Was at HD for a toilet. Get a Pegasus Gemini for $99 and you can get a $100 rebate from Peel region. That means I only need to pay tax for a Dual Flush toilet. - Good deal.

I'll ask the questions that everyone is dying to know...

Does it have banding issues when leaving skid marks on it?

Should I wait until the 1080p toilets come out since they should have better peeing quality than this one at 720p?

Will dual flush win the format war versus single flush?

Decisions, decisions...

I am not exactly sure, but I did see a message on the Peel region website that the dual flush toilet available at HD was not eligible for the rebate (this was after the toilet went on sale for 9.99 a cpl of months back)

It may not hold any more but verify before you buy.

When I moved in last year in to my house the previous owners installed one of these as a new bathroom and it did not last 1 year!! The previous owners did not have the receipt so I couldn't take up the warranty.

When I went to home depot and asked for the parts to purchase they claimed they don't sell them or have them. I made many phone calls and could not for the life of me get a straight answer so I said screw it and bought a American Standard Cadet 3. Awesome.

Oh and the way the flush system works is garbage, but hey if it's free why not. Just pay for the wax ring to install and then another one when the pegasus breaks and you have to replace it w/ a new toilet. :cheesygri

As for Peel's region rebate program

here is a link
http://www.region.peel.on.ca/watersmartpeel/indoor/eligible-toilet-list.htm

Select
$1 - $200
and
Glacier Bay

Scroll down to Pegasus Dual Flush, this is listed at $159 with $100 rebate, now HD is listing it for 109. So that means
$109 * 1.13 = 123.17 - $100 = $23.17 + cost of installation if you are not doing it yourself.

Oh sorry man, i'm in Quebec. I didn't know that it is only for Quebec because it is a local resource. That's why i expect there is no such toilet in Quebec HD stores :D.

In Winnipeg we pay for water. It is a cost but to be honest I am in favor of it. When I was in Montreal I found people wasted water all the time. Such as leaving the "wasting old school faucet" gushing water for long periods of time for no real reason. I would go over and turn it off out of habit. They always thought I was nuts. I responded it was a waste of water. Their response was "It's ok it's free here".

Considering in the next few decades one of the bigger wars with the most causalities is projected to be very likely over water, Canadians should value our easy access to water.

And no I'm not an environmental nut in the least. You need water to live .... I like living

Here in Edmonton, we pay for the water and then we pay a sewer fee based on the water usage, so there's your incentive to save water. If you get free water or a flat rate for water, consider yourself lucky. I would expect that won't last forever.

Oh, by the way, can we price match this at STOOpLes?

Spend the extra money and get an American Standard. even though that glacier bay is free. its horrible, make sure you buy a good plunger.. I purchased one the last time they had them in stock about a year ago for $99.99. The american standards i purchased take everything down, even on a 3L flush. I've had them (american standard flow-wise dual flush) about 5 months and never once had to plunge :)

I can really show some control and do a 1080i. Until you can do interlaced peeing (every other line), you're not going to impress anyone.

My question:
Can these toilets handle "rear projection" at 120 Hz (that's a lot of rapid rear projection)?

The Pegasus is fine for people with girly man loafs but if you want to poop like a man you need a real mans potty.

A Toto is the Rolls Royce of pottys. You can drop a three pound loaf in there and it'll gulp it down in one flush. The American Standard Cadet 3 is close in performance. Its good for a 2.5 pounder or so.

Toto's are only sold through real plumbers supply distributors. Home Depot has the Cadet 3's in the various models they come in but they are actually cheaper at Andrew Sherret by about $40 for the set in BC.

We have a small motel and toilets are a literal pain in the butt! Since we are on a water meter we look for the newer toilets that use less water....but they tend to plug more.

One type of toilet that seems to work quite well and is very low maintainance is the niagra flapperless. We have some 4.8lpf toilets that work quite well. I'm quite happy with them. We get them from our local Home Hardware but I'm not sure if all home hardware's carry them. I pay around $175 each for them. Plus made in Canada.

I got the dual flush from Rona too with the instant rebate. I had bought two previously and waited for the cheque. No Peel doesn't come to inspect. You can get the rebate form from Rona. Complete it, attach receipt and mail it off. Took about 2-3 weeks and I got my rebate. There is a limit of 3.

Not sure of the name...think Foremost...that's the dual flush I have. It has the two buttons on top. Works like a charm. I use the small flush for everything and not manage to plug it yet.

