Hey guys, just wondering what a good alternative to iTunes would be. I like certain things about it (how it organizes my music folder) but I've concluded it's a piece of **** software and that there must be better ones out there. I also hate how Apple keeps shoving a Bonjour (wtf is that even?) update down my throat. I have a dock connected to my computer, and I hate how everytime my laptop gets back from sleep my iPod would be syncing but iTunes would be clueless and I wouldn't be able to disconnect it from iTunes. Quicktime is also a POS and I want it off my computer. Apple is the new Microsoft.

So anyway, any other software I can use to sync to my video iPod? I would prefer if it organizes my music folder the way iTunes does and have a lot of sorting options like iTunes. I would also prefer if it doesn't take a full minute to start, and isn't a pile of ****. I read foobar is a good option? Which ones do you guys use?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have an ipod but I use foobar for music management.
It's highly customizable so it may be daunting at first sight.

The ultimate (low cost) media management software, in my opinion, is J River Media Center 13. It costs about $40 US, but you get the most versatile organisation and playback software, the development of which is often directed by the users.

Here's a link to one of their pages. (http://www.jrmediacenter.com/features.html)

There are a variety of skins and plug-ins available too. It also plays any directshow video formats, and can internally use the WMP and QT engines if necessary. It'll also pull songs off your iPods and you can even edit songs with the built-in media editor (including image editing).

Big companies like Amazon use J River software for their online music stores. I'm currently organising ~8 TB of movies, music and photos using it, as it's unparalelled for large libraries.
