Same company, new website... by the sounds of it they're going to run both in parallel.

Absolute worst movie of the year. It started off great, and went downhill from there. I never knew Vin could outrun a heat seeking missile until I saw this film.

Calling this version of Babylon A.D Raw and Uncut is pure BS. The original cut of this movie(which was only seen in parts of Europe) is 161min and will probably never make it to DVD or Blu Ray. The studio cut the hell out of this movie(without the Director's consent) and did a piss poor job of editing to boot.

If you think there are holes in this movie you're right. Blame the studio not the director.

Not trying to be negative or anything but how is this a scam? I've never heard of this place before. Was there some kind of problem with CHCanada in the past?

its not really a scam, but more...that poeple dont read the very litlle small print, that said that you MUST buy at least a minimum of x items per year, and blah blah blah...

"If your account becomes overdue, or if you do not fulfill your purchase commitment within each 12-month period you remain a member of CHCanada.com, or if you cancel your membership before fulfilling your purchase commitment for the 12-month period in which you cancelled your membership, we will send you a reminder. If, thereafter, you do not fulfill your Membership Agreement, the credit card you have chosen to keep on file will be charged $5.99 for each remaining purchase commitment selection(s) (i.e., up to two missed DVD purchase commitments per year at $5.99 each), plus shipping and any applicable sales tax. Certificates will be sent to you which can be applied towards the selection(s) that fulfills your membership commitment. If you incur such charges, and do not subsequently apply the Certificates you will receive towards the selection(s) that fulfills your membership commitment, within 3 months of receiving the Certificates, your account will be cancelled and no further charges will be incurred. You may cancel your membership at any time by contacting us at the above-noted address. There are no cancellation fees or charges associated with cancelling your membership. However, and as noted above, if you cancel your membership before fulfilling your purchase commitment(s) for the 12-month period in which you cancel membership, $5.99 plus shipping and applicable sales tax will be payable per missed purchase commitment."

There never was a 161 minute cut. The UC/DC/whatever people call it, was only an extra 10 minutes longer.

Seem's like a good deal if you all need to buy is 2 DVD's, especially BD's at $14.

Here's what's NEW:

• No more unwanted shipments with automatic billing.

This is a biggie! From now on, we’ll send you only what you ask for. You’ll receive only the items you absolutely want.

• Low, one-time membership fee of $5.99 – waived for our introductory offer!

Not a monthly fee, not a yearly fee – a one-time fee!
Good for as long as you choose to remain a Member.

• New simplified shipping rates.

Now just $1.99 per disc for orders up to 2 discs.
Orders of 3+ discs get a flat $5.99 shipping rate – total! No matter how many discs you order.

• Everything you want at one convenient website.

Browse and buy the hottest DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs and much more—with the convenience of online credit card shopping.

• New easy commitment.

You simply agree to buy 2 DVD titles per year. Only 2 titles—at any price!

One thing that seems a little iffy is:

Fulfilling Your Purchase Commitment...

We reserve the right to limit the number of selections we will send. Multiple quantities of particular selections may also be limited.Does this mean they send you movies without you requesting them (contradictory to their "No more unwanted shipments with automatic billing"), or if you try to order 20 DVD's, they can say no. I'm guessing it's the latter.

yep +1

"Babylon AD has never had a 2h40min cut. This rumor came from a joke Mathieu did in front of some journalists last september. Apparently some of them didn't understand it... The approximate length of the film is 1h40min and this is what has been delivered to our partner, FOX. So I can reassure you, FOX is not chopping up the film and cutting 70min like I read on Rotten Tomatoes ! :-)

Oh and about the PG13, that was a contractual agreement between Fox and us, so there is no surprise on that end.

The truth is Fox - like any other studio - will have their final cut on their territories and Mathieu Kassovitz has his on the European ones. So there will naturally be a few differences between the two versions."

well with ColumbiaHouse (for exemple) you have to buy disk ar overpriced price. They send you sh*t every month and so on..

Here, the price of "normal" bluray is $25, as good, if not better than other store.

Even if we have to buy 2 disks by year, at that price, I don't see any problem.

I'm missing something..

There never was a 161 minute cut. The UC/DC/whatever people call it, was only an extra 10 minutes longer.

IMDB lists an uncut 161min version of the film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364970/

Runtime:
USA:90 min | France:101 min | 161 min (original uncut version) | Argentina:90 min

The film's production was reportedly riddled with problems, from vast delays to budgetary concerns to weather setbacks. Kassovitz points to the studio, "Fox was sending lawyers who were only looking at all the commas and the dots," he says. "They made everything difficult from A to Z." The last stroke, Kassovitz says, was when Fox interfered with the editing of the film, paring it down to a confusing 93 minutes (original reports were that 70 minutes were cut from the film; Kassovitz says the number is closer to 15).

I bit on it. The only possible hassle I see is that buying any future 2 blu rays may not qualify as 2 "dvd"'s...or am I just reading too into it. Not sure, heard bad things from Columbia back in the day, but if they're still around, they can't be that bad (unless they've got the mdg strategy model).

I bit also. Bought Babylon A.D. and The Incredible Hulk. Total came to $36 and some change.

I did watch Babylon A.D. before and it was terrible...however I heard the Uncut was better. Also, the fiancee wants to watch it as well, so for ~$18 all in, why not? I would cost $7 just to rent it if we wanted to, and it's another to add to the BR collection.

then made another order (just in case the first order don't count for the "2 title you have to buy") and ordered Babylon and Batman Begins (not at 13$, but at 17$ its cheaper than Futureshop and same price as Boxing Day amazon)

if not, I will order 2 dvd.. The price on the site isn't like the overpriced "regular/old" CH. They even beat FS and amazon on some.

Worst case, they charge you 2x$5.99.

Im still with Columbia house too, and they have great prices on Blu rays every month.

You have to buy 1 title at regular price (let's say $32.99 for Pineapple Express) and then you can take unlimited BR's after for normally 50% off. Sometimes I have seen 60% off and they just finished a promotion last month where orders over $39 had free shipping.

Between me and a buddy, we picked up 16 titles (all newer titles) for around $200.

This site does have some good buys though, and with no commitment.

I wonder if the extra 10 minute footage will do the movie any good? So, even this uncut, unrated version is not the true director's cut?

The blu-rays qualify. I called and asked them and they said it does. Only stipulation is that each movie has to be 5.99 or higher.

Thanks for the post, I signed up.

Does the original sign up order count towards your agreement?

Yes, everything you order -- including your first order -- counts as long as its $5.99 or more.

I ordered Hancock, Kung Fu Panda and Hellboy II back in December at $13.99 each and my obligation is done.

(For those that care about such things, Hancock has the English-only cover as opposed to the bilingual version sold here in Canada. The other two were bilingual packaging.)

Hey Red Flag Deals forum readers - next week marks the return of our $13.99 rotating Blu-ray selection - some titles will remain at $13.99 for several weeks and some newer titles will rotating in and out each week - keep your eyes open for the titles you want - I think you'll be happy with what's coming this month. Also, you've been asking about backorder notification - as of today when you receive your shipment notification look carefully - items in stock will show a ship date, items on backorder will show as a blank - once the inventory comes in you will receive another shipment notification telling you the ship date of your backordered product.
