View Full Version : Anyone find a way to watch NBA League Pass Broadband In Canada?

It's ridiculous, the only reason I have cable TV is to watch basketball. I have no interest in anything else on tv, so I figured if there was a way to get NBA broadband for the regular season and then just subscribe to Cable for 3 months or so, I'd be set. But there is no NBA League pass broadband available for Canadians.

Well when they had the NBA League pass free trial, I signed up and couldn't watch it since like you said there was restrictions.

But I found a program called Hotspot Shield by AnchorFree that allowed me to watch NBA League Pass (the program basically sets up a VPN and gives your IP address a different one). Free program and now I can watch NBA League Pass and Hulu! Sweet

Do you have NBA League pass? I'm curious what it actually looks like, with regards to resolution and smoothness...

Theres screenshots on their site regarding how it looks.

Resolution and speed is only good if you have a fast connection. Sometimes it does lag for me but thats because I don't have the fastest connection (3Web kinda sucks sometimes). Otherwise it was fine.

But my free time expired so now I'm just watching through other sources.

When I go to that link and "sign up" and put in my email address and password, on the second step it says this:

We're sorry, but the US version of League Pass Broadband is not available in your region.

If you are outside the US and Canada and are looking for League Pass Broadband, please visit http://ilp.nba.com

If you believe you have reached this page in error, please:

Maybe it's my ISP? Can anyone from Canada confirm that they have actually gotten NBA League pass? I'd change ISPs if I really have to, but I think they may plain not offer it in Canada, even though they say they do....

You gotta use HotSpot Shield to register...

You gotta use HotSpot Shield to register..

To register, or to register and use? Because, correct me if I'm wrong (as I have no clue), but from when I remember trying hotspot shield for another purpose, it would hide me but it would also significantly slow my internet speeds. This would defeat the purpose if I get lagging games...

hi all ... just wondering if anyone knows if hotspotshield is still working to get nba LP from Canada? if so, don't you have give a credit card number to sign up for LP and wouldn't the credit card number be linked to an address in Canada and thereby foil your attempt to circumvent the ridiculousness of not being able to get LP in Canada?

NBA league pass broadband is available for Canadian residents, the site just screws up when you try to register with a Canadian IP address....

Anyways I have it, I think as long as you have an American IP address when you register even with a Canadian credit card you are fine.

hotspotshield didn't work for me, so I use ultrasurf instead, much more easier. just run it, and it opens up IE

http://www.software112.com/products/ultrasurf.html

It also bypasses the blackout when you try to watch Raptors game, you can close ultrasurf once you get the game going.

IIRC I signed up without an American IP (NBALPBB is available to Canadians), BUT I do have to use hotspotshield whenever I want to watch raptors games

For those who have NBA League pass, I assume you don't have Cable TV? If that is the case, how do you handle watching the nationally televized games, like the TNT Thursdays (which I'm watching now lol) and the ESPN games? Those are concurrently shown in Canada at the same time via one of the canadian channels, so they are blacked out from NBA league pass no matter if you use a proxy or not.
