A lot of people purchase tires without realizing that there are rebates to take advantage of. So I thought I'd make a thread to consolidate all the current tire rebates. Let me know if I missed any!
Please make sure you read the promotional terms and conditions etc. as there may be restrictions.

Just a quick one to let you guys know that the rebate offers on General Tires will be denied if you buy them "on sale", e.g. Buy 1 get 2nd 1/2 price at Cdn Tire or in general if the price shows up as discounted from the regular price on your receipt (learned this the hard way during the winter tire promotion) - sad thing was I could have bought them 2wks later at regular price from Quebec and then I would have gotten an extra rebate!!!! So if a store has really inflated "regular" prices and then has a "sale" at more reasonable prices, make sure your receipt doesn't say that.

reality check on the Toyo's : 17" tires = $70 rebate, you gotz 2 be rollin on 28z to getz da $180 ;) ......sigh. $17 off @ tire is barely a savings. Sadly, this is why I buy tires from the US.

Btw, I was at Costco earlier and the sign on the wall noted that there was $60 rebate on 4 Michelin as well as $40 off of BF Goodrich tires (which makes sense since they're owned by Michelin). I didn't see a form anywhere but this was a "Costco Times Roman font sign". :)

Thanks for this great thread!
I was ready to go out and buy a set of Falken 912's but then noticed that there was a rebate for the Generals (which was the other tire I was contemplating - UHP).
Now I'll have to rethink this!

Seems to be a deal at Fountain Tire out West (or Thunder Bay in Ontario) who are a Goodyear retailer. They're offering 4 Assurance TripleTreds for the price of 3 and then you should be able to use the $50 Goodyear mail-in rebate on the purchase.

It would seem that Goodyear has a new instant rebate promotion called Roll into Summer. I think that the rebate amounts are the same as the Blimp Days Event.
http://www.goodyear.ca/support/index.html
Here is the fine print:
* The "Instant Rebate" is a manufacturer’s rebate with a difference. Here is how it works. The participating retailer deducts the amount of the Instant Rebate from the participating retailer’s price at the time of your purchase. For you there are no forms to fill out and no waiting for cheques to be mailed. Goodyear rebates the participating retailer in due course. The participating retailer is solely responsible for determining the selling price of the tires without direction from Goodyear. Instant Rebates shown above are on a set of four tires. Rebates are also available per tire on a pro-rated basis with a minimum purchase of two tires. "Instant Rebates" offer for eligible purchases between March 30th to June 27th, 2009. Cannot be combined with any other offer. See participating Goodyear Select dealers for details. † ®/TM Trademarks of AIR MILES International Trading B.V. used under license by LoyaltyOne, Inc. and Goodyear Canada Inc. Instant Rebates are back at all participating Goodyear Select dealers. Take advantage of these Instant Rebates with the purchase of 2 or more selected Goodyear tires.

That's too bad. I was hoping to wait for the CT buy one get second 1/2 price and use this rebate. I don't see anywhere where on the rebate where it says that you can't buy it on sale though? I'm guessing that "This offer cannot be combined with any other offer" is the kicker :(

Essentially, you're saving the tire installation charge ($15/tire)
Costco, unfortunately, isn't "good value" anymore. With the new charges for rotation and balancing ( used to be free with tire purchase), Costco is just another tire shop. :(
Just a FYI. not thread jacking/crapping.

Must disagree. It depends where you live. I got a brand new set of Pilot Alpin PA3s from them in December, and, living in this godforsaken ******** city of Montreal, hit a pothole in February and blew one. $60 and 2 days later, I had a new tire.
Now I got a set of Nitto Invos from 1010tires, and after having them on for ONE DAY (read it: ONE DAY) I blew another one on a pothole the size of Manhattan. This time, I don't think I can get away with $60.... I'm pissed beyond belief, and kind of wondering if I should've gotten a less performance, but more warrantied tire from Costco, living in this ******** city where I do.

