Are phone features ( pc-to-phone music. FM Radio, GPS,Organiser and wifi connections....) becoming more important than the network features.

I thinking if you Don't NEED a 3 yr data plan (or IPhone) .

I'm just asking.

Features sell, so manufacturers are trying to load them up with as many features as possible, regardless of whether they actually need a network connection. As an overall trend, both sides are getting better and becoming more interdependent - networks are getting faster, and although new devices are becoming more feature rich, many of the latest features are either network dependent or work better with a good network connection.

However, there are exceptions, such as the iPhone, which is the perfect example of a phone that can't be sold on its features (or to be more accurate lack thereof compared to the competition), but through its wifi or cellular network connection it connects people to the internet and online multimedia better than a lot of other devices.

What are network features? You hit a limit with network features (what more can you get, other than CID, VM, SMS, etc). With "phone features" you have more power (ie, App Store). Phone features tend to rely on network features, both are important (iPhone's browser uses the 3G network, iPhones VVM uses the VVM system).
