (about eight years ago), i watched as the guy making the pizzas stuck a large, gloved hand into a box of lard, pulled out a huge handful, and smeared the pizza pan with it.
the pizza basically deep fried as it made its way across the conveyor. . .it swims in lard!
man, that can't be good for you.
ferkel
Feb 29th, 2004, 12:53 AM
They use good old cooking oil, who has time to grab lard for a pan? Was this for a pan pizza? I know they use one big squirt for a small pan, two for a medium and three squirts for a large pizza... which would be half a cup of oil and yep.. the dough gets pretty much deep fried.

There's a local pizza store where I've been ordering from for years. I never tip because the lack of cash is the cause and they're always (every driver who works there) pissed off that I never tip. So, I've decided to go to either frozen pizza or elsewhere, their loss!
I actually know someone who delivers pizzas in another city, and he said he makes 20$ an hour with tips. If that's true for these guys are who are always pissed at me, f*** 'em, that's some decent cash.

finally someone mentions how disgusting pizza hut's pizza is.before, their pizza was really good, but now it's too yucky to bare!me and my family ordered 2 pizzas this year from them, and those 2 times the dough was uncooked(you could actually taste the uncooked dough),the vegatables tasted rotten, the cheese....was barely melted, and tasted bad as well..I was so sick after that,I thought I was gonna get food poisoning
I got tricked with spending my money on pizza I bet they found in a trashcan....
now I order from other pizza places like pizza pizza,House of pizza, etc, where their pizzas actually taste like real pizza
but whats mostly best is homemade pizza,it tastes good, and isn't that hard to make.

Write a letter to Pizza Hut's head office and fax or mail it to them. Include your resolution. Include a timeline. I don't work for Pizza Hut, but I'm in the customer service field.
I did that once about another company, they gave me a coupon and stuff.
Give it a shot, what do you have to lose?
They will fix it for you. As they say in biz. It costs more to convince former customers to come back, then to get new ones.
For every one angry customer, that customer will spread to 5 other people. A chain reaction happens. That's how you destroy a company's reputation.

rule number 1 of pizza ordering if it dont come in the time slot they asked. CANCEL the order and call another place.
reason being when u call and are told that u will get a free pizza i would only expect the cooks who just made 2 pizza's one that was scraped to want to tamper with it . cut your loses next time and order from another pizza place. i am sure there are 2-3 of them at least serving your area.
after 2 hours why didnt you go pick up food or pizza since obviously with the mess up you were going to have to wait for the food longer.

That's why the pizza costs mores It's like 30 bucks to deliver 2 medium pizzas.
You should order pizza at those 2 for 1 places, that is run by an indian family where they probrably dont pay their children for working, or at least, a few dollars an hour, prob 3? That's why you get 2 pizzas, turkey, bread, letuce. pop, all for maybe 25 bucks?
Usually when I order pizza, it's not always consistent in it's quality. Pizza hut sucks...I'd rather have pizza at a slice for a dollar store. There was this one store far away I knew, the 1 dollar slice pizza actually tasted so damn good. We'd by like 5 slices and chug it down for a great meal.

Pizza Hut's crust is very greasy. Delissio's crust isn't as greasy, but their pepperoni pizzas give you a pond of oil on top. I recently tried their Spicy Chicken variety and it was must less greasy, but still good.
