or you could buy a car inverter ($15~$50), then use the regular AC adapter on the car

Yah I thought of that, so many cords though.... Id rather have a specific car adapter for my car that I leave in the glove box. I have tried that in a friends car and its popped the fuse.

if you tried that in a friends car and it blew a fuse either his fuse was wrong, his car sucks, or your inverter was garbage..

that laptop will likely use 60watts or less (a lightbulb).. so if it couldnt handle that something was wrong.

and wouldnt buying a second cable still be more cords?

hes right on the inverter. its likely your best option.. a car adapter for your laptop will likely be big bucks

Dragging the ac cord in and out of my car is what I dont want to do. And have a sea of dangling wires all over the place in my car. Id rather pay for the car adapter which stays in my car and is always there as needed. I seen some one ebay for around $50 I just dont know if they are compatible with my HP1035.
