Oka, I'm new to cellphones. I know they vary a lot if they are from different country's (CDMA and GSM?) and the bandwich (mhz) is different. That's all I know about cellphone.

I never wanted a cellphone before, because they cost too much.
I saw that Telus was offering some $10 monthly cards (pay as you go), witch seems like a good price ($120/yr). I was wondering if they were anything cheaper. Basically, I won't be talking much of it, it's more for emergencies or quick call (call parents to ask if I bring 1 or 2 milk gallon).

Here, from what I can see, a $10 card gives me 40 minutes a month. That's okay with me, though it would be better $5 for 20 minutes heh.

Also, can I just buy any cellphone from the classifieds that I like and get it activated? What do I need to look for when I buy a cellphone? I don't want any features from the network except calls/texts.

I live in New Brunswick btw.
Anyone can guide me a bit on that new purchase?

You could get one of those yearly rate where you pay something like 100 bucks for a year of usage that way you don't have to worry about recharging. Not sure about telus but I know Rogers offer something like that. But try smaller providers such as Solo, Virgin, and Koodo, they probably have better rates than the major ones.

If you are getting a CDMA phone, get it from the provider itself.
