Best way to see the Hawaiian Islands

I am thinking about visiting Hawaii, and would like to see Honolulu, Maui and some other islands. What would be the best way to see this? I know you can take cruises, but you only see the island for 1 day and spend the rest of the time in the water (which seems a waste to me).

Perhaps, get a plane ticket to Honolulu and do a inter-island cruise.

I remember seeing some 3 day cruise in Hawaii, but I cannot find them at the moment.

We went for our honeymoon and spent 2 night in Oahu, 5 in Kauai, and 5 in Maui. It was perfect! I woudln't want to do the cruise (as much as I LOVE cruising!) because one day per island wouldn't be enough for me.
