No Fees dont worry..ive ordered there enough times.

Picked up Home alone..fight club at that price is awesome. Four Christmasses and Ice Age 3 have dropped big time too.

I see Home Alone on FS website for $22.99?

I went to BB(hwy7- bayview) around 11am to see if they had any movies left and found they had tons of Taken and Xmen Trilogy left. DIdnt see Fight club though... Dark Knight was also sold out at $9.99

[QUOTE=jaydm;10021601]No Fees dont worry..ive ordered there enough times.

When was the last time you ordered from amazon.COM ?
I used to be able to order from them without any fees until early 2009 or maybe even late 2008, but not anymore.
I recently tried to place a large order from them and the new surcharges that they now have introduced for Canadians made this is deal-killer for me, and so I ended up ordering from Amazon.CA.
Yes, the GST+PST that you're being charged with .CA are a pain, but their prices on CD's have now become very competitve with .COM. I can't speak about BluRay's, though.

type in home alone in the search..scroll down more. there are two home alone there, 1 for 22.99 and one for 9.99. The difference..

I have a question regarding the Dark Knight blu-ray that Best Buy was selling for $9.99 in their boxing day flyer. In the store, the rack label says "Dark Knight 3-disc..." but their online description says "2-disc set", and the one copy I managed to find after searching their racks is also the 2-disc special edition. So is there actually a 3-disc set that they were selling for the same price?

Thanks. i see it now.

Did anyone notice how they marked up prices for the blu-rays and have it marked down $2.00 and consider it as a Sales price so they dont quality for the 20% off? What a joke, pretty much 60% of the titles dont qualify for the discount.

I picked up the "heroes" bundle of 300, Watchmen, and V for Vendetta at HMV for $34.99 -20% off today. ~$28 + tax is a decent bundle for those three movies, imho. :D

Didn't know there was a difference. I picked up what I thought was the '2-disc' edition at Visions and it turns out I got a 3rd disc for a digitial download with a code which expired last year lol. I'll try it out later.

Anyone find any deals on Terminator Salvation BR? Heard its a great audio demo.

Ya I had the same confusion when I bought this from FS a month ago. Turns out the 3rd disc is inside the case even tho the cover only says 2 disc edition. The 3rd disc is the digital copy.

I just redeemed for my dark knight digital copy yesterday without a problem, and I've had the blu since day one.

Terminator Salvation is at RV for $20 used, and RV also has b2g1 on used blu's.

Just a heads up for anyone interested in the Batman Anthology set. It is indeed being sold at BBV for $49.99.

However none of the stores seem to be carrying any stock so you have to order from BBV's new online store!

The CH Canada club. It's currently $13.99 right now + $1.99 shipping.
Hassle free to go look for a copy in a store. It's been on and off at $13.99 for weeks now, which makes the Boxing Day deals of this movie pretty cold.

Picked up some great flicks at Wal Mart Edmonton West last night.

Marley & Me $10
My Best Friend's Girl $12.50
I Love You Man $12.50
Pineapple Express $12.50
There Will Be Blood $12.50
Benjamin Button $12.50
Madagascar Escape 2 Africa $12.50
X-Men Wolverine $14.97
Ice Age Dawn Of The Dinosaurs $14.97.

There were additional $10 and $12.50 titles, mostly ones I already had.

Also worth noting Blockbuster has Gran Torino and The Spirit for $5 previously viewed. Picked up Gran Torino on xmas day, but they had tons of copies, so I'm sure they are still around. Didn't bother with The Spirit, it sucks from what I hear.

This is the same as last year. Lots of great movies for cheap prices, and discounts we won't see until boxing week 2010.

If you love movies, stock up, because you'll kick yourself for not buying when the price is so cheap.

Once again amazon.com has shown i live in a third world country with the price differential. Not too gung-ho with pushing daisies S2 considering how rushed it was when it got the axe. I will also wait for TSCC S2 to go down in price here... factoring in shipping and import fees that amazon.com charges, i won't save much vs buying here. I'm showing the TSCC S2 comes to $41.57 USD with tax and Shipping.

The Cheapest I've seen TSCC S2 on our side of the boarder was for $55.99 + tax. Isn't this still a good deal?

It is if you compare it to full retail value which is the $55.99 + tax... my point is they seem to like hiking up the blu-ray price for every series that gets axed to recouperate their "loss" on broadcasting the show. I just know this will come down in price in due time and i am in no rush to watch this.... but if you really are a fan of the show and terminator as well, then that price isnt bad i guess..

