My wife and i recently bought a new house and needed to buy all new appliances. Since it was around Christmas time there were a lot of good deals at leons. We ordered a Fridge, Stove, Washer and Dryer, and a plasma tv. They told us our order would be ready in 2 or 3 weeks (which was fine cause we didn't have the house yet). Now here's the crappy part, the only thing i was able to get on our closing date was the Fridge. The Stove, and TV were in on February 3rd(not even the items i purchased, was called an upgrade but pretty much the exact same thing).
Now here it is February 17th, almost 2 months after we made the purchase, and were still without a washer and dryer and we're nowhere near a laundry mat. It wouldn't be as bad if we didn't have a 3 year old that loved to make a mess.
I'm not sure what to do now.

Call them and get a refund on the undelivered items. Go and buy it at the Brick or somewhere else. You will probably be able to get them at the same price or cheaper. At the very least calling to cancel will put a fire in their panths to try and keep you as a customer.

I just finished trying to call the corporate office but being a franchise they just referred me to the owner. So i called him back asking for compensation on the traveling 45 minutes away just to do laundry. But, "that's not something they do." I also complained about the quality control issues they have with salesmen telling people things are in stock or available when there not. He then offered to cancel my order. The issue with that is that it was a boxing week deal and for $999 nobody can compete. The closest to that now it $1600. And being located in New Brunswick there are currently not many options for retailers. The only other two really are the Future Shop or Sears.

Was it the Samsung deal? I wanted that deal but missed out then saw online they said "now available for Jan. 30th delivery. I ordered them online and called just a few days before they were supposed to be delivered. The girl told me there was no way I would get them as they were out of stock. I was like what the hell may I please speak with a manager. The manager said she would investigate and suddenly they said they would deliver them. I hope you get them as their is nothing worse than being without a washer and dryer. I went three weeks. Good luck and keep calling them.

Did you ask if they've got a trade in set or anything else they can provide you in the meantime?
I'm not really sure what else you're expecting from them. They can't just make a set for you in the back room. If they don't have them, your options are wait till they get them, or cancel and order from somewhere else. Obviously there's some monetary benefit to you not cancelling the order and waiting, so in effect, you ARE being compensated for the delay. Just maybe not as much as you hope/expect.
I've found that in cases like this, it's best to have a clear idea of what you expect before you start rattling cages. Spell it out clearly, and perhaps mail it to the store manager and get some addresses of regional/district managers as well.
Is there a local TV station that has a "trouble-shooter" type person on the newscast? That can be an effective way to get your point across. Maybe complain to the local BBB

Yes it was the samsung deal. They keep pushing the weeks back. They told me tonight best case is next Wednesday. Really the only thing i'm hoping for out of this deal is the washer and dryer.
They do have me over a barrel here, it's such a good deal i can't really cancel my order. I guess my intentions is just to warn people about purchasing items from leons. Even when they say they have items stock, you really can't take their word for it anymore.

I ordered mine online on Jan 10th and had them delivered on Jan 31st. I know if I had not asked for the manager I would still not have them as they said they were not in stock. I wonder where they got mine from lol I think mine were shipped out from the Scarborough location. Does not make sense why you have not got yours.

You never said anything about them actually having the washer and dryer in stock, as far as I can tell. At least, not here. All you said was that your order would be ready in "2 or 3 weeks", and it's now been 2 months or so.
FWIW, I think it would be reasonable to expect some form of compensation from them. And perhaps some of the things I mentioned (letters to their head office and store manager, complaints to the BBB, etc) might help. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, and all that. Even though the local store may be independantly owned, it still shares the name (and bad advertising) of the chain. Go up the food chain there, if you don't get the answer that seems appropriate on the front desk.
If nothing else, it's not unreasonable (in my mind) for them to provide a similar disount (by amount or percentage) on another washer/dryer that they DO have in stock, if they fail to meet their latest proposed delivery date.
Just my $0.02...

Thanks for you input. And sorry i should have been more clear. They said they had the fridge, washer and dryer in stock. And would have the TV and stove in 2/3 weeks. So the complete order was supposed to be fulfilled within that time frame.
There supposed to call me tomorrow morning with an update. If its not good news, i'll start rattling some chains.

I just got off the phone with them and they told me the item is still on back order and best case I can have it delivered the first week of March.
With that i just finished contacting the bbb and emailing Leons corporate. My next move is the regional news papers i guess.

So you have gone/plan to go at least 3 months with no washer and dryer because you got a good deal in december? personally, having a messy 3 year old + 2 adults, and the prospect of driving 45 mins each way to a laundromat (at least once a week) would cause me to cancel the deal and go somewhere i can get my items right away.
you're doing the "right thing" by telling everyone of your bad experience, but apart from that, if they don't have your items and you really need them, go elsewhere...

I would love to cancel my order, but my problem is if i cancel it would be an extra $600 to get one that is comparable.

If you're in Toronto, goto Morely's appliance and ask for Mike Elson; he gave me a very good price on appliances. However, I did do my research before going there. Overall he seems like a very straightforward sales guy.
Otherwise Tasco is a good place to shop too.
Appliance speciality stores are often cheaper than The Brick/Leons/etc - especially if you negotiate.