Your talking about tire WARRANTY issues.
I was stating the FREE benefits that Costco use to offer - free lifetime rotation and balancing - but now has been changed to a chargeable service.
Also, if you look at the sign with the tire prices, right at the bottom right hand corner it states "+ $15 installation".
Sorry to hear about your tires being eaten up by potholes. Good thing the WARRANTY covered the damages.

I know it sucks big time - makes no sense to me either because unless Continental/General Tire is funding the "sales" event there shouldn't be any reason why they should deny the rebate. From the reply I got from Continental Canada:
as I just saw on your receipt you bought this tire on the Canadian tire Winter Promotion. Our coupon says that cross-promotions are not valid meaning you can always get one promotion only.
So unfortunately I can't put you on our promotion any more. Hopefully you can understand that.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me!
Thank you
The kind of reply that is enough to tick me off to buy from another manufacturer (btw - I had no problems whatsoever with the quality of the tire). Let that be my lesson to the Manufacturer.

Mazda Canada is offering a promo called their Get a Grip Campaign. If you buy 4 tires, you save $50 at point of purchase. Combine this with any of the mail in rebates noted by the OP to maximize your savings. Since this is at point of purchase, you save the tax from the $50 as well. In my case, the local Mazda dealership in Victoria, BC has the Toyo Versado LX priced at $199.95 ea which is pretty good compared to other local shops. Add the $50 rebate with the Toyo mail in rebate of $70 and it's a great deal. There is balancing, stems and enviro fee on top, but all shops charge that as well. Check out, www.mazda.ca, parts & service, parts and accessories, tire centre for the promo. Your local Mazda dealership parts dept should be aware of the campaign.

I was at Active Green & Ross today and the guy said they have a $50 instant rebate on tires plus you get mail in rebates on most brands, they can be combined, he also told me if i was a caa member I could have an extra $40 instant.
I bought a set of Michelin's and got all three rebates $50 and $40 instant plus a $50 gas card.

Yeah, I've called them, their website prices are great, the real ones, not so...
Basically all the tires listed on their website are about 20$ more then indicated. He was trying to sell me some Goddyear Eagle Ls at 100$ each as this was "his best deal". For example, the General Altimax were listed at 89, I think, he was actually selling at 118. I politely said I would call back!!!

I called him up and he said that he will call me back. It sounds kinda sketch. He told me that he doesn't think he has the sizes I need. Basically, it seems like he going around the province to find deals for tires and then resells them. The only drawback with that is that he doesn't really have a consistent inventory of tires. it's too bad that the prices aren't sold as listed on website.

I know. Too bad the price guarantee law doesn't apply. Lol, imagine getting the tire at the listed price + 10$ off

So i guess Tire 23 isn't a participating Canadian retailer?

I ordered 4 tires from tiretrends.com on Tuesday afternoon and they were at my door in Winnipeg on Friday.
Shipping was $11 per tire. Great deal as I didn't have to pay PST or the provincial tire levy.
They even included a copy of the mail in rebate form. Thanks OP.

Not sure which year your Jetta is but I just bought a set of Altimax HP's for my car - not a Jetta - (went up from 185-60-15" stock tires to 215-40-17) and I gotta say the handling/traction is great! (it was expected but feels great when it's confirmed! ;) haven't tried them in wet conditions yet though ) The ride isn't too stiff either even though they're low profiles (the Altimax HP's in this size are not XL rated unlike the General Exclaim UHPs so that probably helps - my car's lighter so I didn't need an XL rated tire). The Altimax's also have a higher treadwear rating than the General Exclaim UHPs (440 vs. 340)
Road noise is pretty low too - the Altimax RT's are omnidirectional whereas the HP's have a directional tread pattern but are very similar. There's also anecdotal testimony of better fuel economy with the Altimax's (not sure if this is due to the tire compound or the weight of the tire).
I bought mine through Active Green and Ross (they ordered them in for me - 3 days) and they include 2yr 24-hr road assistance (if I get a flat, they'll send someone to change the tire - don't really need this but nice to have if my wife is driving on her own) and rotations. Installed/balanced price was about ~$141/tire including taxes and after factoring in the $50 rebate from General Tire.
Note: Active Green and Ross has some great pricing on other tires like Michelins and BF Goodrich where they're giving $50 off the price for 4 which can then be combined with the Manufacturer's mail-in rebate (I couldn't get my tire size in the more affordable brands though so no extra $50 for me :().
http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/ca/en/generaltire/automobile/themes/pass_car/broadmarket/altimax_hp/master_en.html
Which is the better option for my Jetta? Both these are real close on price...KR21's $477 all-in including Road Hazard. The Generals are $460. Anybody using either of these?