Same thing happened with G-Force a few days ago. You take a brand new title for $14.99 and mix it with the "meh" $9.99 items on a Daily Killer, and it's gone before you know it. :)

Got Forrest Gump the other day for $9.99, more because of the rave reviews and cheap price than any great fondness for the movie itself (not that I was on the "Pulp Fiction was robbed that year!" bandwagon either -- I thought both films were overrated :D). Do they still call you when it's ready to pick up or do you just show up within a few days?

SIG is having a New Years Sales (http://www.sigelectronics.com/Weekly-Flyer) (I assume it starts at noon on Jan. 1) and the online only portion lists the following at 14.99:

Terminator Salvation
Paranormal Activity
Harry Potter and the half blood prince

Since this is online only, you need to pay 9.99 shipping, but its still an OK deal if you buy all 3 or if you have any other items in the sale you desire.

This has nothing to do with SIG. It's Canada Post and the lazy ass postal workers. I've had many of my parcels not delivered to my house and only have the delivery slip stuffed in my supermailbox. They pretend they attempted delivery but in reality they never bother. I know this for a fact because I tell my wife who was at home all day to expect delivery of a package and the doorbell never rang. Yet online, it shows a delivery was attempted. BS!

Either the postal carrier didn't ring the bell or they knocked and no one heard it, regardless I hardly think that this is SIGs fault

Oh, well - one less person to compete for for good deals :|

Canada Post delivery drivers are lazy.

I was on holidays for a week and I was expecting a bunch of parcels. I was in the kitchen and heard the a noise from the mail box. When I got to the door , the driver had already jumped in his van and drove off.

I sent Canada Post a complaint via their online customer service process. The very next day, the same driver rang the door bell and was surprised that someone was home. I mentioned that I was home when he dropped off the card in the mailbox. He did not say anything.

I would fill a complaint with Canada Post. The employees actually get reamed out by their supervisors, when a complaint is received because they are not doing their job.

Attempted delivery means that they have to make an attempt at delivery and not go through the motions of being at the house.

This time of year it could be a contractor who doesn't care to knock and wait.

Be careful what you wish for though. Canada Post is faster and 10x more accountable, reasonable, and customer friendly than the economy alternative, UPS. The UPS pickup depot is often far, far away whereas the Canada Post depots are usually within walking distance. UPS is open 2 hrs/day if you're lucky, whereas Canada Post will be open 12 or more. Your package is there waiting for you now, whereas with UPS' silly business practices the soonest you could collect your item would be Wednesday evening.

This is silly to pay for delivery and then go to pickup. SIG Richmond hill is not much further from me then Post office. This practice is very bad. SIG's fault is not allow me to pickup my order. I don't know what wrong with that.

Trust me dude you would want Canada post delivering your items rather any other carrier. This is not Sigs Fault. They paid for the service just like you paid for your bds. This is Canada post being lazy a55es..

+1

I have had issues with all carriers, because there are lazy a55es in all of them, but at least with CP, they take care of the package and the delivery notice.

I have had many issues with other carriers (Oops, Now-or-lator and FedMess) simply hanging the delivery attempt notice from the door handle (on a windy day none the less) rather than taking the time to remove the sticker on the back- Found many a delivery slip on the lawn and never found some of them (thank god for email notices).

In one instance UPS left a $300 parcel on my front step, when a signature was required and I was out of town. Lucky for me my neighbors aren't crooks.

As far a you paying SIG for the service, IMHO they have picked the bast carrier for your and their dollar, but sh1t happens, so try not to get so bent about it.

BTW not cool Redman >:(, the dude is PO'd enough - lets try to keep this thread nice.

Price match those with HMV and with that $5 savings brings the price of the bluray even more! Good luck!

I called to put Forrest Gump on hold yesterday, and as I was talking to the guy on the phone, he asked me if I had been at the store two weeks ago with my wife asking for a copy. You can do both, either bring a flyer OR a printed screen shot of the product and price. or you can just ask the CSR to go online to check. I would recommend bringing in the screenshot because most crs will not care to double check and price match right there for ya..

Just bought this from Amazon.co.uk

The Fast And The Furious Limited Edition Complete Box Set (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002CN2NBW/ref=ox_ya_os_product)
£33.17 (Under $60CDN) + shipping

I thought it was a pretty good price for this quadrilogy which comes in a tin box with a few extras.

*EDIT*
I also purchased the following from Amazon.de because it seemed like a good price for something rare. BTW... Wow is Amazon.de ever efficient. I ordered less than 10 hours ago, and my package has already been shipped. Expected delivery date is Feb 2nd.

