I bought this exact TV at the beginning of the summer full price of course but it was well worth it. The TV is really good for video games, movie and as monitor. It's connected to my PC now and I'm using it as monitor now. A 40" monitor is awesome :cheesygri
At that price, if you are looking for a TV right now, go for it.

The 10-Day sales says it's in-store and online. Since it's in-store and within 30 days, you should be able to get it, if you go in tomorrow. Go get your $150+tax. :)
You could alway call them to verify so you don't drive out for nothing. Though gas prices will drop below $1.00 / L tonight!!!!

Would anyone take this over the 42" Plasma Panny PX80 deal for 999.
don't really care for the size difference. Plasma is suppose to have better PQ but the "bad" thing its 720p, i hear it can be pushed to a higher resolution with a HTPC, but i dont plan on getting that.
I'll use the TV mostly for ps3 and movies, cable not so much.

Print the Soundsarround flyer and get the price match for $898 (TH42PX80) and get extra 10% off the difference ($10.1)
Will be cheaper if you price match it at Visions.
(5% off the ticket price).

I'd take ANY plasma over ANY lcd. In fact, I'd take a plasma EDTV (480 lines) over an lcd 1080p.

I wouldn't take a plasma EDTV over a 1080p LCD...plasmas provide better looking IQ but in a bright room (lots of sunlight), LCDs > plasma.

If you're referring to RF coaxial input, yes it does have it. I have the RF coax cable connected directly to the tv. Where did you see that it does not? Here are the specs from Samsung's site. The manual can be downloaded from the right side menu too:
http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/detail/spec.do?group=tv&type=tv&subtype=lcd&model_cd=LN40A550P3FXZC&fullspec=F
If you're referring to digital coaxial (SPDIF) input though, you are right. I wasn't even aware that any mainstream tvs have SPDIF inputs. That's what a receiver is for. :D

Both futureshop's and bestbuy's website state 0 coaxial cable input. Have a look for yourself. I was looking to make the jump to HD despite my 32" sony tube tv still running strong.

They're probably referring to the digital coaxial (SPDIF) cable input that I was talking about. Either that or they messed up. Hope that helps. :D

Once you see phosphor lag on a plasma, you can't 'unsee' it. I just can't watch plasmas anymore.

I was offered $950 by future shop sales rep this morning but TV seemed to be too large for my coupe car to carry home. Still enjoying the 32A450 I snatched for $540 last weekend. By Xmas I might change my mind and try to buy this TV again for living room.

Do it and you won't regret a bit. We may see this at around $800 mark by Xmas.

So because there may be occasionally some lag, you'd rather get an lcd that will have major lag 100% of the time ?

Credibility was gone when you said you'd choose a EDTV plasma over a quality HD LCD.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't tolerate that when gaming and it is not even remotely close to lcd motion lag (which is virtually non-existent now anyway).