I'm clueless on what tires to get. I need 215/40/17 for new rims but I never purchased tires before. I have winter set so should I look at summer tires or all season tires for Ontario weather ? Also what would u recommend for tire ? $100-150 would b ideal per tire, don't want to break the bank here :)
can u recommend something to me and maybe lemme know of a good shop in GTA area ?

It all depends on the car you have and the type of driver you are.
What is the weight and speed rating required for your car? Mine is 89 and H.
Are you going full throttle or close to the limits?
I would recommend simply reading reviews on tirerack ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/reviews/MenuServlet?search=surveyComments

Thanks OP, good all encompassing post!
Here's my dilemma. I'm looking for either Goodyear Assurance ComfoTred or Kumho Solus KR21 in 235/60R17, and trying to get some pricing availability info. Places like Costco (don't carry Goodyear and won't special order them), Canadian Tire & Walmart (carry Goodyear but won't special order them), Active Green & Ross and more just don't carry them. O.K. Tire says they're waiting on a shipment that'll take 6 weeks. I phoned Goodyear corporate and they say they are in stock now. They also gave me Gordon's as a company, I would just like a few others to compare. I'm in Montreal.
Any ideas?

^^ Try TALONTIRE, they are in Montreal. Our club members (Subaru club) have been buying tires from them for years. They have excellent prices and excellent service. I usually buy USA but when the difference in price is minimal I'll give my business to Talon Tire . You can call them or shop online.
I'll be buying a set of Kumho tires for my wife's car this week. With exchange/taxes they are basically the same price as buying from US vendors so why not support Canadian business (and a great one at that)

The Altimax HPs I mentioned 2 posts above yours are great! Ended up costing $144/tire taxes incl.
If you're looking for dealers of that tire call around in your area to see who'll give you the best price (incl. installation/balancing):
http://www.contilink.com/jsp/storefront/plt.do?method=findByCityState&division=PLT&brand=G&country=CA&city=milton&state=ON&radius=10
BF Goodrich also makes some tires in that size - they might be stiffer though (that's the reason I went with the Altimax's because they're supposed to have a silica tread compound that makes for more comfortable driving). As someone else posted check tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com to get some alternate 17" tire sizes that you can use for your car (if there are any) - you might find better prices in other sizes.

Just to confirm timelines for folks out there, General Tire $50 rebate prepaid VISA card was receeived yesterday (I sent in the form the week of May 8th). Comes in an envelope with a "Continental" letterhead and the card is issued by Citizens Bank of Canada.
Note there are some Fees and limits on the card so if you're going to use it I would recommend using it all at once or making sure you know exactly how much you used up because you cannot charge more than the balance on the card and the retailer has no way of knowing the amount on the card. If they try to charge an amount slightly more than the balance it will just fail. The 1st balance inquiry is free and subsequent ones get charged different rates (0.50/automated phone inquiry, 0.75/live agent.
Expiry date is 07-2010 for me.

The cheapest one in your size!!!!
Seriously though, find out what size tire you need for your car and what your budget is, then the best advice is to check the online sites that have been mentioned (1010tires, talontire, clicktire, discounttiredirect.com (US), tirerack.com (US)). Then use those as a guideline and if you want, check locally at shops in your area - often they can beat or match/come close to the prices with installation.
Good luck.

the size is 205 75 r14. I called caa tires near my area and gave me 115 for tripletreds but when I mentioned the $50 insta rebate he put me on hold then countered with a higher price(different tire) - 50 rebate... Bunch of crooks
don't buy from caa tires@kingston and morningside 416 282 1191. They are reneging on the sales.
EDIT: BUY FROM CAA AUTO..... I called around and even though they are bad at over pricing, they are still the cheapest after calling around.

