thats a rip; think about it; car invoice is usually 3-4k less than MSRP
Not true in the slightest. No car below $35k has a spread of $3k between invoice and MSRP!!!

What month do they usually bump up incentives to clear out the current model year?
If you look back at the first post its from January, so I'd say about then. Just remember that a deal would need to be done on a cash basis, or at a high interest rate, which would kill the deal.

what is the dealer discount??? did you negotiate this or did they just "discount " it for you.
as for rust proofing i would not do the dealer one and do the krowne rust proofing. imo - better quality and cheaper. plus the extended warranty, i wouldnt bother because of the outstanding honda quality already built in but again.......just my humble opinion. fyi, ive owned 4 hondas since 1986. i only buy hondas new and i dont really want to start changing now. so im a big fan of them.

Thank you boomiec.
The "dealer discount" is just an item listed on the "Vehicle Prechase Agreement", I don't know what is it's meanings. For the rust protection, they told me that if I do the rust proofing myself, it may void the manufacture varranty.
I also bought the CCC report:
2009 Honda Accord Sedan 4dr V6 Auto EX
Retail Price: $32,090.00
Wholesale Price: $29,683.00
So the price ($29890) the dealer gave me is only $207 more than the wholesale price ($29683). Am I missed sth? Do you think it is a good deal? Thanks!

+1 on what boomiec said
just say NO to the Rustproofing. Get it done by a professional shop like Krown Rust Control.
just say NO to the extended warranty. All vehicles have 7-8 year 160,000km 'hidden' powertrain warranties. So you're covered there. (search for Lemon Aid guide on the internet for more info) Also, this is a HONDA. If anything should break $1400 should easily cover most repairs.
it would probably cost the dealer $100 for the rust-proofing ($500 profit for him) and $500 for the extended warranty so ($1000) profit for him there.

Regarding the varranty, the CCC report states:
Manufacture warranty
Basic: 3 Years/60,000 km
Drivetrain: 5 Years/100,000 km
Corrosion: 3 Years/Unlimited km
Rust-Through 5 Years/Unlimited km
Emissions: 3 Years/60,000 km
Roadside Assistance: 3 Years/Unlimited km
I'm considering to call the dealer and cancel the rust proofing and extended varranty. If I do the rust protection at Krown, will it void the manufacture varranty? It is said that Krown may drill some holes on the car body which may affect the warranty.

Thats her job. You think once you've established the purchase price the negotiating is over and you get moved to the buying agent to "complete the paper work." You've now let your guard down and her job is to sell you way over priced "additions." A good agent is like gold to a dealer.

Do you guys think an offer of $1200 off MSRP is fair for a new 2009 Civic si?
Was at the dealer yesterday and they offered me a price about $1000 more than Honda’s web site MSRP price due to their BS fees and security etching which I refuse to pay....I was kind of pissed off.
The sales guy also said that August is the last month for 0.9% but Honda actually wanted to end it in July. I kind of believe this as I noticed on the web site that the interest rate changed temporarily on Aug 1 to 7.9% but was changed back a day later.
I got a $1500 dealer discount for the Civic DX-G in July. So you must be able to do better with the higher price tag on the Si. After some reading, someone here at RFD just got a $1600 dealer discount on the DX-G just last week.

Not sure what is the price for the extended warranty
I paid $395+tax for the rust protection on my brand new Civic DX-G
I know I was ripped off but I thought it was the peace of mind that all rust is covered by Honda for the next 10 years or more
My dad paid $300+tax to rust prove his brand new Camry LE 2009 at Toyota
So I know $300 or less is possible for rust proving

You are probably driving your car already but after you take out the extended warranty and rust protection, I think it is a fairly decent price.
I bought my 2009 Honda Accord EX-V6 back in February for $31,900 OTD, when Honda had deals with cash incentives. Having said that, I still think I paid about $300 too much...

When I bought my Accord, there was a $2500 cash incentive on I4 models (except LX) and a $3500 cash incentive on V6 models. So unless a dealership can give you a similar cash incentive for an outgoing 2009 model, I suspect the answer is no.

I didn't see your post until now but the invoice price for the EX-I4 AUTO was $26,538 six months ago. I would assume the invoice price would be higher now given that Honda has raised the MSRP on the Accords in April.

My 2 cents on extended warranties. Just because the dealer's finance office has the extended warranty prices listed nicely in a brochure has nothing to do with what prices you really "need" to pay. I declined the offer from my dealer for the 6yr/100k warranty at list price. A week after delivery I called up another Honda dealer and they were more than willing to give me the same coverage for $200 off list, which is like around 17% off. It's for an Accord 4-cyl EX-L Navi Auto by the way.
I normally don't believe in extended warranty but just last week I had a puncture in my tire that couldn't be repaired (2 penetrations right beside each other). Luckily the Honda Plus coverage included tire road hazard protection. I got a brand new replacement tire, properly mounted and balanced, reinstalled back onto the car and had the spare tire neatly put back into the trunk for a big zero on the bill.
I think I would've had to fork out around $300 to $350 if I didn't have the tire coverage.

So I went to this website and build the accord I'm interested in. It's shows roughly a $4500 cash discount off the msrp. I went down to the Honda dealership and looked at their cars and they're showing $2500-3k cash discounts on their cars. I was puzzled and pointed the salesman towards the website and left.
He sent me an email explaining that he and his manager went to the website and were confused at first but then "noticed" that is says the freight and pdi are included in the MSRP but it doesn't say they are included in the cash price so therefore they aren't included in the cash price.
It's crap like this that gives car dealers a bad name. Their website has the freight and pdi included in the msrp, the lease rate and the finance rate but not in the cash price? Come on....
God I hate car dealers. So many games.

all acura dealers on vancouver island (includes victoria) are going out of business.. good opportunity to pick up an acura..
Any way to snatch up a hot deal from Toronto? Can you give me the name or names of some of the major Acura dealerships there?
How would I get the car to Toronto?

My dealer offered me an 09 Accord EX-L i4 for $31832 OTD.
Here is the break down:
31290 (msrp)
-3000 (Honda rebate)
-1850 (dealer rebate)
+100 (ac)
+75 (gas <didn't know the accord was considered a gas guzzler)
+5 (some tax thing)
+1550 (PDI)

28170 (before taxes <ontario>)

Because I don't have a CCC report, I am not certain that this is a good deal. But using a CCC report on a 09 accord coupe EX-L that some good soul uploaded here: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=665206 , the deal ain't bad.

Doesn't seem like a great deal at all. Selling my '06 DX coupe with 35k on it for $12k cash. Purchased for $19 drive away (if I had waited until 07 probably could've picked up for $18 drive away with the Honda $1000 rebate that didn't exist in '06).

