The owner kept the monkeys as pets, but saw one of them copying him one day, so he handed him a hot towel and watched him bring it to a customer. Now he's deliberately training three more, which actually concerns us a little. Two monkeys is hilarious, but put five monkey waiters together and you're risking a monkey union, which we imagine won't be quite so enjoyable—imagine Sally Field throwing her poo at the other factory workers instead of scribbling on cardboard.

No tipping because they don't care!!!

Oh snap, the monkey is way better then illegal immigrant labor. Plus, they work for free.

But what happens if they start throwing poo...

Hey, monkeys already serve as valuable assistants in several capacities.
Organ grinders, helpers for the disabled...

And of course, the trunk monkey.

Would they throw a monkey fit if you raised your hand for service?

They seem to be well-behaved and happy monkeys.

Monkeys are popular as pets in North America. The owners treat the monkeys as little kids.

But as the monkeys grow older, some of them become aggressive and violent to their owners. So the owners give them up to monkey sanctuaries in North America.

The owners end up regretting that they adopted the monkeys and tried to raise them as humans. They come to realize that the monkeys are not humans and the baby monkeys should have stayed in their natural environment- in the jungle with their real monkey family.

Humans suck.

May be they got tired of ASIMO robot technology. found it difficult to design and train(Program). Monkey is easiest.
I bet PETA will start screaming now. Exploitation.

If you're good enough to get mugged by Winnie the Pooh, you're good enough to get served by a monkey.

That's why those monkey should wear white gloves.

What type of monkies are those? They seem really... kinda human.

I guess it grew up in a domestic environment so that probably had something to do with it.

^ They're macaques.[wiki link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaque)]

Here's the video again, this time with some witty British narration:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1DBuFgt_Ug&feature=related

Don't you hate it when you go to a restaurant and the waiters are rubbish.. complete monkeys? Well in Japan, they don't -- they like their waiters to be monkeys -- macaque, to be precise. And as this man can reassure us, they are actually better than the worst waiters.

[customer] : "The monkeys are actually better waiters than some really bad human ones."

Great... so that makes the monkeys just 'bad waiters', not 'really bad' ones. I'm sold already..

I wonder if he gets tipped in cash or bananas.

actually they're tipped in cooked soy beans. lol.

and the monkeys can only work for 2 hours a day (due to animal rights regulations), so that's why the owner is going to train 5 monkeys. so that means...the owner can get 10 hours of free labour. haha.