Fantastic Four I + II (Limited Edition Steelbook) (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002SG7M3C/ref=ox_ya_os_product) - Both discs come in one Steelbook
EUR 25,20 (Under $40CDN)

Tomb Raider 1 + 2 (Collector's Edition) (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002X66A4Y/ref=ox_ya_os_product) - Both discs come in one case
EUR 15,08 (Under $25CDN

Shipping
EUR 14,00 (Just over $20CDN)

Unfortunately, the kicker is shipping. It's expensive because the items are coming from Germany, but since it seems like it's a flat rate it might be worth while ordering a few things in one shot. Based on reports I've read from various forums, both sets should work on North American blu-ray players but do your own research. Don't go on my word.

No experience here with the UK side of amazon but i have ordered from amazon.fr and amazon.de respectively recently and i would have to say the chances of getting dinged on customs is 50/50; however considering the size of BSG: Complete series and how they have to package this thing, i would be surprised if they did not hit you with custom fees at all. If you do get hit with customs... you are looking at roughly 25% more value than what you paid for so in this case you are probably still getting a deal. The only thing im not sure of is whether this is region free or not (Universal is normally region free) and also whether your package is going to come in dented etc.

Welcome to purchasing SBs worldwide now lol. Resident Evil Trilogy on SB is also region free and so is Hangover. The shipping is a killer and you best pray you do not get dinged on custom fees as i did when i ordered mine; however like you said, for multiple orders, shipping averages out really and becomes insignificant after a certain point.

Speaking of blu-rays, this is not a deal deal per say, but amazon.ca has the criterion version of "Che" for 35.99. Considering the movie itself is 4 1/2 hours long and HMV here is selling this for retail 51.99, this is a deal to me. Amazon.com is also selling this for 33.99 USD, go figure, finally one movie where we are not paying a ridiculous markup. No super free shipping though with this amount.. i had to lump something on top to get free shipping.

Ya... I recently started buying International SBs, cuz I never really cared for them. The only reason I do now is because you get more than one movie in the SB. i.e. Batman Begins/The Dark Knight, Fantastic Four I+II, Fast and Furious 1-4, Underworld Trilogy, etc. It cuts down on shelf space and you get a pretty sweet looking SB. The pricing is somewhat reasonable too. I hate how North Americans get the shaft when it comes to SBs. In the last 2 days I've purchase the following SB combos.

- Batman Begin/The Dark Knight
- Fast and Furious(1-4)
- Fantastic Four I+II`

I also purchase purchased the Tomb Raider 1+2 combo, but that just comes in a regular case. I really wanted Tomb Raider 2, but it's only been released on BR in Germany.

How much extra did you end up paying in brokerage/duty fees? Amazon.de is shipping my order via DHL.

BTW, $35.99 for the Criterion version of Che is a pretty sweet deal especially if you're getting both parts. I'd rather just pay $39.99 to avoid the shipping fees with Amazon.ca, but unfortunately that's not an option unless you buy more things.

I know that HD content is not subject to the NTSC/PAL encoding. So if you buy a region free bluray the movie will play fine on any player inclusing ps3.

What about the extras though? I think most movies have a mix of HD AND SD content - wouldnt the SD content be region locked?

Does anyone know?

I guess it depends on if you receive a DVD and Blu-ray. If the SD video is on the Blu-ray I think it should still work... at least that's been my experience. Highlander's extra features are in SD, but it'll still work in my PS3 and stand alone Blu-ray player.

Well the only thing with some of them like F & F 1-4 is the SB is a jumbo boxset and if you saw the Monsters Inc and the Up one we had here, you would probably find that it doesnt end up saving much shelf space sadly.

If you get hit with brokerage fees its about 25% of the total purchase. Its broken down to 3 different categories when they tax u but i averaged it out to be around that percentage

The length of the case isn't an issue for me, just the width. The UK version of the F&F actually comes in a DVD steelbook according to some reports, and not the jumbo case the German import comes in. As it stands right now, I have individual cases for all of the movies I mentioned in my post above, and they take up a lot of space. Getting rid of all four F&F cases for one DVD steelbook is worth it to me, especially since the UK steelbook seems pretty decent.

The BB/TDK steelbook just seemed really cool to me. It seems to be very limited, so I'm happy I was able to scoop up a brand new one while I could. Time to turf the plastic case versions I have.

LOTR is just the theatrical release from what I understand. I'd wait for that one to be released in the extended format. The only ones I want in SB are Indiana Jones and Back to the Future, and only if they come in smaller/thinner cases like some imports, otherwise I'll live with plastic. I've been waiting forever for Saving Private Ryan to be released on BR. Hopefully it'll come with DTS audio.

