My sister, niece and myself accepted the offer by these scam artists. Our first cruise was cancelled because the ship was "commissioned" to help in the hurricane relief. I understand and glad the ship was available. But what about us? They offered 4 nights on Carnival Cruise ship to Cozumel. Yeh we said, then had to pay $604Cdn for the pleasure. Before we arrived in Ft.Lauderdale we got a phone call via the taxi driver (that's odd), that the cruise had been cancelled and "there was nothing we can do for you" was said. We were given food vouchers for the two nights there, then drove to Orlando and we were expected to go through another time share presentation. We refused and they gave us our 5 nights and food vouchers. What "free" food. A glass of orange juice cost about $8 because the juice isn't part of the voucher and it included taxes and gratuities!!!! For what? The food was terrible in both places. Stale, lifeless, and poor selection. The Orlando room had black mold in the grid of the a/c, rust and dirt in corners, the plaster on the walls and ceiling were bubbling, a hole in the wall was covered with 3 pieces of plastic screwed into the edges of the hole, the retractable clothes line was broken and the string dangled. It was disgusting. Then to add to all that, the hotel was surrounded by highways and we couldn't go for a leisurely walk we had to drive miles away for anything to do. We all ended up with upper respiratory infections, exhausted, frustrated and disgusted.
Florida found more ways to fleece us than any under developed country has tried. Everywhere we turned we were putting out extra money.
The taxi at the airport fleeced us. The first quote was $40, then just as we were getting into the cab the guy said he made a mistake and it was really $45, then the driver said as we were driving away that that price was also wrong and it was $50! Just an example of the abuse we received in Florida and the Ramada Plaza corporation.
I'm sending letters to The Florida Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services, Better Business Bureau, and if I can find the corporate office address of the Ramada I'll send them a copy (I don't think the Commercial Blvd address is the corporate office).
I will never go to Florida again and I certainly won't patronize any Ramada Plaza property or affiliates.

The first sentence "My sister, niece and myself accepted the offer by these scam artists" was the right statement.
I am not sure I can offer sympathy because of all the scams, this one has gotten so much attention and press that everyone should know by now.
Go ahead and send your letters, chances are that they will end up in the sucker pile. I hope you all learned something.
Oh, and don't blame Florida, it was self inflicted wounds.

Why exactly is Florida at fault?? Come on people you get what you pay for and if it is too good to be true - it usually is.

Experienced travellers would not get scammed this way.

Lesson learned, but don't blame the whole state.

I simply dont understand when are people going to wake up and learn, especially considering this has been going on for over 5 years.

Registering on RFD just to complain about this will not help. Had you looked through the forum before, you would have not been scammed as this topic has been covered;

I GOT MY MONEY BACK!!!! HERE IS HOW
Hi everyone. I too was ripped off by this company. So I called the Florida State Department of Consumer Affairs and I field a complaint.

If you are like me, and you did not sign any papers, but verbally agreed to pay, then ACCORDING TO FLORIDA STATE TELEMARKETING LAWS, you are not required to pay.

So if you file a complaint, then they will contact the company and in a few weeks your credit card will be reimbursed.
