If yes is there a difference between using the regular wooden one, and the cedar one? And is there really a benefit to using it?

At least for dress shoes, shoe trees absolutely help. (For athletic shoes and casual shoes I don’t use them.)

Wood shoes trees help absorb moisture after wearing shoes and help keep creasing to a minimum, looking new and lasting longer. Supposedly cedar has better moisture absorption than other woods and has a fresh smell but I really don’t think it matters what wood is used in the trees.

Plastic shoe trees and also stuffing newspaper inside of shoes are other options if you find wood shoe trees too expensive. Not as good but better than nothing.

I do.
Truth be told, I don't know if they really do all that people espouse, but I own some rather nice shoes so the minimal cost of trees is worth the peace of mind.

Yeah, I used plastic ones from Ikea - $1.99 for a pair.

I dont think plastic ones do a good job of absorbing moisture. Might as well have just used newspaper?

I do for dress leather shoes, it keeps the shapes of my shoes, for the absobrb of the moisture, i have no idea. but cedar wood has nice flavor, and at least it help to avoid the odor. plastic one may help keep the shape, but not removing the odor.

Women have a lot of expensive shoes, but they do not use shoe trees.