From what I got from the post, those are the rumored releases and a potential candidate for a SB and not any indication they will do them when they are released.

Also those movies have been rumored for years, ever since BR came out. The only ones that seem to be on the verge of being real are: Alien, Back to the future, Saving Private Ryan and LOTR. The rest are still question marks.

The only one that has a rumored steelbook is LOTR and it is only theatrical right now and some pictures are making it look like a lunch box. It looks that massive. I mean think about 4 disc SB and now imagine making a 9 disc SB.

So far the upcoming aren't too exciting as those movies are nothing special. I am more interested in if they are planning to do any more pixar SB or Disney ones. The new rep for FS mentioned there won't be a Toy Story SB but that doesn't rule out a release when Toy Story 3 hits.

I bought an HD DVD from the UK a while back. It came in a case that was the same height and width as ours, but thicker, like a DVD case. I'm really not sure why. It looks a bit odd next to all my others. :|

I have the Dirty Harry Collection, The Bourne Trilogy, and a few Digibooks which are all larger in length than regular blu-ray cases. The Dirty Harry Collection sticks out the most, but I have shelf for odd sized blu-rays so it's all good.

I dont believe they take Paypal but I have ordered a ton of Blu Ray from them. I have always received my movies in about 2 weeks and they've been in perfect condition everytime (Sleeves included). The basics are you need to order 2 movies (BD or DVD) from them each year to fulfil your membership. (This can be done in one order). Right now they have a couple of promos (mentioned on the other threads). Ok no more use of brackets! (Just kidding) :D

Picked up Mission Impossible 2 and MI-III blus at FS, which were also $9.99 each, and PM Best Buy's $16.99 price for Inside Man (it was listed for $26.99 at FS, so I got it for $15.99). All three blus combined came to $40, taxes in. Not bad.

Also, I printed the $10 off Disney coupon for 'Surrogates' blu ray which comes out today, so that will be the next purchase. Coupon is valid in Canada but you need to install 'Coupon Printer' on your PC first. I printed out the coupon without any problems but now I'll see if I have any problems actually getting a store to take it - maybe Wal Mart or Zellers? Has any one used the coupon yet with any luck?

Thanks for the tip - I went to the electronics counter at WM with the coupon. The guy (who kinda looked like Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys) looked at the coupon for a second, squinted and scratched his head, but then rang the coupon through without asking questions. So the Surrogates blu came to $23 incl. taxes. I could have saved a loonie if I went to FS since the regular price was a dollar less, but I've never used coupons at FS and sometimes have to haggle over PMs, so didn't want the hassle. This was a blind buy - I've heard mixed reviews for this movie, most lukewarm to bad. But can a sci-fi/action flick with Bruce Willis really be all that bad? Anyone know if that is truly the case? I heard it was just being repackaged.

Along with Gladiator, GoNY is the movie I most want to see with a new transfer (remastered doesn't mean much).

EDIT: Never mind. Click below for comparison pics:

Also, with Inglourious Basterds being such a good deal at chcanada, I can't help but wonder how long new titles last before going back up to full price. I'd like to pick it up along with some other ones, but there isn't much there I care for.

Hadn't heard of that one... I'm not a SB collector, but might pick that up if avail on launch day. Might be cool if they had special SB packaging - maybe make each slightly different. For example:

Fellowship looks like BR wrapped in Mallorn Leaf, with the One ring Resting on it (Imagine the BR taking the place of the Lembas Bread below):

http://entropyhouse.com/penwiper/images/costumes/lembas/leaf-lembas.JPG

Two towers has one tower on each side.

Return of the king has the Eye of Sauron on one one side and White Tree of Gondor on the other.

But they will prob. stick with similar packaging as the original DVD releases.

Too bad the RFD mods can't open up that first post so people can modify it. It's too much work for one person to follow on a regular basis.

BTW jaydm, I received the blu-ray I purchased from Waiterguy on blu-ray.com. It took just over 2 months for me to receive it after he shipped it, so I guess there was a delay at the border. Hopefully you receive what you traded him for.

My username on blu-ray.com and HDD is WeirdG. Actually I use WeirdG on every other site except for this one. I think I got banned with it a long time ago for voicing my opinion, so I ended up rejoining with this one... haha. It's too bad Waiterguy was banned from blu-ray.com because of the slow shipping... oh well.

Thats not the only thing he got banned for. Actually before this transaction, he supposedly 'forgot' to ship my sbs we traded before. So ive been playing the waiting game with him for quite some time. He gave me excuses like, i forgot your address..the box was sent back to me. I believed him at first until like 10 ppl started to say the same story lol.

