The bigger joke will be when A&W contacts Ryan and makes him remove the link! =(

Either that, or maybe they'll be classy like Swiss Chalet and notice their business pick up because of RFD, in which case they'll advertise on RFD and give us more coupons!

I wouldn't worry too much about these getting too much usage and being discontinued, it's still $3.00 for one burger, I'm sure A&W is still making money on these, if BK can offer King deals then A&W can do this much.

Might get one of these in a few weeks, I'm off fast food and chocolate for lent.

$4.99 without the combo here in Ottawa.

This is one unhealthy coupon ;). I've used one for lunch about 8 times now, it's actually the perfect sized burger to fill me up at lunch where I don't need fries or a drink. I love A&W burgers!

As a former fast food junkie, I say thumbs down to any fast food. I don't care if they give it to me for free.

Yes, I still have a once-a-year McDonald's craving. And I did eat at Arby's last fall when I was traveling home at 1am... BUT...

Cook for yourself! It is cheaper and healthier.

yeah, the coupons work ... like others, i've used it multiple times ... even in cambridge ... the burger is $4.99 regularly so it's a pretty good deal .. and imo, it's the best $3 burger one can get! ... it is perfect for lunch

oh, and it normally takes a good 5-10 minutes to make, so it's usuallly pretty fresh!

Really, I dont think anyone on here knew that

Call the obvious police, you dont eat fastfood because its good for you, its because its convient.

We as a family dont eat fats food a lot, but sometimes you have to, or get a craving once ina while. We do fastfood maybe once every 4-6 weeks. After a night of drinking, sometime fast food is the only thing you crave

I think by rare, he meant he rarely eats burgers, lol.

The reason very few places serve them that way is because food is precooked at most fast food places =p

That, and eating bugers rare is nasty =( Burned black ftw!

Gasp - you mean the "rare" qualified the "run" not the "burger"?!

From what I've been told, the surface of beef becomes contaminated with bacteria over time. Usually, cooking kills the bacteria. However, with ground beef, that bacteria becomes mixed throughout the meat instead of staying on the surface so to ensure killing that bacteria, the meat must be cooked to a certain temperature which means that it becomes at least "medium well done". The exception is steak tartar which is not hamburger. The meat in steak tartar is skimmed before grinding and then cooked immediately. That minimizes/prevents the growth of bacteria so the meat does not need be cooked at all. Non-fast food restaurants (Do you remember Fudruckers?) prepare their own ground beef and so they can offer rare burgers. Yummy!:D

Coupon worked at the CanTire drivethrough in Kingston =d

I think for $3, it's worth it just for the vegetables; the papa/grandpa burgers don't come with lettuce and tomato and that detracts from the eating experience =\

But if we're just comparing patties, I prefer the thinner ones, because with the uncle, you can see how they really blended up the meat, not just ground up. I saw air bubbles =\ kinda like a Nestle Aero bar.

Thanks for the deal, OP. Still a satisfactory dinner :)

Hey all, have not posted in along time.

Was wondering what one coupon per customer per day actually means? Is there a way around this...technically?

I think that if I leave any store and walk back in I am a new customer, with a separate transaction. Therefore I should be able to apply a coupon again.

Anyone have ideas?

BooR4dL3y
Mar 7th, 2009, 10:49 AM
I'm pretty sure they only want you to use one coupon per day.

I'm sure if you go up to the counter and tried to use two at the same time they will deny you the second coupon.

If you use one, and want to use a second one, just line back up at counter with a different cashier. Or eat your first burger then come back and purchase the second one (if you're eating there).

Or another thing you could try is point over to some random person at a table or outside and say that they're with you and you're ordering for both. That may be enough to get you the second burger with the coupon.

Good idea! Maybe I could sit outside of the drive through and sell the coupons with a can of root beer for hmmmmm say 2 bucks. :-0

For each 12 pack at $3.50 I could make a profit of $20.00!! and the customer would get an Uncle burger and pop for $5 and change whereas normally it would be about $7 and change.