Well I was told the manufacturer's rebate was $2,000 for the Civic sedan.
Anyways...apparently this is what the original cost is :
$20,780 MSRP
$ 1,395 freight & PDI
$ 100 Air tax
$ 5 OMVIC fee
$ 395 security & safety package
$22,675
$ 2,948 GST & PST
$25,623
and after much bantering, the dealer mentioned the lowest they'll go is $22,300.
So you saying I can find an even cheaper price somewhere else? Where then?

Folks,
I am considering getting an Odyssey - not sure which package at this point.
Any insights on the pricing / availability of the 09 models? I though I read here that there was very limited availability on this mode?
What about dealer pricing, let's say for the DX and the EX-L models?
Any recent purchasing experiences and prices would be appreciated.

Pretty simple...the only 09s left are touring, EX-L...no DX, no LX, likely no EX..so if you want a few grand off a 40k +van..give your local honda dealer a call.:D
Seriuosly, I looked into these end of JULY and the LX and DX were sold out then, except a few dealer demos orodd ducks.

That represents $2,200 of profit. Do you think the margins are $3,000 or so and they're willing to sell for a profit of $800? More likely they'll want to make at least $1K and margins are likely only $2K. $22K may be a good price.

They threw in rear splash guards and two free oil changes, but excluded the glass etching security service, which was priced at $249.00 before tax. I figure the "effective" wholesale price of the car as follows:
$20,000/1.05 GST (Alberta) = $19,048
$19,048- $1395 (Freight+PDI) - $100 (AC tax) - $20 (Tire levy) = $17,533
$17,533+ $2,500 cash incentive = $20,033.
The CCC report lists the wholesale price at $19,325 which means the markup percentage here is $20,033*100/$19,325 = 3.7%. If I subtract the value of the rear splash guards ($91.95), then it appears that the mark up is only 3.2%.
Is my math right?

Hi,
I bought a honda civic 4 door at a honda dealership and they had to locate the car for me as as it wasn't available at their dealership. My first color choice was blue, second silver. I told them i wanted blue, but they couldn't locate it and they found a silver for me. I signed the contract that the car must be below 50kms. Now the salesperson called me advising me that the car has 200km on it and if i should go ahead and order it. I told him that we agreed on the contract the car should have 50km below, I told him to order it and we gota work something out later after we order it. I'm sort of stuck here now. What should i do. I find it strange that the car has 200kms on it and what sort of deal can i work out with the sales person since i agreed to get the car now. I'm in a limbo. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Should have stood firm on your original contract. Once you gave him the ok to get the 200km car, your old contract was void. G'luck trying to get something out of them now.

I went straight to the dealership and spoked with the sales guy. I asked him if this was a showroom car or a possibly a demo car and flat out he said no. I also questioned him why there was 200kms on it if its brand NEW comming from that dealership and he told me it came from other dealerships. Oh and he said it'll probably take a week for the car to get in. I asked why it takes that long and said because of the paperwork and delivery. The car is just 1.5hrs away from the dealership. I knew he was BSing to me. I told him i'll think about this and i'll give him a answer today. He agreed. I left the dealership. Then 5 minutes later, he left a emergency VM on my phone. I asked whats this about. And he told i gota give him a answer by a certain time today, if i wanted the car. And he advised me that the car now has 220km instead the of 200KM and if i wanted it, there will be 300KMS. I told him i'll drop by his dealership this afternoon to give him an answer. I definitely will not take this car.

Getting myself into a similar situation. Just put a deposit down for a Civic DX-A Manual. 18,390 OTR. I believe this is about $300 above ccc cost. They are just about to do the search for the vehicle. They said that we have the option to cancel if the km is anything over 50. Sales person mentioned stock is likely only available outside the GTA, so transportation costs may cause the KM to exceed. Hopefully they dont try and give me a demo. Please keep us posted on anything else you learn. I know I would appreciate it.
The challenge is they are giving out great deals with these 2009 models. If you dont accept the 200km car, you may be out of luck. 2010 cars will be $2500 more. I dont know if you considered, using the extra km to get a better deal, or try and ask them for another color. That is if they cannot find another car with the color you want.

The car i was trying to order had already 224km on it from another dealership, if i wanted to the car it would have been over 300km. I've tried to make a deal with the sales person he wouldn't budge. I'm not in a rush to get a car. Every year they have incentives, as they need to clear out their cars for the next wave of new cars. Oh and i've seen spy shots of the next generation of Civics comming next year.

xj .. did u write in the contract it has to be under 50? If so just don't take delivery, don't even waste time to talk to them. Tell them sort you out a car according to the contract, or get your money back, you don't need to budge at all. Don't buy that transfer from another dealership bs, they should not have more than 20km on them no matter what (even thats being generous....)

i think so, been shopping for a car, I'm in Ottawa/Gatineau region and best I got at Gatineau Honda was 24k for a civic sport automatic. All he really gave me was the 2500$ rebate on the sedan and removed 500$ instead of the cheap winter tire they offered. I'm paying cash too, which i think isn't such a great deal.. if it would been more near the 22-23k I would bought it. I just hate how cheap the DX and DXG feels, handles and mirrors don't match the car paint, cheap wheels.. keyless entry and trunk opening only on upper models..

I dont think there are any discounts on the 2010's. I think the 2009 CR-V still has the $2000 off. CR-V is what we want but I am hoping for some bigger discounts. Not sure it that will happen.

You can see the current incentives at http://cars4u.com/rebates/default.asp?make_id=1070&Make_Name=Honda
The 24/36 month finance rate on the 2010 Odyssey DX is 1.9%... and I'm hoping they'll go at least $1000 below MSRP (cars4u is offering a $740 discount). I'm going to stop by my local dealership this week.

(To be able to take advantage of that price, you have to join the APA for $65/year and then pay $65 for a referral to the broker/dealership -- http://www.apa.ca/ )

18224 is good..and I paid $150 more in Sept. with high expectation. Well just keep in mind that the Canaida made Civic is just not as good as it used to be (93 Civic). They are very, very noise and not smooth(tranny) as the older, older generations. The front fender panel does not even firmly screwed to its body, it produced rattle sound as if on bumpy road, the left turn blind spot even worse and dangerly blocks the clear view right on the left turn entry lane. basically it just not as good as it used to be - disappointed, period.
Only with the discount makes Honda a choice and I could be very regret if I have paid with its full MRSP.

Disagree... Honda sales drop by 10% last month while toyota sales went up by almost 30%... and hyundai sales went up by 40something percent... i think 0% financing + rebate works better than cash incentive...
So honda Canada finally lowers the MSRP on Civic, Accord, CRV, etc on 2010 model... but still they are overpriced...

I think that is the same $3000.
According to CCC the invoice price including shipping and air tax is
$42,883.00, from this you subtract $3000, then add 3% profit, $41,079 plus any dealer prep and tax. I think in Ontario you are looking at min. \$46,419 \OTD.

Toyota Canada Inc. vaulted into the top spot in the monthly auto maker sales rankings in November for the first time ever, preliminary numbers released Tuesday show.
With a gain of 26 per cent from year-earlier levels, Toyota posted its best November on record with sales of 16,112 vehicles.

I agree... White paint on toyota and honda is thin... someone works at toyota factory and he never recommends the base white... he says there is one less layer of paint on white... so i guess honda white is also missing a layer...
If colour is free option, I would definitely pick a metallic colour!
that's the reason why you see a lot of ricers with white (Type-R wannabes), the paint is lighter, weigh less. That's the reason I pick silver cars.

Paint on my '06 Civic is terrible as well, (not to mention the thin body panels). Overall I'm not impressed by the quality of the Civic. My Intrepid is a MUCH better built vehicle. The Civic fit and finish is piss poor.
really. I am very impressed with the fit/finish/paint/interior of my 07 civic (silver). The body panels are probably thin though.

I got quoted 6.9% to finance a 2010 CRV for 60 months. The Honda salesman said "...those 0% financing deals are long gone...". I luv Hondas -think they are well built vehicles ..but my Honda Dealership experience has been that they dont normally discount their vehicles much..and the Honda Dealerships always
make me feel like they are doing me a favour by letting me buy a Honda...
I ended up getting a Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai Dealership sold for Car Cost Canada invoice price, plus $600. Hyundai gave me 0.9% financing for 60 months.

Considering that a new 2009 Acura MDX had the $8K off promotion last summer/ fall and people were able to buy the base MDX including taxes for $50K, $8 K off a demo Pilot is not as good of a deal. I would probably try to negotiate another $1-2K off.

My husband drives the Subaru Outback in the city and the Toyota Tundra (for pulling his trailer full of toys) around in Muskoka.
He is recommending for me in the city the new Honda Crosstour. I've read positive reviews (from the biased Honda owners), and mixed reviews from the media. Anyone here recommend this vehicle, because we haven't owned Honda's before. Can't recall pricing off hand as I type this, though.
We need to replace our wonderful but aging Volvo wagon. Soon to be handed down to our third born child.
I prefer the new VW 2010 Golf TDI wagon for hauling our brood in.

Actually some of us got the 2009 MDX with the Tech Package for $48,000 "on the road" in B.C. including all taxes and fees at the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009 (2009 MSRP before taxes was about $59,500). Times have changed for all Canadian car retailers, and now in February 2010 you now won't be able to come within $12,000 of that $48,000 price so there is no use in comparing prices now to earlier or to the beginning of 2009.......

It's a new model, which makes it hard to get owner reviews. I would say that the thing is too big for it's own good though. I like station wagons, I can appreciate some suvs, but that thing is a monster. If you want what goes as a crossover these days, I'd grab a new Outback personally. That said, I would be happier with a real wagon or a real suv. Even if the styling appeals to you, it is a first model year on an "innovative" vehicle.
Not that I expect you to change your mind based on some random guy on the internet, but there are a lot better luxury tier 4wd vehicles. This coming from someone that likes Hondas. The TDI wagon isn't what I would consider Crosstour's competition but it is a nice car. It's also a new model, and might have some issues, but vw has been doing diesel for a while and the wagon is an old concept.

For those looking at the civic, keep in mind that the 2010 is an outgoing gen and the 2011 9th gen civic will be totally redesigned. Traditionally honda has given their best incentives in the final year of the gen, which has normally been four years but pushed to five for 7th and 8th gens.

$18,395 + $1,395 (freight) + $158 (block heater) + $92 (rear mud guards) + $76 (locking wheel nuts)
This sums to $20, 116 + $500.00 (mark up) + $120 (air and tire tax) + 5 % GST = $21,772.80 ALL IN, inclusive of all fees and GST and including a life time oil card.
How does this compare to other people that purchased recently? I am in Alberta so no PST. How much is the life time oil card worth?

Feb 22nd, 2010, 06:15 PM
It sounds like they are taking you to town the the accessories. Wheel locks are something they have to put on the car for insurance reasons but you are paying MRSP for them to not remove them. Are you really concerned about someone stealing your wheels? They are more of an inconvenience in my books. Do you really need rear mud guards? Rear mud guards at MRSP? You can get aftermarket guards cheaper and I don't really view them as useful.
The block heater I can see. It is at MRSP though, which means you are overpaying for it. The lifetime oil card? Depends on the conditions on it. You'll need to figure out how often you will need to change your oil based on the maintenance minder system, how much the dealer charges or how much you would pay outside of the dealer, and how long you intend to own the car. It is unlikely the dealer will be loosing money on it though.
It seriously looks like you are being bled dry though. Don't walk away from that deal, run!

Hey Deford, thanks for your reply. Do you know how much more MRSP of Honda accessories are compare to OEM?
I thought this deal was pretty good, I have another offer of $21,588 OTD. This is CCC invoice price + $500 (markup) + $150 MRSP block heater + free wheel locks. No mud flaps or life time oil changes which you get for $190 more in the first deal.
Deford
Feb 22nd, 2010, 10:17 PM
If I recall, and I can't say this with authority, the markup on accessories is ~30% for Honda. I think I've seen aftermarket block heaters for ~$50, but you should factor in the install and I am sure they'd find a way to screw you out the of warranty if it wasn't oem. I have a garage so I can't say I've ever seriously looked for a block heater but if I were to get one, I would stick with the OEM one, treating it as a $50 profit for the dealer. Aftermarket mudflaps cost about $40.
I'd look at what you need and go from there, the upselling can make a fortune and put a dent in your pocket. I am going to assume you want the car and the block heater, you mentioned Alberta and while you might be ok without one in Calgary I would think Edmonton gets a little chilly.
Looking at the CC in your post, and assuming the block heater costs them 100, we are looking at 21k pre markup. I don't know if you are financing, but keep in mind they make profit off your loan if you are. If you are trading in, they are also going to make money off of that. Honda is still in a sales funk so I think you can get better than 21500. I'd think you could probably cut another 100-200 off personally. There is no way mud flaps and lifetime oil changes only cost them $150. Essentially they took away the locks and the flaps from the price but removed the locks, flaps, and oil from the table. Yes you are still getting the locks, but they aren't something you need.
Thinking about it, I might have mis-spoke about the oil deal, A dealer oil change costs roughly $30 but it might be more or less at your dealer, and it's easy for that to add up. It is also possible that they will give you the oil but then charge for the manpower to change it. The Civic's maintenance system will also have you do other things when you bring it in. They might give you the free oil change, but the required tire rotation is suddenly more expensive. It's also possible that lifetime means the life of the warranty. Look at the fine print, but there is still little chance of the loosing money on it.
If you like mud-flaps, the first deal is the better deal, assuming you can't get them to knock more off the price or get a better deal elsewhere. If you don't care about the flaps, I'd go and ask them to knock another $200 off the otd price and they can keep the locks if they want. If they meet you half way, I'd let them have a deal otherwise I'd go down the street.
As an aside, a friend of mine went in to buy a suv recently. Looking at the base model going in it was a reasonable buy. Then it turned into leather seats and by the time they were done he was at the top of the line model with a trunk full of accessories, and what was a decent discount on the bottom model was laughable at the top. Go into the dealer with what you want to buy and don't be upsold.

There is a $1500 manufacturer-to-dealer rebate on the 2010 Civics. I got a DX-G (with no extra accessories) for $19,000 including delivery. Just add taxes and licensing.
I always make my own oil decisions. Never know what you might get with a low-cost lifetime option. And does that deal include the new filter each time?
Our old Civic with over 230,000kms starts easily on bitter-cold Ottawa mornings because it's got 0w30 Synthetic oil in the pan. Do you really need that block heater in the modern oil age? I'd rather invest in an Optima red top battery after a year or two.
Here in Ontario, the +100 air tax is cancelled out by the -100 fuel efficiency tax. Don't know if you have that in Alberta, but check and it might save you another 100.

We are doing a finance deal so we cannot use the cash back of $1500. Our deals are actually pretty similar, my price is $20616 before tax so if I were to pay cash, it would be $19116 before taxes. A little more than yours but it includes the block heater, rear mud flaps, and life time oil changes.
I believe block heaters are mandatory in Alberta but i'm not certain. I have not own a vehicle without a block heater but it's nice to have when it gets to -40.

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy a 2010 Honda Civic DXG auto before the sales end on March 31st. I'm looking around for as much help as possible as it will be my first car and would appreciate any help with negotiating a good deal.
I read from a earlier post that if you pay cash, you can get it for $19,000 + tax. I'm not too sure about the other fees that get added before the tax. I'm mostly considering financing but I understood that the cash incentive is not bad if you can get a line of credit.
I live in toronto and I'm not too sure which fees will be added on top of the base price.
If any of you bought this car for a good price, I would appreciate if you could post your deal.

I think that is the same $3000.
According to CCC the invoice price including shipping and air tax is
$42,883.00, from this you subtract $3000, then add 3% profit, $41,079 plus any dealer prep and tax. I think in Ontario you are looking at min. \$46,419 \OTD.
Anyone have a different experience?

Hi Everyone,
I've had a terrible weekend...Had an accident and my new honda civic sedan 2010 DX-G was severely damaged. From what I've heard but not yet confirmed by the Insurance, it will most probably be a total loss.
The car is a bit less than 1 month old with about 750 kms on it. I'm with TD and I didn't have the depreciation option included in my package. I took the default insurance which back then was the right choice :-(
Do you guys have some idea how much they will be willing to pay for it? The best scenario is they give me a new car but I very much doubt it.
Your input and help will be very much appreciated.
thank you

MSRP $25990 + $1550 (F & PDI) = $27540 - $3000 = $24540 plus whatever standard tire/air-con fees + 12% taxes.

First reply came the next day, & the only stipulation was that we picked an in-stock car & closed the deal within the month. With some accessories (all-weather mats, mud guards, cargo mat, wheel locks, touch-up paint) the total came to $30,140.

May I ask which dealer & salesperson did you deal with? (PM me if you wish-thanks in advance). I've bought used from Richmond Hill Honda and do not recommend them...nothing but headaches. It's hard to find straight up upfront salespeople.

Generally speaking car salesmen are sharks - The can smell a Newb from miles. My advice to you is either get someone knowledgeable to help you or lears to buy a car before you buy one. There are a lot of good websites that can teach you this as well as boards that you can visit and read experiences of people who were in similar situations as yourself. Some say that buing a car can be more stressful than buying a home
Good luck.

Is the $2000 cash incentive from MSRP or from invoice? and is it before or after tax?
The Odyssey SE or EX-L has a $6000 cash incentive, is this good? What is the approximate out-of-door price for it?
Thanks

What is the OMVIC fee?
The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) implemented a $5 transaction fee starting February 1, 2008. This fee applies to most consumer, fleet and “as is†transactions involving motorized road vehicles with the exception of wholesale transactions. The fee will be collected from registered dealers and is intended to help finance OMVIC’s operations under the new and long-pending Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (expected later this year). OMVIC has indicated that some of this money (which will total $5 million/year or more) will go towards better enforcement of OMVIC’s Marketing Standard. The OMVIC fee will normally be passed on to consumers. If so, Ontario price disclaimers should state that “OMVIC fee†or “applicable fees†are extra

Hi,
I am looking to buy (Cash) a 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L and I understand there is currently $6000 cash insentive on this model.
I would appreciate any insides on what kind of On the Road pricing I could get/expect for the base model (no extra options, looking for 8 seats model). I am in Toronto , Ontario.
is anyone willing to share CCC report for 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L? (it's much appreciated)
Is there anyone who purchased an Odyssey recently willing to share their final purchase price and dealer contact info if they got a good deal.
Thanks so much

The 2005+ Odyssey's have an issue with the torque converter (shudder). Google it or go to edmunds.com to read the forums. Read the Service Bulletins issued in the US. See how earlier transmission problems on 2001 /2001 Odysseys (and other HONDA models) had to be settled with a class action lawsuit. Looks like www.hondatransmissionsettlement.com, just got yanked out recently: case was Chris Collins et al vs. American Honda. There's a quick summary here on the transmission issues: http://maps.thefullwiki.org/Honda_Odyssey. See what the dealer says when you question them about the torque converter lockup issue on the recent Odysseys.
See if they can throw in an extended warranty if they are so confidant on the quality of their vehicles.

with the $6000 incentive, is the Canadian Odyssey EX-L comparable to U.S. one in price? How much cheaper if buying in the U.S.? Now the dollar is rallying towards par, so I am seriously considering the U.S. option, if the saving is significant.
Thanks.

Darn, just missed this by a couple months.
I picked up a '10 Civic DX-G Coupe $20,440 all in. The rebate at the time was $1500, now it's $2500. Looks like I could have saved an extra $1130, ah well.
If you're looking to buy, find out what the dealer pays (join CarCostCanada or similar) minus the discount and add 3%. For something like the Civic (maybe the Fit?) make sure you consider the $100 eco rebate thing which gets applied AFTER the tax. I just said $xxxxx all in and they assumed that I meant that included the rebate they give after tax. So when you put down your offer, make sure to state that this is before tax and that the $100 rebate would still need to be applied after the tax.
I love my new Civic, I'm getting 40MPG (roughly 850km/tank I believe) and the thing only has 6000km on it. Looking at ~12,000 km per an oil change. :)

When you see what they are paying in the US you will see that we are getting hosed here in Canada
See the following link as examples. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ee93eaa
Problem is that the warranty is void when you export to Canada. (And any after market warranty may have its challanges also). I like Honda and I'm looking at the Accord EX-L V6. If you look at the MSRP difference between Canada and the US and the discounts the US (plus the low rate financing) you realise that we pay a priemum for being Canadian.:D
I'm also looking at new and used vehicles that can be brought into Canada with the Warranty intact (Toyota/Lexus/Infinite/Subaru etc). At the end of the day I will make an informed decision on what is best for me.
I have no problems paying HST etc and getting the car serviced in Canada. But paying >$6k more for the same vehicle is hard to rationalise.
But remember this is the Vehicle manufacturers doing so don't put all the blame on the Canadian dealerships. But they need to put pressure on the manufacturers to try and obtain a better deal for Canadians. That is where every Canadian purchaser comes in.
But at the end of the day, if there are enough Canadians who pay the price then there is no incentive for the car manufacturers to change or give anything more than token gestures. What is it they say...'what the market will bare'.
Happy hunting.

I'd like to know this as well. With the 2011 in a week or so they've started their cash discounts on the 2010s.
It comes out to $30,397 if you're not adding anything. I'm thinking with some haggling it could be around $29,XXX or so?

Not a bad deal, but it's not half the price these days. Did 23900 include HST? If so you got a good deal - if it did not as long as your happy with it you got a great deal.

The base invoice price of the car not including taxes or dealer profit is $28.5k. Add freight and HST and it comes to $34.2k. Assuming a cash purchase to get the $3000 rebate and it's $31.2k - not including any dealer profit.

Oh man, I just brought a 08 CRV Jan 5th, do you think I can still get the rebate?
Good luck. I leased a 2009 CRV on May 29th, 2009 and a new incentive came out on June 1st, which would have saved me about $2000 over the course of the lease. I called the dealership, spoke with the dealer and manager, pleaded my case, they basically said "too bad". I even tried with Honda headoffice. Of course, the dealership claimed that they get no advance notice of any upcoming incentives, rebates, etc.

Anyone know what the prices are like for the 2010 CRV EX?
With the current discounts I got a soft quote for $33,400 (BC). I'm thinking of pushing that down to at least $33,000 and getting all the matts, visors, undercoating and wax. Would that be a decent deal?
Thanks.

The EX-L coupe 4 cyl was $4000 cheaper ( You lose the engine, fog lights, gd opener, rear spoiler, chrome handles, and 18 inch wheels are 17 instead with different rims ). None on the lot but some dealerships still have them.

If the van is 2010 model and new, that's a very good price, too good to be true in Ontario.
Is this cash price? Ontario Honda Odyssey SE and EXL models have a $6000 cash incentive now, how much is the incentive in BC? Is the sales tax lower in BC?

It's a lot easier than you think to bring tires cars ATVs trailers etc up from the US. I have walked over a dozen people through the process and they can't believe it. Takes about 3 days of effort to do yourself. On an after tax basis in many cases the savings works out to 2-3 months of working for the man.
In fact I'm off in a few hours to pick up a new set of tires for the Volvo we bought in the US. Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires the best there is for $105 USD each.
The best deal so far was a new Porsche Cayman S for $54K
Check out the prices paid forum on Edmunds... I'm looking at an EX-L V6 Accord for almost 10K less... that's a lot of warranty work.
Don't get scared by the dealer BS about differences in the car etc. The Subaru my friend picked up had differences all right... a battery with lower cold cranking amps... easily replaced for $50 at Costco.
Now that the bumpers etc have been harmonized with the US, it is easier than ever.
If you hold on to your cars for more than 5 years the resale differences are inconsequential.
Anyone every wonder why the people who own car/trailer/atv dealers in Canada are multimillionaires, and in the US they are making a decent living.
Do yourself a favour, get educated, check the prices people are paying on Edmunds and at least walk into the dealer in Canada with the balance of power in your favour.

Odyssey now have $6000 cash rebate on EX-L and SE. Taking the rebate into account, how much saving would one expect if he/she imports the same vehicle from the States?
I know there will be warranty for imported Hondas, but if the saving is huge, say $8-10K a vehicle, it's more than offset the potential warranty repair expenses.
BTW, do U.S. Honda dealers sell to Canadians new vehicles?

Getting dealers to sell new cars to Canadians in border states takes some work but can be done. The easiest route is to purchase a car with a few miles on it.
New EX-L's in the US are going for around $29K INCLUDING PDI... PDI (i.e. dealer profit) in the US is typically 1/2 to 1/3 of that in Canada.
Here is a quote from:
http://townhall.edmunds.com
It may not even be the best deal going.
I was offered 31,187 on a 2010 Honda Odyssey EXL. This includes all tax and ttl etc. Here is the break up :
sale price - 28972.79
doc fee - 154.38
CVR - 25
6.25% sales tax - 1915.76 (US does not apply)
Plate and Title - 120
===
Total cost 31,187.93
You would not pay the US sales tax, but would pay HST/PST/GST plus $200 for RIV etc and 6.1% duty IF NOT assembled in Mexico, US or Canada.
Not sure how that compares to Canada... I know Honda is starting to feel more competitive pressure from other manufactures who charge more reasonable exchange rates.

Your EX-L price is good, in Canadian perspective.
As for your question why Canadians do not import Hondas as many as they do Toyotas, that is because Honda's factory warranty is not recognized for import cars whereas Toyota does.

You obviously know nothing about what you speak of!
Honda dealers are NOT PERMITTED by franchaise agreement to carry US Vehicles. So whatever info you have is incorrect.

Didn't you advise us in an earlier POST that we shouldn't purchase a U.S vehicle due to lower resale value in Canada? Then why is Every HONDA dealer importing them by the boatload? It's simple, Canadians are getting ripped off ! Perhaps HSD can tell us how much profit these dealers are making on FREIGHT/PDI as well. Read the fine prints! The way it sounds, "extended warranty", implies extending the factory warranty but likely not. It is likely just a limited warranty (likely less than what the factory warranty covers), after the factory warranty expired.

NO with Honda it is bumper to bumper. They will even fix flat tires for you at no charge. It also includes free roadside. It is the best extended warranty in the business.

Its a cash grab from the dealer. You'll never use it. Its a Honda. I've owned two Accords and both ran great without any major repairs. When I was shopping for a car a couple years back Honda offered me the same deal. I bought a Ford instead. Ford offered me the same type of warranty for about 3 times as much. Ford charges that much because they know your going to be using it.

Hello, I'm planning to buy Honda Civics DX-G Sedan 2010 this year from Toronto's dealership....
I'm 26 years old and I have never had interested in cars so I have no clue what I have to do to get bargains or negotiate at the dealership.
I do not even know the terms at all....so could you help me guys?
The flyer says $20 110 MSRP, is there way to get good deal out of it?
I'm planning to leasing it but like I said, I do not even know what warrenty, leasing years, price, cashback, etc I just don't know anything.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

no factory warranty for imported Hondas, new or used. so if shopping south of the border does not save you a lot, it does not worth the risk and hassle.
2010 Odyssey SE/EX-L/Touring has $6000 before tax cash incentive, and is still on. The inventory is low though.
Can someone refer me to a broker that can assist me in finding a vehicle in the US? I'm looking at Honda Odysseys, either a brand new one, or used 2005yr +.
I live in the GTA, thanks!
edit: I just went on autotrader.com and searched for new and used odysseys and the prices were actually pretty close to Canadian ones.......a little cheaper but after the taxes it might end up the same. Am I searching the wrong place?

You obviously know nothing about what you speak of!
Honda dealers are NOT PERMITTED by franchaise agreement to carry US Vehicles. So whatever info you have is incorrect.
The dealers that you see with US vehicles are most likely independant used car dealers.
Please check your facts and try posting again...

Don't thinks on. On a Used lot thay can have whatever they want. They will not be Honda Cerified..

I did not notice any difference in terms of performance, but compare the price and features, 2011 is way better than 2010.
i.e. I want to buy the ex-l model (2010), the 2011 model that similar to ex-l model is ex-l res,it comes with DVD, cool box, LCD rear view system, usb2.0 port, etc but the MRSP is also cheaper. 2010 exl model, MRSP: 41,390, 2011 ex-l with Res, MRSP: 40,990.
so, i am going to wait until I found a better deal for 2011.

Rumour is that the 2011 will be available around Feb 2011. The 2010 Fit in BC is now $2500 off: http://www.bchonda.com/specialoffers/542-get_into_a_2010_fit_with_a_cash_rebate_of_$2500.ht ml

Hey RFD'ers, started looking for a 2011 Odyssey EXL RES.
MSRP pricing online is about $48k OTR, through cars4u.com it's about $47,200 OTR.
I realize it's a newer model and the 2010's have some decent discounts on them, but does anyone have either the Invoice price, idea on upcoming incentives or recommended OTR prices that would be considered a good deal.
Thanks in advance!

A year later and it is official, product update on the last model year of the gen 3 Odyssey for torque converter clutch lock up judder. You should be able to negotiate a better deal as the "software" fix doesn't appear to work. There has been 2 software updates in product bulletins and if they don't work, torque converter needs to be replaced. People have had torque converters replaced and need it again.
BTW, I've complained to HONDA for over a year...

I have a 3rd gen and aware of this problem. Started to really feel the judder over a year ago and searched to find that this was a known problem. Anyways, Honda did a software fix and 3 x transmission flush according to their service bulletin and I haven't had the problem since. I have been trying to recreate it but unable to . I was really pushing hard for them to replace the torque converter but Honda insisted to follow this process first. But some of have had their torque converters replaced so it really depends on how widespread the defect is.
There have been 2 recalls on the my 2007 Odyssey (judder above and brake fluid pressure) that I remember. Other than that, it's been running well.
I don't know how many vehicles out there without any issue/recalls. d

Looks like Honda will have to do a bit better... http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/February2011/01/c7029.html:
TORONTO, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Combined January sales of 4,041 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 37% decrease over last year's sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported January sales of 3,467 units, down 39% from last year. The Acura Division reported January sales of 574 units, a 20% decline over last year.
Meanwhile, Toyota sold 9051 vehicles (Toyota, Lexus and Scion), which is down only 1.6% from Jan 2010. And Hyundai sold 6684, up 10%. Chrysler even sold more Grand Caravans alone (4422) than all of Honda & Acura combined!
Hopefully Honda comes up with even bigger incentives for February and March.

May want to check with your insurance company first have heard that due to vehicle being light and if involved in accident it requires more insurance money to be fixed the insurance is higher then other cars.
On the second note has any one bought CRV if so how do they find in terms of fuel economy, cargo space, drive comfort on long drive both for passenger and driver, power is it enough i keep reading the v4 is not powerful enough on highway's any review would be great any thing else that you dont like or would change in the car.

The 4wd system is pretty much useless just for an FYI.

How is interior head room and leg room for long distance drive any small things that could be changed which does make huge difference in day to day operation of the vehicle. Like i have 05 matrix the compartment lights are on the rear view mirror so any time passenger turns the light on there is 50% chance my mirror setting will be gone then there is no door handle when you open the door from inside you have to hold the door with the small stick that helps you open the door but if its windy out you just hope your door stays in your hand. Any thing like that any body?

I have no complaints. Lots of head room in the front for me, I am 5'11". I went from a 2009 Civic Sedan to an 2007 CRV. It is a night and day difference in the size, roominess, comfort level, etc. You will really love it compared to a Matrix. Take one for a test drive and see.

Depends what you're looking at - the base models/sedans etc keep most of the same stuff like engine, options, etc.
If you're after an SI or hybrid, I'd wait. The SI gets a new, bigger engine & the hybrid gets lots of tweaks like a new battery & better mpg's.
Just google and you'll get a rundown of the options/changes.

Most likely Honda will try to get rid of the 2011's first so the better financing will go to them first before the 2012's...IMHO

Insights have $4,000 rebate on whatevers left. Dull drive, and apparently the Navigation units suck if you try searching for a local business by name. The units apparently will send you out of province! But with these incentives it isn't much more than the fit sport. So you're not paying a huge premium to save on gas, but you are giving up on the fun to drive aspects. If the Nav units had a better rep, I'd continue keeping it in mind, but now I'll probably look at a Mini, fit, or the Fiat.

