Post it on Freecycle.

In our city we have a EcoStation that takes in everything metal, which should cover your bedframe. It's free of charge too. You may wish to talk to your city officials if you have one.

Just to re-iterate my point, there is no reason to take a perfectly good bedframe and have it recycled, even if it is free to do so.

Odds are someone in your area needs one or would love a new one because theirs is broke or something.

Post it on Freecycle. Re-use is much more green than Re-cycle.

true that - I've gotten rid of everything form old beds to old couches to old tvs this way. (actually, through the free section of craigslist)

I also concur that if there's someone willing to come to your place and take your stuff for free, that this is a far better solution than throwing it away, even if it does get recycled.
