Not really a big surprise. People drive more in the nicer weather and take more roadtrips. I have no issues with gas staying around the $1.00/L mark.
But instead of speculating which drives up the cost as well, why don't we just wait and see how things play out?

$1.00? That's a Hot Deal. LOL
I've said it many times, what can you do. My highest per liter was $1.64 with Sunoco Ultra 94. My '08 Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5SE takes Premium.

+1, I don't know why people who use regular complain when us guys are paying like 15 cents more for premium/ultra 94.

If you dont like buying premium , burn regular . Almost all cars today will burn any octane gasoline with ALMOST the same results !!! Stop your whinebaggin and fill your tank for christs sake .

Ive always been told that if the engine's compression ratio is above a certain number that its highly recommended to use premium because you can damage the engine, make it ping and who knows what...

You're mistaken. My car would not run right at all on regular. Hell, it doesn't run 100% right even using 91, I need Ultra 94.

did anyone put a gun to your head and force you to buy a vehicle that requires premium gas?

Mine can take regular, but it actually uses more than it does with premium. So it comes to the same at the end.

threads like this is how we got into the $1.28-$1.50 of last year. gas prices are driven by media fear and assumptions. STOP IT Take a look at the prices today as of feb 6 2009 its at 85 cents/liter, while actual crude prices are down and going lower in price every week, with no explanation at all for the 3 or 5 cent increase, although media assumes its because its february and the coldest month of the year.

If you aren't an engine engineer or car expert, don't dish out your lousy advice.
There's a reason why these engines require high octane fuel. Would you also fill up your tank with diesel if it was cheaper?

Gas prices will stay between 70-90c per litre for the entire summer.

No kidding, I love people who buy gas guzzling cars, or vehicles requiring high octane gas, and then they complain they have to pay more. Well no **** Sherlock.
Go buy a civic if you care.

+ 1. You decided to buy a car that requires premium...live with it.
Same thing with people who buy SUVs (we have one)...why the hell do they complain...they should know that it will take more gas.:D

I don't think none of us are complaining. I wasn't. Whether it's $1.00, $1.50 or $2.00+ you can't do **** about it.

Not yet anyways. I hoping hybrids or full electric cars will become the norm and affordable, then I'll be laughing :)
For now I'll just enjoy my cheap 4 banger.

I'd much rather have a car that I enjoy owning and driving than buying some cheap Civic or Corolla just to save a few bucks on gas.

I use the 4 banger Focus 5 speed, which I happen to enjoy driving for commuting only. The V8 is saved for the summer months when racing season starts, and yes it takes premium

I have a G35 coupe and I can put regular in it if I want; however I have noticed a HUGE performance difference between regular and premium. As such I completely stopped putting in regular.
What I do is every time I buy gas at these lower rates I pretend the gas is actually higher around 1.30 per ltr. I just put the difference into a bank account which I have setup. Once the summer comes along I just start taking money out of that account to pay for the higher gas.

I use my 5 cent discount card throughout the winter months and use the 20 cent discount card for the summer. It works out to be about the same.

remember those guys that were saying gas prices were going up to 2$ and that we will never see the price of gas below a 1$ again.... WRONG....
The price of oil dropped from 147$ to 40$ /barrel. I still think our gas should be be in the low 70's maybe 60's. Like in the States the most expensive gas costs 63 cents/liter CAD.

I don't think you have to worry about high oil or gas prices for the next 4 years.
the republicans aren't in power.
as long as the democrats are in govt, you can relax.

According to the engineers, he's right.
"For 2.5L engine Use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number (Research octane number 91).
For 3.5L engine NISSAN recommends the use of premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number (Research octane number 96). If unleaded premium gasoline is not available, you may use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI number (Research octane number 91), but you may notice a decrease in performance.

Don't know the price of gas this upcoming summer will be.
But I do know what it'll be this weekend in the GTA:

No he's not right... you just found one example of Nissan VQ35 engine. Simply because 1 engine does not require premium (recommend), it doesn't mean all engines do not require premium. Go and read the BMW manuals, it strictly state that 91 or higher is REQUIRED.

Considering that the only car being talked about was the car I showed the proof for, what's your point?
One person complained that his Nissan couldn't take regular gas. Another poster said yes it could and I posted the information from the Nissan owners manual that said it could in fact use regular gas.
By the way:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Owner/dgh.aspx
I picked 3 manuals at random; the 125i/135i and the 328i/335i coupe can both take regular gas, the M3 can only take premium.
Some cars require premium but the vast majority run perfectly fine on regular. If you were driving an F1 you wouldn't be able to buy gas at any station (but we're trying to stay on topic here).

Meh. I think by summer time it won't matter for those who've lost their jobs and are collecting EI.
