Hi, I'm looking for a place to get the safety standard certificate and to do an emissions test as well. I'm looking for something less than 100...the dealer quoted me 105 tax included.

I understand that e-test will be about 35 bucks, but i'm not sure how much the certificate would be.

Any place in Scarborough / Markham would be preferred.

Thanks!

You can try First Choice Auto at Heritage Blvd, across from Markville mall.

Ask for Stephen. He did a safety and e-test for me. I don't have the price for just the certifications (I had some other work done), but the total he charged me was less than I expected....

i called some place and they quoted me:

$65 safety cert
$35 emissions test
$50 for transmission fluid change (drain and refill)

reasonable?

The cheapest saftey would be about $50.00, and thats if you know someone.

Yes, that is very reasonable...except for the transmission drain and fill.
The drain and fill they offer will drain perhaps 3 litres of fluid and add 3 litres. Your transmission (I am assuming automatic) can hold as much as 10. You need a flush and fill to get everything out of the torque converter. Otherwise, just leave it alone.

Just updating this older thread with some new information.

I just got my vehicle inspected and found a place in Scarborough (Impera Body and Paint) which did it for $60 + tax. That's pretty good considering I was quoted $75 at another scarboro location. Not sure how much Canadian Tire would charge but I suspect I'd have to sell them one of my kidneys.

Here is a list of all inspection stations in Toronto:
