If most animals are allowed to roam freely in public, the human race would be in trouble.
It's just that human-sized insects in particular would be particularly troublesome.

Clash of the titan, I want to see a PPV battle between Japanese Giant Hornets vs Africanized Honey Bees.
It seems all the insects shown have been naturally selected except for the Africanized Honey Bees, it's genetically engineer by a human.
And it will be in the northern climate really soon.

Argh!!! My spouse works at a grocery store, and once found a black widow on his hand one day while putting away the grapes! It had the red hour glass shape on it - perfectly shaped. My husband didn't get bitten, and to this day, I still look very carefully at the bags of grapes I am going to purchase, [and freak out over every little moving stem, etc.]
In answer to OP's question, #1 is the most scary, as is the bot fly (human.) You all have to admit, #1 takes the cake. OP, we need a poll, yes? :cheesygri
Spiders - least scary of all, since they don't fly around your head, or buzz, either. (With the exception of black widow spiders.)
Centipedes aren't quite as freaky as millipedes, which are really gross.
Moths are disgusting - they fly around aimlessly. Like little bats.
Sigh - without insects, our world would not survive.
Thank God for ladybugs!! :cheesygri (The last scary of all insects.) Dragonflies are pretty cool, unless they are those HUGE ones.
When we were in Disneyland, you should have seen the size of the odd wasp or whatever it was, flying around -almost as huge as a hummingbird - FREAKY! WTH was that??? Very orange, too. Maybe they were non-stinging. One can only hope! :)

Land crabs are harmless too, but freak me out because they're practically impossible to see. Luckily they're more scared of us than we are of them and run and burrow pretty quickly if you are getting near one so little chance of actually stepping on one. When I was in Hawaii (Kauai to be exact), I went down to the ocean one night. With the lights from the resort behind me I could see the shadows of them running and then burrowing a tiny holes in the sand and disappearing into them. I didn't even know there were land crabs on the beach till that night. Needless to say, I didn't go down there barefoot at night again, but the thing was once I knew they were there I couldn't enjoy myself even during the day because now I knew they were there and could see the little hole in the sand (which meant nothing to me before that night) and knew exactly what was in those little holes....lol.

Usually, what I do is throw a sheet of paper towel over it and drop a phone book on it. Then, I jump on the phone book repeatedly. That way, I know for sure that it's dead. I don't want to take any chances. I hate bugs, but I hate killing them more. Too much guts and crunching noises.

The island in question is Nikumaroro Island formerly Gardner Island. Apparently the crabs there do attack, and are very brazen...some even falling from trees etc when you walk by them. From what I read though they are an anomaly, as most don't attack.

Yeah, the pic you posted is different from the land crabs I saw in Kauai. The ones I say were literally clear, no color at all, which is why you can see their shadow but not them. Knowing they're there, but not easily visible is what is so freaky to me....uggh, I think I need outta this thread now, I'm getting the heebie geebies all over again...lol.

totally agree, we have this spider here, i think it first showed up 5 or 6 years ago.
over the summer my friends sister in law was bitten by one while she was visiting... she is still having lots of problems from the bite.
i dont see the black widow as being that feared... we have them everywhere here, but they usually keep to themselves in dark wet places and do not venture into the house, thankfully!!
as for the other bugs, that is why i dont want to travel to places like that :-0

people are underestimating the africanized honey bee. even though i voted for the bot fly, the africanized bee is much more common and chances of encountering it are much higher. if you disturb the nest, it will swarm you to death. other bees just leave you alone and you can get away from them usually after a few stings. i saw a national geographic thing on the deadliest insects and yup, the africanized bee was one of the ones at the very top. imagine 1000 bees swarming your face and body, each one stinging you and slowly injecting venom into your body. horrific. another reason why i hate bugs and camping.
