I was just downtown with my wife and dog this past Saturday and while we were about to cross the street at Burrard and Pender, several police patrol cars and one unmarked police car converged at the entrance of the Burrard Skytrain station.
One patrol car sped off west on Pender and another headed north on Burrard. A third patrol car parked parked quickly in front of the Skytrain station and the unmarked one u-turned to park right in front (facing head to head) with the third patrol car.
We crossed the street and as we passed the unmarked police car, a large officer and a civilian woman stepped out of the car. The officer said to the woman, "You stay behind us."
As we walked pass the patrol car, the officer that got out of that car popped the truck, grabbed a shotgun, loaded it and pumped it once before closing the trunk. The shotgun had something like another 6 rounds attached to it.
There must have been at least another patrol car around since I saw 4 police officers head down the stairs of the Burrard Skytrain station. Every officer had their guns drawn.
They came up not too long after and headed back to their cars. My wife heard the large office say into the radio, "Did the suspects have the gun drawn or was it on his belt?"
