I'll be going to stay at that area for a while so I am just wondering if you have any recommendations. Thanks.

that's a dead zone for decent restaurants in general, never mind Asian... take the TTC, and head to Broadview/Gerrard for Chinese/Vietamese food... couple of decent Japanese restaurants at Broadview/Danforth... or head a little north for Imperial Buffet at Warden/Eglinton... all should be within 30 minutes or less on TTC.

If you want something that is walking distance to Main and Danforth then I dont have many ideas. If you are able to move around a bit (either by car or TTC) then you can try a restaurant called Wok With Yu near Warden and Eglinton. Its a Indian Hakka cuisine restaurant, but I have been going there for a number of years, and even had them catered an event before. My favourite items are Chili Chicken and Pepper Steak.

I used to live around that area. In terms of chinese grocers, you can find them on the south west side of Main and Danforth. Limited, but my family always went there, it was well priced and pretty decent stuff. There's a sobeys there if you need the non-asian stuff.

I believe I found a Japanese place (they might've closed down, but I think the place that opened in its place is also asian) if you walk west on danforth, keeping to the north side. You'll find maybe 1-2 places between Main and Dawes, on Danforth. If you venture further to Vic Park & Danforth, you'll find Wing Wing's or something. I haven't tried their food but their bubble tea is decent. It is more expensive than pmall tho (cheaper than bubble tease...which is the biggest rip off.).

I've been to Basil Thai before. It's not bad for the area. I'd give it maybe a 6/10 or 7/10. It would be better if it wasn't as greasy and pricey.

There's also a place on Woodbine, north of Danforth (Mortimer) called Thai Wok (1235 Woodbine Avenue) that's also pretty good for that area.

While not exactly an asian restaurant, Bistro Camino at Danforth & Dawes is a very good restaurant by a Japanese chef (Hiro, like the Heroes character lol). I'd highly recommend trying it.

btw, there's also a Duckworth's Fish & Chips location just east of Main St that's good if you're in the mood.

Second this recommendation for Bistro Camino. This is a local gem and I try to go there whenever I'm in the area.

I have always gone with one of their daily specials especially the seafood ones. Btw, I think the food style is more French than Italian.
