I am thinking of buying a new car as a cash purchase. Looking into compact japanese cars like Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 3, Honda Fit... I know Toyota gives you $1750 off on a cash purchase price, but it still comes up to $15500 (just automatic transmittion, no options). Is it possible to ask the dealer to waive the freight $1300 fee or give me free air conditioning or get him to lower the price by $1000? How low will he go? What strategy should I pick to get him to give me a good deal?

Keep in mind them giving you "free" freight really isn't giving you freight for free, but a $1300 discount. So you couldn't expect free freight plus a $1000 discount since the manufacturer charges the dealership freight, same goes with the air conditioner