Anyone know if Honda has remedied all the electrical / electronics / tranny issues that has been plaguing the Accords over the years?
We have had nothing but problems with our 2003 Accord EX........ replaced Tranny (152,000 KM cost $3500), replaced stereo console (Warranty), replaced interior light console (Warranty), Heated driver seat stopped working (Honda wants $800 to fix), horns stopped working (Honda wants $450 to fix), electric windows work when they want to, Interior lights work erratically, ABS & TCS work erratically... warning lights come on then go out every couple months in the winter ........ Here, we were telling our family & friends how nice of a car it was when we first bought it, new..... so a couple of them went and bought new Accords, only to also be plagued with the same issues we started having.... both families dumped them within a couple of years (which we should have done) ....... Check the net before you buy........ Doesn't matter what manufacturers are offering for incentives, it's not worth the headache if they don't admit there is a problem & stand behind their product..... let me tell you. :(
Check www.carcomplaints.com ...... Honda has 6 vehicles in the top 20 Worst Vehicle catagory....oh-boy

Well, they really have outdone themselves again....... After paying $300 for a diagnostics (told us the seat heater doesn't work and the horn doesn't honk), we discovered a few days later, that, the bolt that attaches the buckle portion of the passenger seat belt was now gone........?????? We contacted the service dept and they said to bring it in..., Great, they are gonna correct an error made by the mechanic (forgot to reinstall a bolt that was removed?).... Then when my wife arrived, she was told the mechanic didn't remove the bolt and they would have to charge us to have the bolt installed!!! Just keeps getting better & better with every interaction we have with Honda.......

Next time, do not buy any vehicle from its first production year. In your case, 2003 Accord was from the first production year of 7th generation Accord. Same goes for 2008 Accord, it's from the first production year of 8th generation, there were lots of problems reported by customers.

Just bought a new 2011 Civic SE on march 28th (a few days before the end of their quarter and before the 2012's were to be out on April 1st).
Came to 21520 on the road including taxes and everything (750 gas card, 500 dealer incentives, 1500 honda cash incentives, + negotiating)
Loving it so far, esp since we got it at the price we were looking for.

Went to the Honda Dealership today (I know, 1 month too late) and they were all out of 2011s...I test drove a 2012 4DR CIVIC LX SEDAN...
MSRP 18,690...came to 22,840 out the door
doesn't have the alloy rims, sun roof, spoiler...but has the rest
Not sure if there would be much wiggle room here...my next step is calling the other Hondas in the area and seeing if any 2011s are still floating around, I also noticed the salesman was pushing the 4 door 2012 over the 2 door 2012...any idea why?
...any suggestions?

True. I will keep looking...any advice when looking to negotiate for a 2012? Would I be better off asking for additional features as opposed to trying to get the price down. Does paying cash as opposed to financing offer any advantage in terms of negotiating?
Thanks,

With Honda, it all depends on the model. Some models offer a "cash incentive" that can range from 500$ to 2000$ off when paying cash.

Yeah, they do it to save on car weight and possibly costs. I'd bet the 'feel', or lack thereof, is similar to Toyota's, which is abysmal. I'd never consider a vehicle with electronic steering.

I have a CSX (gussied-up Civic) that has the electric power steering. It's "no big deal". 99% of drivers wouldn't notice the difference.
It's not considered "bad", it's supposed to be a good thing. When it comes to the car world, people ***** over new technology. It makes me laugh.

This is a complete joke. We just bought a Ford Fusion fully loaded (~ $8,000 off) for the price of a Civic.
I used to be a huge Honda fan, but they no longer have a performance or reliability edge compared to the competition, yet Honda still seems to think it can command massive price premiums for no reason. It's not 1995 anymore when Honda used to kick butt.
Check out the competition and save thousands.

Bump for some decent discounts from Honda valid during September...
From http://www.hondaontario.com/specialoffers/684-quality_comes_first_customer_cash_incentives_.html :
Up to $4,000 Customer Cash Incentives on select models.*
2011 CR-V: $2,500 on select models (LX 4WD, EX, EX-L and EX-L Navi).
2011 Ridgeline: $2,000 on all models.
2011 Pilot: $4,000 on all models.
2011 Odyssey: $2,000 on all models.
Also, the APA report for the 2012 Civic says:
"$1,000 after tax cash rebate advertised as $1,000 Gas Card. Ends September 30, 2011." for both Finance and Lease Incentives. No incentives listed for cash purchase.
Finance/Lease rates are pretty good, too -- between 0.9% and 2.99%.

Good find Rehan. Honda Canada finally dropped the finance/lease rate on the 2012 Civics!
EDIT: Just noticed on honda.ca's website that Honda's offering 1.99% for 48 month lease or 60 month financing for the Civic. Too bad (maybe a blessing in disguise actually) my 02 Civic is still running fine. I like the coupe styling very much though many don't like it.

It really depends on the model. If you are looking for the touring, the inventory is very limited. THe other Odyssey models have more availablity, but fewer units around this Sept versus last year.
BTW, the fuel economy on the new Odyssey's are much better then the previous model.

Ntan, I can tell you that Honda will have a big push on civic's for the rest of this year as they are planning to do a relaunch of the 2012 Civic (as they are just starting to build up some inventory). I think you will see a similar offer through to Dec. I would not count on the deals being as good in Jan (as it is a very slow sales period and Honda likes to spend their promotion dollars in the months that people are more actively buying cars). I would definitely buy before the end of the year (and before your trip).

Ill probably return it after the lease.
Took the 4 years warranty because it covers mechanical problems, gives me free oil changes and also road assistance.
Warranty also covers the tires, and car exterior. I guess I just wanted to make sure that I wont have to pay anything once I return it.
Worth it imo for the extra 1000 bucks.
Stiffer compared to the older Civics? I wouldnt know, this is the first Civic I ever drove. Enjoyed my test drive tho :)

That 4-year warranty was dealer specific? We bought an 8-year comprehensive factory extended warranty for a Honda in December 2010 and we didn't get any free oil change offers though road side assistance was included. :(
$1k is good. We paid $1.7k for the 8 year warranty but because the car is for keeps, we'd rather have some piece of mind too.
Stiffer compared to the sedan. Read that for the Accord, the coupe has slightly stiffer suspensions than the sedan counterpart.
I wish I can drive the new civic but then there's more than two of us in the household and I've got some budget constraints of late.

