I just had the same Granite countertop installed in my inlaws house last year from TriStar Marble in Brampton. They drove all the way to Hamilton to do the job and they even beat all the quotes that my father inlaw rec'd from local companies!!!!! Just ask for Matine Morb (905) 450-5151

I'm from Ottawa and I too just had the same counters (Black Galaxy) installed and they are amazing, well worth it. I won't leave the company name since it's in Ottawa but it cost me $3700 + GST for about 50 sq feet of material over 50 linear feet of edging. I hope you enjoy your new counters.

Cheers.

From my math, that was expensive. However, in saying that, what type of edging did you get???

Yeah sounds expensive. I was quoted just under $3700 for quartz and about $2400 for Black Galaxy and mine is 50 sq ft too.

I recently used Lowes in Brampton (3cm Jupirana Gold) for granite install. Large install with around 80 sq ft. and many angles and cuts. I felt the final cost was high (20% over store estimate) and the install was not up to the standard I expected although it was OK. Two cuts had to be redone on site meaning the seams were not as good as those cut at shop. We also did a 1.5 inch X 1.5 inch granite moulding where the counter meets the wall. Looks great but the finish was spotty and the joints were poorly matched. Deliberately paid a premium price hoping for a premium job but got an average job. Lowes has made no effort to remedy problems. Will use a local small supplier when we do bathrooms later this year.

You can save yourself much $$$ with a standard edge which,in most cases looks as good as most of the 'fancy' ones.Go with an undermount sink. It's a little more money but, looks & functions so much better.Make sure they mount it with hardware & not silicone alone.Garbage disposals should have extra suppport.

Some stone varies quite drastically in coloration from slab to slab.If this is potentially an issue, use a local fabricator & pick your own slabs.

There are lots of granite/marble stores along jane st. between hwy7 and rutherford, that is where our builder told us to go to pick the granite slab for our counters and in our old house, we went to a store there to pick up a slab of granite. I don't recall the price, but I guess you could just go there and ask around, the prices should be fairly good.
