Until sunday its 30$ off. I think it was 179.99$ before coupon.
Just finished installing it and it's amazing. Very good quality. I already had an old ceiling fan which i threw out so the junction box was already there. Very well balance and is ultra quiet. The motor is silent and powerful. The blades are large too. All you hear is the air moving when on high. One note it's very heavy...around 40lbs which makes it very solid. I've checked the blades in all speeds and directions are there is no wabbling, just perfect balance!
I've installed 5 ceiling fans and in the past i've always had to make adjustments and even then they still vibrated a bit. this is the first time i got it right the first time!
It took me about 2 hours to install by myself. Because of some wiring issues i had to call hunter tech support. They actually were able to help! The took me step by step which wires to connect. It is more complex then a regular fan because there is also a receiver to connect to the wires but it's worth the extra work in the end.
It looks beautiful! I highly recommend!

Agreed, Hunter fans are the best. I installed one in the bedroom last year. It's completely silent on the slowest speed and the only fan I've been able to sleep under while it's on.
For those in Ontario, with the OPA coupon, this is a steal.

Question is if Costco accepts OPA coupons.
Bare in mind taxes are on the full amount.

Bought one last time at costco when they had the coupon (believe more than $30). When installed, the remote malfunctioned. Called them and they shipped a replacement remote (took 10 weeks as it was out of stock). Yet to change it.

The OPA is the Ontario Power Authority. There are also various rebates for Quebec, $25 for lights, $15 for lighting fixtures such as this fan (it does qualify).
Click here for the link (http://www.hydroquebec.com/residential/eclairage/telechargement/coupon_luminaires_en.pdf)to the PDF from Hydro Quebec and save yourself $15 mail in, good till December 31 2009. Save them up and apply all at once as you are allowed a maximum of 5 rebates. It includes outdoor fixtures, motion detector lights and more.
Be sure to save your receipts (or a copy) and the ORIGINAL UPC from the product packaging!
I love ceiling fans, I might have to get one of these, thanks OP!

The Costco in Kanata (Ottawa) didn't need the OPA $25 coupon as it took off $55 automatically at the cash. $170 + taxes - $55 off.
I bought 3 last spring and installed in 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 was defective with the light so it is going back this year. We bought a new one this year to replace it. Very quiet and provides enough cooling air in the summer at night and leaving the AC on at a slightly higher temp (thermostat at 26C downstairs --> upstairs warmer at 28C due to heat rising). It comes with a 18W GU-24 bulb so if you can find another higher wattage bulb (i.e. 23W GU-24) you can replace it for more light - i found that the 18W is a bit too dim to read to the kids and requires an extra table lamp for that.
Unit is heavy and requires you to trim about 1' of excess wires to fit in the housing. We got a similar fan from HD for $250 just before Costco started carrying these! Remote has 3 fan speeds plus reverse and light. The remote can hang on the existing switch with the included adapter - quite handy. The fans can be configured using jumper switches (combination of 4-3-2-1 switches) so the remotes are unique and won't control other fans unintentionally.
Excellent fan for the price after rebates. Highly recommended if you can use one. Beats the best floor fans out there.

...and at Merivale they keep a copy of the coupon at the checkout that they simply scan, you don't need to take it in.
Also, remember to keep your receipt as light fixtures are eligible for the renovation tax credit making this an even better deal

I browsed around the site and found the list of

+1 London, picked one up yesterday. $55 automatically deducted.
I was also tempted by the similar looking one below which was on sale at Canadian Tire last week for $79.99. It looks a bit like an aircraft prop though - oval blades. If you are interested in that one, at my CT they usually give the deal if its the day or weekend after.

From some of the other posts in this thread, it would seem that Costco in Ontario automatically applies the OPA rebate at the cash, saving you the trouble of having to bring one in.

Just picked one up from the Costco in Brampton... They took $55 off the $179.99 so it looks like they did take the OPA discount off automatically :)
I'm wondering how much 'wind' this creates as the fan will not be directly over the bed in my room so I'm wondering if the airflow will affect the whole room or not... any thoughts?
Thanks!

Just wanted to reconfirm that the remote is capable of reverse. From the box, I don't see how you do it on the remote. Today, I picked up two for my new house and plan on mounting one at the top over my stairs and would be nice to be able to reverse the direction of the fan as needed as the fan won't exactly be reachable.

No.
This fan is NOT low profile. (i.e. not flush mount capable...only standard and angle).
The distance from ceiling to bottom of blade is 10.5 inches.
I had to return mine today because my ceiling is 7'9" and the recommended minimum distance is 7'

I don't get why this fan is considered energy efficient. You need a battery to operate the remote and you cannot turn the light/fan off by the regular light switch. any thoughts on this?

