View Full Version : JERSEY BOYS rush tickets for only 20$!

On weekdays, $20 rush seats are now available at the Toronto Centre for the Arts for the musical JERSEY BOYS. It's a biographical stage musical about the lives of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I have seen it a few times already and it is phenomenal! The seats are based on availability, but if you go on a slower night like a Tuesday or Wednesday, you might be able to score seats in the middle of the Orchestra level.
Everyone I've talked to who has seen the show loves it too and said it was worth paying the regular price (between about $60-$175) to see it, so $20 is a steal. Just show up at the box office early the same day as the performance. Come even earlier if you're driving because it's hard to find parking in the Yonge-Sheppard area.
(EDIT: I'm just going to paste my other post here so people can read it right off the bat.):
Show up at the box office 2 hours before the performance you plan to attend. I don't think you can get the $20 seats before then. It's only valid for the performances of: Tuesday@8pm, Wednesday@2pm and 8pm, and Thursday@8pm. The theatre is packed on the weekends so they don't offer the rush seats Fri, Sat, Sun.
There are a lot of good restaurants, fast food, sushi, and shopping on Yonge st. next to the theatre, so it makes for a nice evening out to buy the tickets at 6pm, grab something to eat, then show up at the theatre 7:45pm for the show.
The deal is open-ended and they haven't announced any kind of deadline yet. So far the show has only been extended through April but I wouldn't be surprised if the run keeps getting extended.

You mention we should show up early...
Does that mean like 10:00 in the morning? Or could I come 3 hours before the show at 5:00 in the afternoon?
Thanks.

My guess is that it'll be same day starting at either 9am or 10am (depending on when the box office open) - if what they're doing is similar to what most productions do with their rush tickets. Should call or check online to verify though.

Saw the show tonight in Rush seats. They don't offer the first 20 rows or so in the middle section of seats and the deal is $20 CASH ONLY including taxes (no service charge) with no exceptions. Having said that, we were in the 7th row off to the side and the seats were pretty good. It would have been better to be further back in the theatre but for this price I can't complain as we had a wonderful time. Tickets went on sale promptly at 6 pm. I was 5th in line at 5:35 and by 6 there were about 30 people in line behind me. I would recommend getting there early as the lineups will probably get longer as word gets around (RFD effect?).

i'm assuming this is first come first serve basis, so how many rush tickets do they offer? i work at the Elgin Theatre in the summer time, and depending on the musical, they only offer a limited amount.

Yes, first come first served. As I mentioned earlier, the first X (maybe 18-20) rows down the centre of the theatre are designated as "Premium" seating. The remainder (beyond the first 20 or so rows and down the sides) are available for rush seating until they run out.
Also, a correction on the OP's posting. I just called the theatre and they are available for Tuesday thru Thursday evening performances as well as Wednesday matinees qualify for the $20 rush seats. They go on sale 2 hours prior to the performance (either 6 pm or noon).

I did post that exact information in this thread already a couple posts ago. Should I have just edited my OP post for clarity? Sorry, I'm new to this.
Also, from what I've been told, at this point they are simply trying to fill the theatre. That means rush tickets could be sold for as far back as the Balcony as well. The theatre's seating capacity is 1700, and the average house on weekdays has been 700. So, unless over 1000 people show up for the rush seats, they won't be selling out.
I work there, and that's the information I've been given. That may or may not change though. And yes, the $20 seats have been going on about a week now.

Went to see the show last night. It was great for $20! (Toronto Star rated 4 stars). We got there at around 5:35 and we were the 4th person in line, the first lady got there at 4:55 and she got row C, centre. We got row L, off to the right side, not bad at all. In fact, you don't want to be upfront, it may be too loud.
We looked up and the lower balcony was quite empty, in fact, I don't think they open the upper balcony, both sides of the balcony was empty as well, if you have a group of 30 people, I am sure you can get the whole section of the balcony for yourselve. LOL.
If you go in a group, suggest you split it up in 2's and I am sure you can get orchestra seats because the computer will pick first available and depends on how many seats you are looking at a time, the less the better.

Sorry chickadee I didn't see your correction further down. Yes, since the first post is the most important one and the one that most will look at, you should probably go back and edit that with the correct info (I scrolled back after this post and saw that you did make the edit....thanks).
Thanks for posting this for us, it's a wonderful deal for a very good show. Wish I would have known you work at the theatre, I would have thanked you in person Wednesday night when I came to see the show. Actually I only work a couple of doors away in the NYCC complex.

