Guys......
listen to a 100% italian, buy at least Barilla (500g should be around 1.10, 1.30 max), forget about unico.....(in Italian means unique).
I you want to step up, try De Cecco or Garofalo (this is expensive....)
Comment about Rice? ask a chinese, for pasta you need an italian!

If you like chinese rice, get the Rooster Brand at RCSS (sale prices usually $25 for the big bags 30-40 lbs). Best if you cook in a rice cooker (5-10 bucks for a 4-6 cup cooker). 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water usually, depends on your liking and the cooker. Yes I'm Asian, and I do prefer this rice. :cheesygri

this would be hot if they were 900g bags... the 900g used to sell for $0.49, $0.69 before the big hike... now one can find them at $1.99 everywhere...

Food Basics has pasta on for $1 for 900 grams starting tomorrow (Friday).
The brand is Primo if that matters. I find they're all basically the same.

Please explain in physical terms what makes one brand better than another. I'd hate to think something is better just because I pay more for import costs.

Ironically, I bet most North Americans would prefer the style of pizza we have here to real Italian style pizza.

thats a range of 10-30% more in prices, to me as long as is edible and cheap is okay, i don't see a point of having $1.30 pasta comapred to $1 ones, the are similar...as for rice, doesn't matter either,

can you even taste the difference between 2 pastas? Italian brands cost 30-50% more.

Pasta tastes the same to me regardless unless it's whole wheat versus white pasta.
