I do - '98 Ford and '01 Hyundai. Both in great shape and - best of all - fully paid for. Can't imagine being in the market for another year or two.

I've owned 3 North American cars, 2 BMWs and 5 Japanese cars in my life. I'd take the BMW or Japanese any day.

Part of the automakers plea deals with the issue of: are they producing products people buy?

Nothing :)
Kinda funny actually, my younger brother who is 17 is going for his G2 in a few weeks. I am 19, and have no plans to go for it till atleast May 2009. A car would help, when I commuted last year I had to leave when my Dad left in the morning. That's fine, but if class starts at 12pm..getting up at 7am was a pain. Since I live closer to school now, I just walk wherever I need to go.
Parents have an 05 Civic and 04 Odyssey, both bought used (2007 and 2008 respectively).
Never have owned a domestic, well a Mercury Villager (1997 to 2003).

1971 Jaguar XKE
1980 Chevrolet Silverado 3/4 ton

1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
You could say....that I like old GM's.. hehe. Never owned any of those 'foreign' cars (except for the Jaguar).
I drive whatever happens to be roadworthy that day, as at least 2 or 3 of them, at any given time, are in some state of needing repairs... The pickup and one of the Oldsmobile's are on their last legs..

You should consider buying something new before hyperinflation hits.

2 sturdy legs since '88. I don't intend on getting a car until after I have a mortgage - that's the plan anyways.

Mazda can be included with Ford anyway so that would leave room for another option like Hyundai.

We had one of those Oldsmobiles. It was a boat but it was so comfortable to sit in.
Even if the govt throws good money after bad by bailing out these crumbling companies, I will NOT buy from any of these companies.
Does anyone else think that perhaps the govt could be investing this money instead into building efficient and clean underground public transit and pedestrian only roads downtown instead? That would create jobs and it would be a long lasting improvement to urban cities across Canada.

This poll would have worked much better if it was "Which country is your car from?" or something that.
It will really show how many actually drive American compared to Japanese, Korean or Germany. Then have "other" for the exceptions.

it'll be sad if the BIG 3 goes... not that i buy their cars, but their huge presence in the market kept the others pushing further which in turn pushes themselves
competition is a good thing
i don't support the bailout btw.. i hope they die and come back as something else... hopefully without the unions

Drives Honda and Acura. I'm against the bailout. First was the job bank (people got paid 95% even laid off) which is now history, but the problem doesn't stop there. I'm sure you can hit up tons of articles online about Big 3's problems. Even I'm not an American, I think it's dumb to use tax payers' money to extend the life of these failing companies (which $34b was a start, as some economists predicted that for them to survive the whole crisis, they'll need as much as $125b or more). Bailout is just pushing the inevitable further out in the future. It's not solving the problem, more like patching a cracking water dam.
