I live in Newfoundland, and am a full time student. In 2008 I completed 2 full-time workterms and a full term of school. I grossed around $22,000

Just wondering what I should/could claim and if anyone has any rough idea of what I could get back or pay in.

My tuition was around $4,000, I'm claiming $500 for books and $300 (that's the max isn't it?) for public transport. Not sure what else I could claim...

Any help?

Best thing to do is to get a copy of some tax software and calculate it for yourself.

Windows, FREE:

Online, FREE for students:

Without looking at the difference between Newfoundland and Ontario taxes.....I would guesstimate you will pay about $2000.00 in taxes, so whatever you already paid + or - a return of $ 1000.00.

Actually, anyone can calculate it for free using Ufile.ca. You would need to pay only if you wanted to save forms or Netfile them. As long as you only want to fill in all the lines/numbers, play with them and see your calculated return - you can do it all for free. This very useful website helps to double-check the results obtained in free StudioTax.
