Hi Fellow Bloggers,

Has anybody used or have any experience with the Kenmore Elite Built-in Gian Tub Trubozone Dishwasher-Stainless:-

I'm looking to buy one and reading some good and some bad reviews. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have one of these, it's made by whirlpool and have been using it daily for the past 4 years.

Turbo Zone, I've used it a couple of times and don't really care for it. The casseroles still come out soiled especially in the corners. The casserole also takes up a lot of room because it has to be placed so it's slanted towards the zone. Therefore, there isn't as much room for your regular dishes. You are better of washing it by hand.

Smartwash feature is the one I use for all my dishwashing needs. I rarely use the other options.

I really like the stainless steel tub, it makes the dishwasher look brand new. I will never go back to a plastic tub because of the discolouration.

The only problem I've had so far is the utensil rack needs to be replaced.

Well from Consumer Reports you can see its rated in quite highly.

Their comments about it are

"CR's Take
Overall, this is an excellent dishwasher. It offers excellent wash performance and energy efficiency, and quiet operation. It uses less water than most.

Highs
This model provides excellent wash performance and energy efficiency. It's quiet and uses less water than most.

Lows
This model's cycle time is longer than most. And at $900, it's expensive. The filter requires occasional cleaning by hand."

We have it and a very happy with it. Cleans the dishes very well. We have an open concept kitchen/family room and you can hardly hear that it is on. It does have a long cycle. We chose it over the Busch because the Kenmore has a food grinder that cuts all the food pieces into tiny ones. No need to pre-wash the dishes. We have friends that have a Busch dishwasher and wash all the dishes before putting them in the machine.

Not sure if you know, but smooth top stoves only work with certain types of pots and pans (has to be ferrous).

If you cook, an over the range microwave won't provide sufficient ventilation.

I am going to highly, HIGHLY suggest you look at Bosch if you are in the market for a higher-end dishwasher. I picked up THIS ONE (http://www.boschappliances.com/kitchen-appliances-dishwashers_dishwashers_evolution_300-series_SHE33M05UC.html) about two months ago and I am extremely happy with it (which is amazing considering how picky I am).

The adjustable racks and stainless steel tub are great but what really sold me on it was the fact that Bosch makes some of the quietest and most energy efficient dishwashers on the market. Let me tell you, it delivered on that.

It may not have many cleaning options but how may will you seriously use? The Power Scrub Plus washes some seriously caked-on crap and the normal cycle is great for everything else.

Plus, Bosch is the only manufacturer I know of that offers you a two year warranty if you register your appliance with them.

I have the Kenmore and I love it. The turbo zone is great feature for those tough pans. Only the kenmore have the rotating jets for the turbozone. Whirlpool and Kitchenaid also have the jets but they do not rotate. The racks are also adjustable. It used to come with a 2 or 3 year warranty but I am not sure if that's still the case.

Personally, I will never put my pots or pans in the dishwasher but that is just me...

Thanks everyone for your replies. You guys have provided some useful information to say the least.

I was reading coolspot's reply and it got me thinking, I might have to buy special pots and pans to work with smooth-top oven. That's another headache added.
