I installed the Nintendo Wifi connector with the latest software. Install went smoothly - and I was playing tetris online in no time. But on the computer I installed it in I have a shared directory that I can access from a couple of different computers on my network. That share won't work anymore.

My setup

2 computers (1 windows XP & 1 windows MCE) connecting to the internet through a router (WPA2 thus the reason I need the wifi connector)

on one of the computers (windows MCE) I have a shared folder I must access from all the machines

The share is no longer working - I have double checked that it is still shared - turned sharing off and back on. Rebooted. I have also tried sharing a different folder. It is like the other computers can't see that computer anymore. I also tried sharing a folder on the other machine and checking if from the one I installed the wifi connector on - it didn't work that direction either.

I un-installed the wifi connector - share starts working again

I re-installed the wifi connector - shared folder not working again

So any suggested solution to this - I must have that share.

You have a wireless router?

Why do you need the connector again? You do know that Wii has built in wifi and will work in WPA2 without the connector.

Why do you need WPA2 when WPA is suffice?

It is for my DS - it only uses WEP and I am not downgrading from WPA to a cracked security just to play tetris and mario kart online.

I do have a Wii and it is connected through the router and working fine.

Ahhh ok, you didn't say DS in the OP, so I assumed Wii.

How is WPA less secure than WEP. Unless you don't put a security password on WPA, it is just as secure as WEP is it not?

WEP - is unsecure because it has been cracked - this IS supported by the DS
WPA - is secure - it is what I use - it is NOT supported by the DS

So I am not going to use the unsecure WEP just to play a game - thus the reason I bought the wifi connector.

Now back to the original question. Why is my share broken when I use the connector and is there a way to fix it.

My neighbor named his network "Jesus_is_Lord". So I named mine "Jesus_is_gaylord".
