What do you think is better and Why?
I played Fable 2 first then Fable 1, both games story almost feels the same you end up doing the same things but i liked both...
Fable 1
Game seems more connected when you travel, moving from one area to the next you see how areas are connected by road you dont' just end up in some area
More quests and things to do, game feels more finished and it took me longer to finish
Story is more interesting and boss fight at end was actually a fight
Fable 2
Combat is way more fun, ragdoll effects are awesome
Graphics are better

i'm mid way through fable 2 right now and gota say i like the original better.
easier to navigate in the first like you said and the story slowly revealed itself throughout the game. fable 2 has a deep intro and just dies for you (so far) to simply play through the game instead of discover the story as you go along. i also liked the growing up aspect of the game in fable 1. graphics and play of course is better in fable 2 but not miles ahead. the one thing that stands out for me in fable 2 is the dog.
i played fable 1 when it first came out so it seemed unfinished for me, but the complete version on PC was great.
overall i liked the first one better. not to mention the previews i read from the makers were emphasizing on the storyline they put in the game which is so far disappointing for me.

I only played the first one, but I'm surprised it is longer. I beat this game rather quickly, even with the lost chapters. I was expecting it to be 5-10 hours longer.

Yeah, I found the original very incomplete. There were tasks that had no end reward and blank demon doors. I might pick up Lost Chapters after I finish Fable 2.

I actually liked the orignal quite a bit and didn't notice the blank demon doors, but there were some obvious flaws with the game too. Even though there were these flaws I felt that the gameplay was put together very well and with a bit better of a story to go with the quests, and maybe a streaming world it would of been a lot better.