Interest rate of 0.01% (used to be 0.9% - 1% loyalty discount)
Was this loyalty discount always in effect? I bought (financed) an Accord last December and already drove a Civic. Should I contact Honda Canada for an adjustment?
Thanks

Recent 2012 Civic Quotes from 2 dealerships in GTA.

BTW, in your post it looks like the loyalty discount is associated with the second dealer, but it applies regardless of which dealership you buy from (as long as you're currently in a Honda lease).

Was this loyalty discount always in effect? I bought (financed) an Accord last December and already drove a Civic. I think they just have it periodically. And currently it only applies to those in leases. In Nov 2010, the Civic had a $1000 loyalty rebate (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/big-discount-honda-huge-691819/94/#post11857415)...not sure about the Accord. I'm sure it's too late to do anything about it at this point anyway.

Oh, the loyalty discount is only for those with current leases that are about to end and not for those with existing Honda vehicles? LOL.

Sorry bout that.. yes, the loyalty discount does only apply to the existing lease holders. Although, the employee did assure that it does not have to be a lease that is ending soon. My friend's lease is due on July 2013, he was offered the same deal.
The loyalty discount is available to all the dealerships.. I just didn't know about it during my visit there.
Hope that cleared it up a bit.

The loyalty discount is NOT always in effect, each month Honda Canada decides what incentives they want to offer. Some months there are loyalty discounts, some months there are not.

Anyone get a better deal than this on the 2012 Honda Accord SE sedan? This is the quote I received:
$24 770 + 1550 + 100 + 35 + HST = $29,894.
Price + Freight + A/C Tax + Enviro Fees + sales tax.
I think it's a pretty good deal given that the MSRP on this vehicle is $25 990. Thoughts?

I am planning to buy a 2012 Civic LX Sedan automatic with AC and power windows/doors.
I contacted several dealers and the best deal I have now is $22 350 all included +1000 Gas Gard. So the Final price is $21,350 All fees and taxes included.
Does anyone recently purchase same model car? How much did you pay? What do you guys think about my deal price? Can I get better deal than this?
thanks

I got mine for $21 000 but that took a lot of patience. I think you should be able to get it down to $21100. Unfortunatley there seems to be a delay getting my car. I wonder if I paid a bit mroe if I would have got it quicker.

That is the reality with 2012 Civic. Each dealer has a big backlog. They give cars first to people who pays more.

Hi,
Thanks for your information. Yesterday, I finally managed to get a deal and bought at $20 900 all taxes and fees included. Since color is doesn't matter to me, they promised to deliver within 2 weeks. If not, I can cancel the deal. I insisted that I need the car within 2weeks. so let's see what happen.

Hope you can get the car in two weeks. One of our group members bought at even lower than $20900 back in Sept.. He is still waiting and wish to get the car next week. As far as I know, most dealers have at least 50 Civic backlog and they give the priority to whoever pays more. Hopefully the situation will change next month when the supply meets the demand.

Your car is a "Hynday"? I guess you really are George Bush. :)
One thing about Hyundai's... they are really nice brand new, but they are known for being headaches when things start breaking down.
Their parts are more pricey than a Honda parts. And they have issues with the electrical equipment (ie: stereo system, heater/AC, power controls). I have a couple friends who are having problems with their stereos already... they drive a '10 Sante Fe, and 11' Elantra. The Elantra's stereo broke twice in its first year and the problems started just 4 months after they bought the car. The last time it was fixed was in late August and nobody can say that the problem is fixed permanently. And I test drove a demo Tucson when I was shopping for a new vehicle a couple months ago and the rear driver side power window didn't work. And this was their DEMO which only had 1400 km on it! The salesman said the fuse must be blown.... but all the other windows worked! I like tweaking with my cars, and enjoy fixing them on my own and I've never seen a car that had 1 fuse per power window. He was lying to my face.
Hyundai's certainly are nice cars (they have the lowest rate of recalls of any manufacturer) but you need to see the big picture especially if you plan on owning the vehicle. George Bush's claim of Hynday vehicles being "much nicer cars" and having "workmanship of higher quality" should be taken with a grain of salt. Yes the build quality feels solid, and they are starting to use higher quality materials but reoccurring issues with the electrical equipment is a scary thought. Electrical is the last thing you want to fail. It could take many hours, and even days to pinpoint the problem. And just because Hyundai has less recalls, doesn't really mean they are the best quality vehicles... it just means they don't recall their vehicles when an issue is discovered. I could make the argument for another manufacturer who has more recalls and say, "X is better because they have more recalls. That shows they care about getting it right even after you make the purchase."
BTW, Kia and Hyundai use the same suppliers. A lot of their vehicles have similar parts. I'm telling you this because I've talked to people who will vouch for Hyundai's being high quality but have written off Kia's. Little do they know that other than the name and looks, they are more-or-less the same cars. If you wouldn't consider Kia's, then you are fooling yourself about Hyundai's. Just my 2 cents.
And I'm sorry for ranting about Hyundai in a Honda thread... it just bugs me when someone says "get this make, they are better", like it's a fact. Buying a car comes down to preference. There's pros and cons to every vehicle. Shop around and DO YOUR RESEARCH! Each coin has two sides. Weigh your options and pick the vehicle that is right for you.

I don't know I am lucky or not. Dealer called me today and I am picking up my car on this Friday. I know its unbelievable. I talked to many dealers before I bought the car and some dealers told me that they will deliver the car in December. This dealer told me that cars are coming to them this week and I can get it. so seems like I am lucky.:)

I know this woman that drove her Kia without a oil change for 3 years (regular oil not synthetic) but NOTHING broke. The engine didn't even burn out, and she said she never had a problem with anything on the car and never took it to the mechanic for anything.
I still won't believe in Kia/Hyundai though, unless they sell a full electric car someday.
Its a SUV, but idk what it is.

let me just add something about Hyundai..... a friend of mine use to work at a Honda shop but move to Hyundai because he was offered more money...... after his first week he cautioned us buying Hyundai cars, he said he's seeing a lot of cars 1 to 2 years old coming in the garage.......he said prior to moving he thought that Hyundai is the real deal but according to him still can't compare to a Toyota or Honda.
i agree with you here jestik no car is perfect, doesn't mean your car won't break down if you drive a Toyota or Honda.

I do not mind if you choose not to mention my name to our dealers. There are people who got the quote from me and used this price to bargain with their own dealer. Whatever is fine with me as long as you think I did help in one way or the other. Check the history of the lawsuits for transmission problems. This is the second lawsuit. Although it covers up to 2009. I know it affects 2010. They haven't fixed the problem yet for 2010 despite the software updates that were supposed to. Not sure if transmission , torque converter has been changed for 2011.