For all of you who missed the Stargate Blu Ray sale at FS from the customer appreciation sale the other day, now is your time to get it while the price lasts at $9.99.

Obviously $9.99 + 10% off was better, but $9.99 is the cheapest this will probably ever go.

It's not listed online at that price anymore, so just bring a flyer into a store as it's advertised at $9.99 and you should be good to go.

why is it I can buy movies from the other side of the WORLD, cheaper than I can here in Canada?

i just received my shipment from amazon.co.uk for Moon and JCVD, both UK editions, for 20 GBP total, all in.

that works out to about $35Cdn, +/- visa exchange rate fee, so essentially less than $20 a movie, taxes in.

ridiculous, considering Moon here sells for like $30 before taxes.

took only a week for my movies to arrive too!

Zellers flyer shows 'Assorted' Bluays for 15.99 each with reg prices 29.99 to 32.97. Ad shows Pirates of the Carribean 2 and 3 and National TReasure 2.

CDN deal thread on BR.com is also mentioning that FS also has all three POC for 15.99 this weekend amongst others.

I happen to be holding 3 $8 Disney Blu upgrade coupons for the POC series, so now seems like the best time to use them! :D

I was so surprised last night when I opened the package. From now on at FS I will open the package in front of them to verify its actually the product I want.

Not sure if these have been mentioned yet, but there are a great deal of double feature blu ray sets that I've seen in stores. These are the ones I noticed.

Analyze This/Analyze That
Miss Congeniality/Miss Congeniality 2
Grumpy Old Men/Grumpier Old Men
Dirty Harry/Magnum Force
Presumed Innocent/Frantic
Funny Farm/Spies Like Us

At Best Buy they ranged from 22.99 - 24.99

When I went to Futureshop they were all listed at $19.99.

The cases felt like all single disc editions, no mention of special features. However Dirty Harry/Magnum Force seemed to be 2 discs.

Can always price match at Best Buy for a bit off plus reward points.

No, this will be a repacked (digipak) version of the complete series. It will include the Plan and Razor. Not entirely sure of the pilot of Caprica though. The webisodes is what we all wanted, for now they're only available online.... hopefully they add it on to this series (doubt they will though :()

I bought the last Austin Powers pack in Ottawa last week - excellent deal. Also it's one of the participating title for their offer "trade 1 DVD get 5$ off". Bring one of your old crappy DVD title and it'll be 20$!

Toy Story 1 and 2 on blu-ray for about $30 is on dvd.co.uk. Here is the page: http://www.dvd.co.uk/landingpage_85.htm

They have a buy one disney blu-ray get one free. So one is £17.95 plus shipping for both is £2. Comes to £19.95 and when converted to Canadian dollars is about $30.
Make sure to put as GIFT, so that you avoid any custom charges.

RCSS has a $9.99-14.99 blu-ray bin. The pre-Craig James Bond movies are all going for $12.99 each. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was $9.99. Other movies I noticed in the bin were The Illusionist, the Die Hard movies, Cutthroat Island, etc... There were several others to choose from.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off was marked at $14.99, but FS is currently selling it for $12.99. You can also get BB to PM since they're selling it for $25.99.

FS also has a promo going on if you buy both Tombstone and Armageddon on blu-ray. You save $10 and get each movie for $19.99 plus tax.

*EDIT*
I received Tombstone and Armageddon in the mail the other day, and noticed FS deducted $10 from Tombstone making it $14.99 and Armageddon was still priced at $24.99. Since I didn't really care for Armageddon I returned it and got my $24.99 back, and ended up paying only $14.99 for Tombstone. :D

FutureShop has some blu-ray TV series on sale in the latest flier. Ones I noticed were Fringe Season 1 and Supernatural Season 4 both for $29.99. I plan on PM'ing Fringe at BB which is at regular price for $67.99, should bring it down to $26.19 which is pretty sweet.

RCSS out West has Transformers 1/2, Star Trek, Ironman 1 and GI Joe for $19.99 each. Grandview RCSS as of 11:30AM had the blu rays on the farthest booth, right across from the TVs, floor level shelf--Talk about difficult to find!!

BB has TF1/Ironman/GIJoe for $33 each, TF2 for $35 so possible PM available.

I managed to get Cambie BB to PM Ironman and GIJoe, no fighting needed. But sadly, Ironman on sale for $24.99 this week so less PM savings. Perhaps FS then?

Movie quality aside, I noticed Oakridge Zellers had a sign indicating the Surrogates BD for $15 and The Invisibles for $9.99. While I could see copies of Surrogate, I couldn't see any copies of Invisible <--(what an irony there!) :D