If you're hooking up a ceiling fan to where an existing light fixture used to be, all you're doing is hooking it up to a switched power source. Basically, you're just turning the power on and off to the fan. So, if you turn the switch off, you cannot do anything with the fan.
The controls on this fan just happen to be on the remote instead of having pull chains. If you want a ceiling fan where you want to be able to control the light and fan by a wall switch, you will have to run an extra wire and get a special switch like this one (http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?D=971404&Ntt=971404&catalogId=10051&langId=-15&storeId=10051&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntx=mode+matchall&recN=0&N=0&Ntk=P_PartNumber).
As for why it's considered energy efficient, on this particular model, it uses a fluorescent type bulb instead of an incandescent.

I'm having the same problem here...
To audiohs: In the fan's manual, it says that "To turn on the light without the remote, turn off the wall switch for 5 seconds, then back on". I guess that turning off the switch resets the receiver in the fan and the lights turn on when the switch is turned back on. I don't think a 3rd wire or a special switch is necessary.
I know this isn't a support forum but if anyone has an idea to solve this problem, I would really appreciate...

Just read the same line and mine will not turn on the light also. Not to sure how it would turn on the light without 14/3 wire versus the 14/2 I installed. As you point out it might be a feature in the remote receiver. Hmmm ...time to call Hunter.

This is a great fan! I had a minor problem after hooking it up though. The light and the fan would turn on and off by itself, but after changing the dip switch setting in the receiver to a different frequency all was fine. I also noticed that the range for the remote can work as far as 100 ft away. I was able to turn my light and fan on from 2 houses down the street!

You control the speed and light via the remote; the wall switch just powers the unit on and off. However, you can stick the remote next to the wall switch, so you won't lose it, if that's what you're worried about.

I'd bet your neighbour turned his light on 3 times. He only turned it on once, then noticed it was off (turned off by you), so he turned it on again, etc. You can actually have some fun with this if you don't like your neighbour...:cheesygri

To everyone interested, I got an answer from Hunter regarding the remote receiver not resetting when turning off the wall switch:
Thank you for your email inquiring about your Hunter fan. Our remote controls have been redesigned so that the default is for the light to remain off once power is restored at the wall switch. The default cannot be overridden. We recommend leaving the light switch on at all times and using the remote control for all fan/light operation.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience the misinformation in the manual may have caused you and please contact us again if we can help in any way.
Basically, their user manual has not been updated to reflect those changes and that behavior is normal.

Unfortunately this means its going back for me. There is no way I'm fumbling around the bedroom at 10pm or 5am looking for the freakin remote.
Lousy design in my opinion. The light should be primary operation via wall switch, secondary via remote (ie OFF/ON at wall switch brings the light back to default control via wall switch).
For those wishing to fumble around for the freakin remote, the coupon offer is on until around May 20th.

You can attach the remote holder right on top of the light switch as long as your light switch is a 'normal' one, though since I have the other lever type of switches, I can't mount the holder over the switch. Oh well.
I have the same prob with the light/fan coming on and off by itself too. I figured it works the same way as a garage opener would, so I guess its a neighbour that has the same frequency setting... and I don't feel like opening the fan back up and changing the code in the receiver :(

The previous model has the incorrectly documented behaviour. The problem is that if you leave the wall switch on for remote operation the light will come on after a power outage. We've come back from vacation to find the light on.

Fair enough workaround.... but I just KNOW one of the kids will move it, dog eats it or something. For me its function before form.
Too bad, it looks good, great price and everybody seems to be very happy with the performance.

Lutron makes universal wall switches for fans. I know other companies make them too like Hunter but they are ugly looking compared to this one. Might be needing one myself soon.

I agree...fan is good quality and very quiet...However, like others, I've experienced the light coming on by itself and also the fan turning off by itself. I'm told I need to adjust the dip switch...and that's what I was going to do ..until I did a bit more research...if you buy a fan that comes with the remote and then the remote stops working (which is apparently quite common) then you have no way of operating your fan. It is better to buy a fan with the pull chains that is remote adaptable. That way, if the remote goes awol then you'll still be able to use your fan!
Also the light that is in it had already stopped working and it's impossible to get! I got a similar light at Home Depot but with slightly less wattage (it wasn't bright enough in the first place and had the eerie annoying pink glow)
I ended up taking the Hunter Moderna back and getting a Monte Carlo Discus...and bought a separate remote...It's just as quiet, has the pull chains, the light is halogen (75 watt). The fan moves more air than the Hunter, does not wobble at all (hunter had a slight wobble on high speed).
I'm happy now!!

I think the idea is that using ceiling fans is more efficient than using Central Air conditioning.
