My PC blew up last week  and I thought getting a new one instead of repairing the old one (which is 4 years old).
After a bit of research, I found this (http://cgi.ebay.ca/AMD-DUAL-CORE-GAMING-PC-W-nVidia-9600-4GB-RAM_W0QQitemZ250349397459QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDeskto p_PCs?hash=item250349397459&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 09).
The small HDDs don't really matter since I still have my 500GB drive.

I don't have much to spend... Need to save money for college and will buy a laptop this summer.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

+1, cept without the hard drive since OP has one to use.
Could probably reuse the old case and optical drive as well, just find a 500w psu and it should be good. That'll save some money.

Oooh thanks! The memory kit is 139.99$ now though. I'll get the
Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 4GB DDR2 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN Memory Kit (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25228) for 59.86$ instead.
And yeah I could salvage the old DVD drive but I'll buy a new case and donate the old comp for family usage.
I'll throw in a video card (Radeon HD 4xxx?) since this PC will mainly be used for gaming and some photo editing. Maybe the
ASUS ATI Radeon HD4670 512M PCIE2.0 DDR3 2X DVI TV-OUT Retail (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=35514&vpn=EAH4670%2FDI%2F512M&manufacture=ASUS)?

If I were you OP I'd stay far far away from anything ECS branded. IMO they are garbage brand.

edit: not to mention the seller does not specify which brand the PSU is nor the case so they are probably both garbage quality

both my laptop and my friends laptop motherboards died within a year of use. Also one of his desktops died.

Perhaps we've(my friend and I) just had bad luck.

Also to the OP, I realized the machine you linked to doesn't come with an OS. That's something you should be condsidering as it will cost you extra to buy a legal copy of Windows if that's the way you plan on going.

Yeah that is a good comp. But the PSU is just meh (http://us.acer.com/acer/product.do?link=oln24g.redirect&changedAlts=&kcond5e.c2att92=450&CRC=3100959418) (220W). I think I'll get that. However it's in store purchase only (I live in Montreal) and it's out of stock. I could get someone to buy it for me but anyone knows if CC will restock that one?

I can tell ya the worst brand of motherboards that got made, the Tomato branded ones, those things made the ECS boards look like DFI boards :cheesygri