So, if I sold 12 an hour that's $20/hour OR I could hire a student at $10/hour, sit at home and........... Oh my I digress :cheesygri

It's actually around $7 for 5 strips (not the combo). Whole chickens are always a better deal (7 bucks at Wal Mart?), but I hate thighs, I'm too lazy to rip the meat out myself and I like the flavour of their strips. Popeyes sucks real deep now that they've changed everything, so when it comes to fast food + chicken, I dunno anymore.

Tried the uncle burger... didn't really taste much different to me, just thicker. Funny thing, I got two, and I gave her the coupons, and she charged me $2.77 with tax somehow. For a $3 coupon?!?

There's something about A&W root beer served from the restaurants that seems better than the cans. I think the cans have more carbonation in them.

BTW if you use this coupon to get the burger for $3, then buy a drink and fries, is it still cheaper than the Uncle burger combo?

B/W printout, no questions asked no fuss.

Eating it now....for what it is, it's pretty tasty and $3.15 is a great price for it.
I will say one thing though, it looks more "pre-formed" than the others in the "Burger family"...those almost have a hand shaped (hand shaped pre made then frozen? ;) ) feel. This one literally looks like a puck/patty that resembles frozen boxed burgers. But still eating it.

What's with having no ice at A&W? I mean, would it kill someone to provide the option?! They say that they serve their drinks at "the perfect chilled temperature" or some nonsense, but I disagree. The perfect temperature is the one half a degree warmer than the point of ice crystal formation.

So I go in tonight with my husband. He has a coupon and I have a coupon. I say to him, you go and get yours and I'll get mine. He orders. Our baby in the stroller starts to fuss, so I pick her up and drop my coupon in the stroller. My husband turns to me, takes the 2nd coupon, and tells the cashier, I would like another one for my wife. Girl at the counter says, only one per FAMILY. My husband says, no, the coupon says per customer. Girl says, my manager says one per family.

I give up, seeing as I really wanted a salad anyhow, so we just split the one burger. But just for that, I may now go back EVERY DAY and get a burger or start handing out those coupons in front of their store. ARGH.

While there is an abundance of the $3 coupons, shouldn't true RFD'rs be using them instead of the free coupon? The $3 coupons are only good until May 3rd but the free coupon doesn't expire until Dec 31, 2009.

Assuming that the $3 promo isn't extended, then to use the free coupon before May 3rd only saves $3 plus taxes. However, to use it after May 3rd saves the full retail price plus taxes!

A&W should merge with the Fuddrucker chain. (There's one in Saskatoon)
Then, they could have Terrence & Philip of South Park singing the theme song.

Used the coupon yesterday at Vaughan Mills. First of all, the burger is a meager imitation of the photos purporting to represent the product (in them, the patty represents a significant proportion of the total height, but in reality, it is much less - more bun, less burger!) But, to be fair, such misleading visual representations are hardly unique to A&W.

I would never pay $5.99 for this burger.

Hero Burgers has nothing to be afraid of from A&W.

Not necessary to print out in color, they will accept the B&W right?

I got rejected as well from Coquitlam A&W near lougheed and king edward. I put up a fight saying it was from their own website and she said because it looked photocopied they would not accept it. She also showed me her communication from head office, saying she was not not been informed of this deal, although her store had been given the heads up about the freebie promo.

I was thinking about calling A&W head office and inquiring about why this deal is not being communicated to franchises, with reference to that particular store #... then by the time i got back to my office, my steam had evaporated ~~

I'm thinking my chances would have been better if I printed out in colour and larger resolution.

I don't think pricematching with McDonalds is going to work if they are different products.

If you had a coupon and came to the McDonald's that I worked it, it would have. I was a manager at a franchised Toronto location and we were strictly instructed to accept all competitor's coupons. Honestly, it didn't really matter if it was buy one get one free, free product, special combo pricing, or even an expired coupon and I can tell you from experience while we were supposed to keep all accepted coupons for future reference, they usually ended up in the garbage. While very few people knew about this competitor's coupon policy, we were supposed to use our descretion to offer a product that was equivalent to the competition.

2 papa burgers = 2 bacon and 2 cheese. 1.40 sounds like a normal amount for bacon and cheese.