Neighbour on the next street has four crapper line up neatly on the curb.

Not in Peel region. I have personally changed 4 toilets over the last year and have gotten my cheques in the mail within 4-6 weeks. But honestly, if you're in Peel region, and you need to change a minimum of 3 toilets i would suggest getting an eco-home inspection done, I ended up getting my toilets for free. $100 back from Peel, and another $100 from eco-home and that was each toilet. The inspection will cost you $315, but in the long run, just changing toilets makes it worthwhile if you have nothing else to do.

well... last time HD had this toilet on sale for $109, and then $100 instant rebate, so ended up paying $9 + tax.

and for this price, dont expect anything, it's dual flash, 4.x L and 6.x L.. and taht's why it qualifies for the $100 peel rebate, for a single flush 6.0L ones, u only get $60 back. this is small round toilet.

mail it in with your receipt to watersmart, u will get the rebate back... i did two when HD advertise american standard flowise, regular $240, minus $100 in store rebate, minus $100 peel rebate... nice elongated toilet, very happy with it, and i still have one of this $9 toilet waiting to install....

All these toilet stories are great...but does it go BA-WOOSH!!! like Al Bundy's Ferguson... Quote:

"Bud, the toilets of today aren't worthy of the name. They come in designer colors and they're too low. And when you flush them, they make this little weak, almost apologetic sound. Not the Ferguson. It only comes in white. And when you flush it, BA-WOOSH. That's a man's flush, Bud. A Ferguson says, "I'm a toilet. Sit down and give me your best shot."

h**t s**t, where did you find this quote. Yeah, this was when Al installed his personal toilet in his garage. Wow, memories........

Neighbour on the next street has four crapper line up neatly on the curb.
Three yellow and one green toilets and bowls, all original color.
Been sitting there for over two weeks already, no one or body ever bother to take it away.

Wonder why?

Hopefully he flushed before he removed them. Otherwise, that would explain why they are still there :cheesygri
Seriously though, I think they will not pick up the toilets unless you've separated the tank from the toilet. Think I read that somplace.

I think it's the flush leaver has two parts, one for piss and small dump and the other for big dump.

did they make the hole at the bottom bigger? the can i have now has a hole that is too small for my dumps, so sometimes they can't get flushed down....

Thanks to Super Mayor Hazel, that sexy biatch

When I went to home depot and asked for the parts to purchase they claimed they don't sell them or have them. I made many phone calls and could not for the life of me get a straight answer so I said screw it and bought a American Standard Cadet 3. Awesome.

Amen to that. Next time I'm only sticking with a brand like American Standard where I know I can get parts pretty much anywhere. That leads me to...

A Toto is the Rolls Royce of pottys.

I have a Toto. It works fine and all but when it comes to finding parts I could only find them at a local boutique plumbing shop (and of course pay the exorbitant pricing). Never again. If I can't find a part at Home Depot or Rona then I'm not interested in the brand.

That (to me) is the big problem these days with darn near everything we buy from the Big Box stores - trying to get replacement parts. Luckily there is the Internet if you don't pay too much for shipping or have a way to get parcels up from the US.

I don't understand, what kinda replacement parts do you need to maintain a crapper? I have been sitting on an American Standard for the last 6 years, I only had to replace the rubber stopper inside the water tank.

Maybe you should have asked the local boutique plumbing shop to sell you extended warranty?

I kind of liked the jokes around here.

A bit off topic....

The company I work for use to host the website for the Flapperless Toilet system, however when Niagra Flapperless bought them out, they didn't keep their domain ( flapperless.com ). I ended up renewing it myself as I thought it might be a fun one to do something with. For the minimal cost to renew a domain and re-direct it to their primary site, you would have thought they would have kept it.

If it's yellow, let it mellow
If it's brown, flush it down.

is this only for Peel region, what about York region?

york region does not yet have a rebate program

and the other guy is right pegasus are garbage, even if its free the price is still to high

These things are everywhere in Australia.

thats because its the law there, because of the scarcity of water
dual flush toilets were invented there by Caroma, which are still the best dual flush toilets IMO

Wow, I learn something new everyday! I did not realize that in some places you don't get charged for your water usage. Sounds crazy to me. I always thought everyone paid for water. Wouldn't people water their lawns all day if they are not getting charged?
