Just wondering if anyone has experience with Active Green + Ross oil change? They have a discount at $19.99+$2.5 disposal fee. Full Synthetic is at $59.99+disposal fee. Any specific feedback on the one in Markham (Hwy 7 & Markham Rd)? I read some negative feedbacks and some postive ones online, not sure if it's worth the saving as my dealership charges like $55 for the basic oil change.

I don't know about the Markham location but the one on 73 Bridgeland, near Yorkdale is good. Avoid the one on Yonge near Newtonbrook.
Watch out for the $4 top off option some offer. They charge a flat rate even if they don't top off any fluids for you.

I read some feedback online stating that Active Green+Ross sometimes lure you in for oil change, then tell you a lot of things are wrong, like alignments, suspensions, etc. Not sure if it's true.

I have had no problems there so far...then again, probably because two of them are on the boards I lurk on...

That location has really good service and people. I had my balljoints and control arms done, transmission oil, etc. Since I was a a student they gave me a good discounts considering all the work that had to be done and a Free rental for the day since it took about 6 hours. :cheesygri. Ill be going back there in a month or two to get my struts fixed.

Yes. The location above did this:

And it wasn't just with me. While I waited for my car, I overheard this guy make calls for cars whose oil changes were completed and he had the same line for everyone "the such-and-such part is defective, and it is a safety issue. It's strongly recommended that it be replaced." To him, everything was a safety issue, eventually including a few things with my vehicle, which made me decide not to return to that location.

I booked an oil change appointment this Sat and will let you guys know how it went. It seems a great deal and their service on my winter wheel balancing was great.

So....how did the service go?
Do they do regular maintenance i.e. brakes as well?

Amazing service there. I'll bring back my car there next time. $25 out the door in about 30-40 mins with an appointment on Sat.

Their service is above average. (I can't comment on the knowledge/technical skills for each mechanic, as that will always very)
Just beware that they do recommend alot of preventative maintainance things. You by no means have to do any of it. (some advisors may try to pressure or scare you for example saying it's a saftey issue). Alot of times they are legit recommendations if you want your car in tip top shape. But it scares me how poorly maintained people keep their cars and in how bad shape they are.
Just tell them you'll bring it back another day or get a second opinion.

Do we need a coupon to get a $20 oil change? I can't find any valid coupons online.
Thanks!

Went to the one located @ Steeles E and Don Mills, and was told my cooling system is leaking and I need to replace my water pump, struts(front), wheel alignment& etc. Total quotation = 1561.62
I've been another location about 4 months before and my car had no problem at all.
So shall I be concerned? I'm driving a 2001 Corola with about 100K KM milage(I don't drive a lot).
Anyone had same experience and what did you do?
Also would they damage part on purpose to get people repair?

Stay away from AG&R, bad experiences with them, they will give you a song and dance about recommended service intervals and repairs.

if you are not sure take it to another shop and ask them to do a full check on the car (dont tell them what the other location said) once they come back if they say everything looks fine as specifically about those parts the other shop said needed to be changed. You will be able to know if they were just trying to get $ off you.

As for a location I'm not to sure as I just go to my friend which does work out of his garage. I know of another guy thats Very good but I don't have his contact info as he just opened up his own shop recently after being head mechanic at another one for years.
I know of this one in Sauga that is highly recommended, you could give them a call and ask how much they would charge for inspection.

I called active green and ross to gauge some tire prices. They asked me if my car had the "sport" package. I said yes, their reply is that I need Z rated winter tires...
I told them... Really I need a winter tire rated for 240 km/h. Followed by a swift hang up.

FWIW......I think Robinson's pre purchase inspection is usually around $115.

Thanks, I may call them to find out. On other hand, anyone knows any reputative garage on the north part of GTA? like Markham/Richmond hill/Vaughan, I still hope to find somewhere closer to me.

It's interesting and sad.
According to the result, there's only roughly 8% chance we'll get an good garage.... Wonder if I can get my car checked at that Active Green and Ross at Victoria Park...

Probably the most convenient.
Then again, I drive about 35 km one way to get my vehicle serviced at Robinsons and I personally know of about a half dozen others who go to them from even farther away than that.
Actually, just went to Robinsons yesterday to get a transmission flush and a coolant flush done.
