Don't expect too much out of this unit. It probably has 480 x 234 resolution, which is the same as most DVD decks anyways. It doesn't come with a battery either.

It does come with a car charger though. So if you need something cheap to shut your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband/kids up while you're driving, this is for you. I have a DVD deck in my car and I really enjoy it. This is a cheap alternative.

My Pioneer deck is 480 x 234, it's still very watchable.

$61.99 + free shipping + tax + handling
Total comes to $66.38 shipped

It's a Great unit...I purchased one a few years ago, and with all the abuse it's been through...still kickin. One of the main reasons I picked one up was due to the bar that attaches to the back of the headrest. You need to have metal bars for the headrest for this one. I've tried the other ones with a velcro strap and they never seemed to hold up properly.

Just a FYI, Canadian Tire has this same unit for $199.99. So IMO, this is a great deal.

Ordered. Thanks OP...
we don't need the rechargable battery feature so this seems like a great alternative to the car in-vehicle DVD provided by auto makers...

It comes with
Input: RCA AV Jack

Can anyone confirm this can be used to hook up external DVD player, Satellite Receiver, VCR ... etc. and use this player as a monitor ?
I have been looking for a portable monitor with AV input and did not see other portable DVD Players equipped with this.

Thanks.

at toysrus they have a magnavox with usb. Plays all divx etc on disk or thru usb. Depending on your store I have seen it as low as 69.99, i bought it at 75 bucks around christmas(again ymmv) Its not posted on their site. Its a pretty good portable dvd player with divx and usb you could look out for has a/v inputs too.

Can't comment on this model but the Venturer line of portable DVD player (sold at Wal-Mart) have RCA jacks in them.

Thanks for the inputs. I know most of these portable DVD players has RCA jacks but are for output only. Just want to make sure it can be used as a monitor, which is what I am looking for.

Even manual on this Nextar player doesn't confirm how it does with the Video/Audio input.

And for anyone interested in this player, there is a MP3 upgrade here :

(Use at your own risk.)

I'd recommend confirming in store first but I'm pretty sure Venturer units have the ability to do line in.
