Need an opinion on Korean Air (Toronto-Seoul-Hong Kong)

I plan to fly over there in the summer and found that Korean Air is substantially cheaper than Air Canada or Cathay! Can anyone describe the service and comfort of this airline?

Also, how long is the stopover? What can you do at the airport? I'm going alone so I need something to keep me entertained for the few hours I'll be waiting there.

Throw your itinerary into a booking website and find out, or ask a travel agent. Nobody can answer such a vague question based on not knowing which flights or dates you're going to book, versus the alternatives.



What can you do at the airport?


There's lots of stuff to do at Incheon. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incheon_International_Airport#Main_passenger_termi nal) Take a look at the airport's website (http://www.airport.kr/eng/airport/). The bigger question is whether or not you want to spend an extra 5-6 hours in airports and on a plane. I don't sleep on planes, and refuse to take horse tranquilizers, so an extra 5 hours would really suck.

I'm sure you'll have no problem finding stuff to do. Certainly lots more to do there than at Toronto Pearson, for instance.

In the past 5 years, I have traveled with United, Air Canada, American Airlines, Japan Air, Cathay Pacific and Vietnam Air. All in general class.

I've never really had any problems with any on-flight service, it appears the common norm to expect relatively decent service regardless of the company. The only major difference would be the seating arrangement, movie selection and the variety of meals. Air Japan has the best quality of tastey food, hands down! I'm sure Korean food would be pleasant as well.

Do not drink on the flight, you'll regret the feeling of being drunk, not being able to move around or talk to strangers, and feeling of the after the buzz has died down, basically, you'll feel very uneasy.

Apart from the on flight movies, best way to pass the time would be to read something!

I've taken Korean Air when I was 4 years old in like 1989, from what I remember it was quite good, and they had really good pineapple juice. But of course I don't really remember much.

just came back from Philippines using Korean Air. Korean Air has better meals and service than Air Canada, but not Cathay... but i dont think it would be worth paying extra to fly with Cathay. Not sure when Korean air changed this, but each passengers have thier own tv and have plenty of movies to choose from.

I just flew with Korean Air a month ago from Vancouver to Incheon to Bangkok. The flight attendents were all very nice. Only a few could speak English the Flight was very boring there was just a few TVs on the roof and played boring crap. The food was decent and you get all the free beer you want.

When i was at the airport in Incheon i whent to the transit hotel in the airport. you can rent a room for a 6 hour block about $50 or allday for 100. i took the 24hour layover when i whent and book the hotel for the day. They have a Little mesum at the airport it was Ok. and have some computer labs around as well should be able to find something to do there

I've taken the flight several times...it's been almost 4 years ago. From what I remember, its crowded with koreans. You typically stop in Seoul around 3-4 hours.

The flight is generally pretty good, comfortable and some good movie selections. The reason why i chose korean air is because you get to make a short stop and also it's a lot of cheaper than AC and cathay pacific.

I took it about 10 years ago. The seat is good and have lots of room. Food and service are good as well. Also it travels at night so you have less jet lag. However I think you will stop in Korea and /or Vancouver as well which is not so good. You will have the worst jet lag if you are taking Air Canada since they travel in day time.

I am also going in April Toronto - Seoul - Hong Kong for the first time with Korean Air.

How is the service with Korean Air compared to Cathay Pacific?

I have traveled with Cathay pacific to Hong Kong before and it was great. Way better then Air Canada to Hong Kong.
