View Full Version : Zellers: YMMV? Bonus 30,000 HBC pts: buy 4 Crest @$0.74 ea

Zellers has their own P&G Brandsaver type coupon book out at their stores.

In addition to the various coupons, they're advertising a promo (no coupon req'd, just an HBC Rewards account) offering bonus 30,000 HBC Rewards Pts (worth $3.75 in a GC) when you purchase ANY 4 products from these participating brands: Iams, Bounce, Pringles, Puffs, Bounty, Always, Tampax, Gillette, Secret, Old Spice, Pantene, Crest, Olay and Cover Girl.

Participating products must be purchased in the same transaction between Sept 6-30, 2008. There's a picture showing a selected number of products.

So Crest toothpaste 75ml (not pictured, regular kind, not the premium) sells for $0.74 each. Buy 4 for $3.34 (incl 13% tax) and you'll get $3.75 back in pts if it works.

UPDATE:
Following worked for me (but pts were adjusted manually)
4 Crest 75ml $0.74 ea
4 Pringles pm'ed at $1 ea (DEAD as No Frills sale is over)

Heh heh. I thought the same thing. I don't think it's as good.
If you buy 400 Crest at the reg price, you'll pocket only $41
With SPC 10% discount, you'll pocket $74

Anybody want to try? Let us know how it goes! :cheesygri

Just read the fine print. Didn't say 1 offer per account either!

Zellers publishes their own "brandsaver-type" coupon book in parallel with the P&G Brandsaver.

This 30K pts offer was advertised in this book. The book can be picked up at any Zellers.

If you use an old GC with a balance, then essentially you're paying $3.34 from your GC and you'll get $3.75 back on a GC (= 30,000 pts). You actually profit from it.

Do I need a special coupon? How can I make sure that the points are credited?

Do I need a special coupon?

No (see my original post)

How can I make sure that the points are credited?

IME, these pts are automatic and will show on receipt.

Again, this promo is not tested. I will try it out for kicks tomorrow morning.
Will post.

Hey OP,
Quick question. I just read through the Zellers flyer and noticed that they advertize the Pringles Select, which aren't the same as the No Frills ones.
Anyone seen the complete details of the Zellers offer?

I just looked at the ad again in that coupon booklet. What I typed in the 1st post is pretty much word for word.

BUT there's a picture of various products so I'm wondering if it's limited to the products shown in the picture?!?

It's not clear. So again, I must stress this is NOT TESTED. Do NOT buy 400 Crest!!!! Maybe buy 4 and return if it doesn't work.

Don't do what this guy did at SDM thinking there was another L'oreal type promo but with Gillette products:

http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=624716&page=18&highlight=l%27oreal

BTW, there are $0.64 cans of IAMS pet food so if this is included in the promo, then you'll pocket more $.

The deal should work as it is in the weekly flyer. Even though it has certain products picture but it says 30000 points with ANY 4 products. So unless a cashier uses some kind of their own discretion, it should work.

Unless it is a one per customer deal, you should get it the 30,000 points with every 4 items you purchase.

I'm waiting for someone to say he bought 400 Crest or IAMS for a little profit! :D

I bought the 4 Crest yesterday, got the 30K pts credited to my acct today.

But that's it for me. I may try to PM the $1 Pringles but so far resisted the temptation of more junk food (even if it's free!)

I've had the pts manually adjusted. See the 1st post. For this reason, I added YMMV.

OK, I gave in to the temptation. Price matched 4 Pringles, used SPC and got the 30K pts.

But like the Crest, pts didn't automatically appear on my receipt. So again, the same manager at my local Zellers added the pts manually! Free Pringles!!

I finally got around to this today as it is good until Sept. 30. I didn't get my points so I went to customer service as per the other posts here. The CSR told me that the points are rewarded through a partner organization so they can't manually add on the points. My receipt had 1 pt listed beside bonus points. She said this indicated that I would be getting the points. She said to wait a week for the points to be added, if not come back and they'd figured something out. Anyone else have this 1 point show up? Note today when I checked my statement online, I see on Aug. 31, I have two transactions showing 1 pt "Live artfully contest". My receipts don't show the 1 pt. This was when I used the HBC bonus coupons. Anyone know what this is?

Magneto
Sep 19th, 2008, 06:29 PM
The 1 in the bonus point section indicates that you have been entered into the current contest for 1 entry. I was told the 30,000 would show up in my account after 24 hrs and if it didn't to go back and have it manually entered. I printed off my transaction statement, went back and they made the adjustment. I did this a couple of weeks ago so don't bother waiting - go back now before they forget. Hope this helps to answer your questions.

anyone has luck in Conestoga Mall in Waterloo??? The CSR told me that it has to be 4 of the products listed on the page(picture), and that the manager has told her that too.....

beware of a lady who is kind of skinny with short black hair. She is really cautious with everything, the other day, she was the cashier and asked me to sign my SPC card and checked my student ID with the name on it. And it's the same lady in the CSR section

Never heard of this reasoning before.

My receipt for the 4 Crest had the 1 pt. The 4 Pringles didn't. I assumed the 1 pt is for a contest entry.

But I had both receipts manually adjusted right away at the Service Desk. Pts appeared on my acct next business day. I've never had issues with the my local Zellers and Bay stores when it comes to manually adjusting pts at the Service Desk. The people there are good. So maybe YMMV!

And that 1 pt I got never resulted in another 30K pts added to my acct.

This is what I suspected as the reason why pts aren't automatically added for some of the P&G products. I can't verify it as I don't plan on buying the products that were pictured.

I checked my points online and the 1 pt was for a contest and the other points didn't appear. I've been busy so I haven't had a chance to go back yet for the adjustment. What exactly is this contest? The one in August said "Live Artfully" this one said something about Toronto. It is odd that they have a contest that no one knows about including staff.

Makes sense that my Pringles purchase didn't give me the 1 pt since it's not an eligible product for this contest.

This is the other contest when you swipe your rewards card at the Bay

Unless someone buys 4 products in the picture, no one will know for sure.

But it's open to interpretation! As mentioned earlier, even the manager agreed I should get the pts on ANY products (pictured or not pictured).

But perhaps the rules might have been clarified by HO since then?

I have bought the secret from the ad and one of the varieties gave me the right points. I bought 4 of the bundle packs of the puffs advertised and didn't get points. Only certain products are giving points automatically and the rest have to be added. My experience with having points from their sheets is hit and miss so this promo could be difficult. One of the stores I went to flat out refused to add the points for items not listed.

Head office told me that it is any 4 products from the listed brands and I would have to have the CS add the points for me if they don't show up.

Great fun. >:(

Oh and it does give points with a PM if it is one of the "special" items that does give points.