If you're actually going to be using them in the winter (like me) I wouldn't cheap out. I've tried the Michelin HydroEdge, the Yokohama Avid TRZ, and I'm currently using the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred, and all 3 of them are good IMO. They all have good treadwear ratings and warranty, and are good in the winter and rain. Not sure if they make the TripleTred in your size, but I know they make the TRZ and HydroEdge in 185/65/14. Both Michelin and Yokohama have rebates for these tires.

Are there still any rebates for the Hydroedge? I thought they expired at the end of May.
I just bought a set on Wednesday and they were actually cheaper than a few weeks ago when the rebate was still on. Apparently first time in a very long time that Michelin dropped their prices on a current model.

FYI - I asked at Costco on Friday whether they had any tire sales coming up again soon. They told me the Michelin deal (see post #2) will start again tomorrow, Aug 31, but for executive members only. Regular Costco members will have to wait until mid October for another sale.
If you're like me and your renewal time is coming up soon, the upgrade to executive is pro-rated so it won't cost as much. In my case it was $15 to upgrade and then be eligible for the sale. Plus, if I don't earn at least that $15 back in my spending rebate they'll apparently credit the difference.

Great post. I think I will make use of the Yokohama rebate. Only because I was planning on buying the Yokohama winter tires already. I'm not a fan of mail in rebates but something is better than nothing. Plus, this one is a bit vague, upto $100 gift card from a Canadian Retailer. ? Looking over the rebate form, it looks like you get to choose a retailer only after mailing in the rebate. So 6-8 weeks after mailing in the rebate, they will mail you another form where you choose the gift card retailer you want and then another 4-6 weeks after to get the gift card. Total of 14 weeks. :( That's a long wait.

Total of 14 weeks. :( That's a long wait.Yeah. That appears to be accurate. I was also considering Yokohama tires for at least 1 of my cars needing winter rubber, and also noticed that it seems like a strange way and very slow way to conduct the offer.
I made this composite image from the Yokohama rebate form and the rebate details page:
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/7811/10250718.jpg
I count 8 retailers, none of which are of any interest to me. Now the fine print does say: "Card not exactly as shown", so I was hoping perhaps I could find some info naming the actual retailers that I might be able to choose from. However, the rebate form's fine print says you will get to "select from one of six different gift card retailers" - but remembering that Old Navy AND Banana Republic are Gap owned stores, that's 6:
- Cineplex
- Gap / Banana Republic / Old Navy
- The Keg
- Rona
- Chapters/Indigo/Coles
- Golf Town
I think I'll probably pass.
PS: As stated on the Page#1 update, both Goodyear & Dunlop (which Goodyear owns most of) have an INSTANT REBATE on right now (link (http://www.goodyear.ca/support/eligible_winter09.html)). For Dunlop Winter Sport 3D/M3, it's $80 off on a set of 4, for the Graspic DS3, it's only $50, and for the Goodyear winter rubber, it's $40-$100 depending on the tire. But as neither Dunlop.ca or Goodyear.ca have MSRP pricing listed (and as hardly any independent tire retailer ever sells at MSRP), if you're shopping around for tire quotes, after you get a quote, you really need to ask "What's your REGULAR PRICE on that tire?". If they go "huh?", then you know they're not passing on the savings as they should be!

Go to Ralph's Auto Wrecker on Michell Island (off the Knight Street Bridge) or on Scott Road in Surrey. You can get the same stock wheels as are on your Sienna now for the same price as steelies! Even if they don't have those, they have a TONNE to choose from and steelies are a dime a dozen! That said you may want to go sooner than later, as everyone will be looking for winter rims soon.

The billing address on your invoice must be a US address in order to use the $70 Michelin rebate. This can be a problem as usually your billing address must match the credit card address that you use to purchase the tires.

