ive done some research and found that some state sin the us charge tax on songs in itunes due to the state law. so a .99 song is actually $1.06. the actual fact is im not complaining about the tax im jus wondering.

i am using the 1st gen ipod and would like to upgrade it to the new firmware so i can buy apps. this update costs $9.99 and i would also liek to buy a game that costs 4.99. ideally, this should cost me less than $15 (plan on using the gift cards) but if i do get charged tax i wont be able to get both.

im sure people here purchase of itunes, so have u been charged a tax? im living in ontario if that matters.

Thanks

Nein! Dere ist no tax on iTunes in Ontario - we already pay it (a tiny percent, I think it's less than 1% if I'm not mistaken) through blank media, and digital media such as music through iTunes, etc.

AFAIK, iTunes charges tax in Ontario for app purchases when using a credit card. (Not sure exactly how much)

If your buying a gift card make sure it will work first because currently you cannot buy apps in the iTunes store using an iTunes gift card. You can only buy music with a gift card.

I think you will need to use a credit card to make these purchases.