We went last night. Arrived at 5:40pm. There were about 20 people ahead of us, and another 20-30 behind us by the time 6pm arrived. By 6:10pm, we had 2 dead centre second row dress circle (lower balcony) tickets for $20 CASH each. Had the option of getting tickets on the floor, but we always prefer dress circle. Almost felt guilty seeing such a great show in premium seats for next to nothing. Even the parking is cheap in this neighbourhood. This was also our first time at this theatre and we found the seats larger and more comfortable than many of the downtown theatres. If you have any interest in going to this show, you will never find a better deal than this. Thanks for posting this offer.

I'm glad that everyone is enjoying the show so much! :) And yes, those dress circle seats really are premium. I also kind of feel bad for the people who paid full price, but I guess it makes the deal more exciting that way.
And thanks for your post contributions and extra info in this thread, nutttbar.

there were still several empty rows in the back of the balcony, but there were way more people than i originally expected. there were lots of people lined up for the Rush Tickets by the time the box office opened.
and i dont think there is a dress code though most people didnt wear jeans. there were a couple of people who actually wore hoodies and jeans though.

I saw the show last night and it was well worth $20. I got to the line-up at 5:10pm and was 5th in line. By 5:30pm there were about 20-25 people in line. By 6:00 pm there was a long line-up(60-70 people). There was a limit of 10 tickets per person. I only needed 2. I was offered Orchestra seats in row R on the left side but asked for dress circle (first balcony) as I know from experience how loud musical shows can be. I was in the third row of the balcony, dead centre. Half of my row was actually people who were just behind me in the rush ticket line. They had bought 5-6 tickets each. Also, I had heard that it was better for this show to be in the first balcony. I agree with that as they have an elevated 2nd level on the stage and being in the balcony, you can see the whole stage. The dress circle seats were all full and the orchestra seats looked full too. There were empty seats on the sides of the first balcony and some people moved to them during the intermission.
There have been mixed reviews on the show from people I know who have seen it but if you really like music and especially music from the 60's I recommend the show.

I went in with low expectations even though I had read good reviews. I saw the show last night too and definitely enjoyed it. My friend picked up the tickets for us so I don't know how long the wait was, etc but she didn't get there until around 6pm and we still were sitting in decent enough seats (I guess 2nd row of 2nd balcony... view was decent enough for $20 though!)

lined up at 5pm - sales started 6pm sharp
i really dont think there is a need to line up
you will still end up with great tickets no matter what spot you are in line
We got 2nd Row Dress Circle (1st balcony)
BUT
would certainly choose the Floor Seats next time
just more energy on the floor, this theater is real big and the upper levels are much higher.
Seemed a bit distant and removed
Will probably go back again - with my parents, inlaws.

The understudy for Frankie Valli only goes on for matinees. So If you want to see Jeff Madden play Frankie come for an evening show. Very occasionally, the understudy goes on for Jeff if he's sick or something, which obviously can't be predicted. Both actors are very good though.

I went wed june 24 around 5:15 and tickets were still available. There was about 15 ppl ahead of me. Only 40 rush tickets were being sold that day and 80 partially obstructed view for the same price. Once the rush tickets are sold out you can either get partially obstructed seats (curtain seats on the sides) at $20 or get tickets regular seating at $35.

Um, from my experience, these shows generally start on time. If you're late you'll have to wait for a break for the ushers to let you in.

And FYI, the F-Bomb is dropped quite a few times during the show, so it may not exactly be family friendly...

Went with the wife on Tuesday of this week (July 21). Was in line by 5pm, there were already about 12 people in front of me. I think anyone who got there at 5:15pm or later didn't have a chance at getting any of the 50 rush tickets.
Seats were upper balcony, Row H, dead center. Far away, but still a great view of the stage.

I've been to the show and really enjoyed it and have just come home with a pair of perfect rush seats for my mom and her friend for this evening's 7:30 show. :)
I went to the theatre at 4:30pm, the girl at the box office said I'd be welcome to grab a chair from the outside hall so I did and sat first in line. By 5:20pm there were about 15 people in line behind me and the desk promptly opened at 5:30pm.
I ended up with two tickets in "Orchestra C" (third row) for $25 each. These are premium seats which would've cost $85 regularly.
Limit 4 tickets per person and a maximum of 50 rush tickets available per day.
Would recommend lining up before 4:45pm, bring a magazine! :)