I just bought some Michelin X-Ice Xi2 (215/45/18) for $150 USD/tire from Tire Rack and had them shipped to Blaine. Had to pay ~$84 PST/GST at the border. But at $245.99/tire locally + levy I still saved around $350 overall.
I am thinking of doing this too. Did you have them installed at Blaine? Do you mind me asking which business you got them delivered to? And even with ~$200 shipping you still saved enough to make it worth the trip? Thanks!
Im looking to do the same. purchase tires from tirerack and have it shipped to a tire installer around the border area.
Though i just had a simple question, if im dumping my old tires in the states and drive back on the new tires, do i have to pay taxes, i dont really plan on claiming it...?

I shipped to Hagen's of Blaine (http://www.hagensofblaine.com/Site/Home.html) and they charged $5 USD which I found to be very reasonable. Shipping was actually $51.60 USD.
THE TIRE RACK $651.60 USD
$687.40 CAD + ~$82.49 CAD (GST/PST) + $5.00 USD (Hagen's) = ~$775.29 CAD
vs.
Local: $245.99/tire + GST/PST + Levy = $1122.04 CAD
Savings ~ $346.75 CAD

wait hold on ether buddy
here's a solutiuon :
I will call my CC cie and have them add the US shipping adress on record
then I'll have the 70$ card shipped to that same us adress also and the tires what's wrong with that?
Can you have two addresses for the billing on the CC?

but they said i can have any billing adress i want for as long as i want

Thanks for compiling all of this info. I've been waiting for a thread like this to show up on RFD.
Yes, great job. Wish I found this thread before trekking off to DB to purchase my set of winter tires. Will definitely come back in the spring when I'm in the market for sets of the all season.

Thanks very much for the info! I'll be sure to check out Hagen's.
I was looking at getting a full package, so I guess that's why the shipping estimate is so much greater. I'll have to check into getting steelies up here.

What I did was changing the billing address to the US, completed the purchased, and changing the billing address back, all within 15min.

I just bought the following Michelin tires and wheels from Discount Tires:
4 - 225/70R16 Latitude Ice
4 - 225/70R16 LTX M/S 2
4 - MB predator alloy wheels (rims)
Total cost was 1,913.64 CDN including declaring the goods and paying the taxes at the border
I received a $70 USD MIR for each set of 4 tires ($140 USD) and a $50 USD MIR for the wheels that isn't included in the above prices which further reduced the price another 200 CDN.
With a total cost of 1,713.64 when received the rebates, I think its a pretty good deal.
Discount Tires have their own michelin $70 mail in rebate that allows Canadians who buy in US to get the same Michelin rebate.
You have to mail in the rebate versus completing it online.

Could a mod please move this back to Hot Deals promo as I was still planning on maintaining the thread.

I'm still 'waiting' on my Pirelli winter carving rebate from this past winter. I wouldn't hold my breath on getting some of these rebates. There's not even a number to follow up.

"This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion or program and is not applicable at Canadian Tire, Costco or SAMS."
Is Costco offering their own $60 rebate for the MICHELIN tires? Cuz on the official MICHELIN coupon it says Costco purchase is not applicable. Costco's tire price is not very different from other retailers such as my dealership and Active Green + Ross. Without the $60 rebate, why would anyone buy from Costco? Strange.

Isn't the official rebate from Michelin $60 instead of $50? Is the $50 gas card offered by Active Green + Ross? How is the $50 gas card offered? Do you have any info regarding this? Thanks a lot!

Went to costco to check my tires, they told me I still have 40% left. They have a Michelin rebate coming up in October, so they told me to wait.
Why buy from costco... their 5 year warranty, they will fix your tires for free and rotate every 10K, if they cannot fix, they will refund based on usage.

100% agree - although god help you if you ever need non-standard sizes that aren't manufacturer specified for your car (wider tires, narrower tires, sportier tires, whatever) - Costco WILL NOT SELL. Or at least, they won't install - they can't really prevent you from buying them.

I went to buy some Blizzak WS70s at Costco yesterday and the lady there said hold off for a few more days because there might me a Bridgestone Tire rebate in late November and I could use the 30 day Price match to get money off.
Has anybody heard anything about a Bridgestone sale in late Nov and have any details? And why is this thread expired?
